Advair and weight gain

Common Questions and Answers about Advair and weight gain

advair

Avatar f tn I have had trouble maintaining my weight since menopause. I lose weight very easily now. Over the last couple of years I have had a CT, MRI, and all sorts of bloodwork. My doctor is convinced it is just one of those things. Said she has a handful of patients that have the same thing after menopause. I take effexor for hot flashes, cholesterol medication and advair. I can't imagine any of them making me lose weight so easily. I was never heavy, but watched what I ate.
Avatar n tn It is hard to be sure about my answer to your question and that is because your having had pneumonia is a complicating factor. That is to say that while you may have experienced clinical recovery, 3 weeks before the first test, your lungs may still have been in a recovery phase and thus, may not yet have functionally reached baseline. In other words the two test results are not comparable.
757137 tn?1347196453 A one-way trip to a slab. (The normal dosage is between two and four drops a week, depending on weight. Somewhat more is needed for hypothyroidism.) And as for the over-indulgence in vitamin C, it is pathetic. The body can only utilize about 500 mg. a day. I thank you for your information. I am afraid the FDA did not go far enough. Inflammation is not the only problem.
Avatar n tn Several months ago, I noticed asthma symptoms returning. I saw my pulmonary doc last week and he upped advair to 250/50. How long should it take until I see a noticeable change? Also I have been having a dry cough, which I read can be a side effect of advair. Should that go away eventually?
Avatar n tn I have had several problems with advair such as thrush and irregular heart beat. Also, my endocrinologist suggested that my osteopinia (sp?) could be related to advair use but it's just one possible culprit. I'm a runner and just finished a marathon and got thrush again from advair so decided I wanted to at least take a break from it. Well, it's been a few days and I have never had such breathing problems before I used advair, I have a constant headache and I'm exhausted.
Avatar n tn I think all my physical symptoms like the pale skin, weight gain, poor eye site and pink cheeks is a result of being on the Advair for so long as I've researched the side effect time and time again. I am still trying to figure out why I have trouble breathing when I've never had any medical problems prior to falling ill 3 years ago.
Avatar m tn I have moderate to advanced copd and take both advair and spriva. My hep doc didn't see any problem with it For me it came down to a choice of whether or not I wanted to stay of the oxygen tank.
1679876 tn?1304743615 I have been given Advair to take for my copd, but one side effect is fast and irregular heart beat, chest pain and increased BP----I take Metoprolol succ er for my PSVT--- -Will the Advair Diskus work against my metoprolol meds? I am alllergic to Penasylin, tetrocycoline, decadron, dyphahidromine, and benedril. My other meds I take are: zolof, welbrutrin, seroquel xr, gabapentine, tizanidine hcl and pravastatin sodium----will there be any adverse reactions to any of these meds?
Avatar f tn Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots. I am also taking oral contraceptives (I have been informed that this medication may increase the risk for clotting problems). I am feeling more respiratory congestion with each additional day off Advair and would like to know if it's safe to use Advair so soon after wisdom teeth extraction. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I am someone who is extremely sensitive to all medications, including the ones I have to take for my asthma. I have pretty severe asthma, am 24 and female. Advair makes me feel so horrible--it makes my heart beat really fast and palpitate and it makes it difficult for me to even exercise. I had been on the 250/50 for 3 years when I was in college before I realized it was making me feel like ****--so I got off of it completely, cold turkey, and like 6 months later I couldn't breathe again.
757137 tn?1347196453 Advair has a steroid in it, which can cause hair growth, etc. I took Advair for my COPD briefly. I simply did not like the side effects that it seem to give me.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar f tn She added Zophran and Nexium to his daily medication regiment. (He is also on Singulair, Albuterol, Advair, and blood pressure medication. He has been on albuterol since he was a baby. He has been on the blood pressure medication for more than a year. They started him on Advair and Singulair in January, blaming his problems on his weight and asthma. If it is the asthma and coughing making him sick, why isn't he coughing or wheezing.
Avatar n tn Weight gain he discussed is caused by long term use of prednisone. A few lose weight while others gain. That is why it gives people "moon face." GERD and allergies have nothing to do with the actual weight. Some can drop the weight while others it throws out of whack and doctors give the same suck it up response you did. I spent years trying to drop weight with my conditions. Nothing worked well because of unaddressed health issues. Recently I started dropping weight without trying.
5037123 tn?1362663006 Last week I was diagnosed with Asthma (through a breathing test) after two bouts with Bronchitis and lots of coughing. My doctor gave me Advair. After 3 doses I began getting back pain between my shoulder blades. Not sure if it was from the Advair I took another dose and the pain got worse. I contacted my doctor and he changed me to Symbicort. I had no problem for 3 days, but after today's dose the back pain is back. Is this typical or am I doing something wrong when inhaling.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge Advair® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) has not been linked to strokes. Have you heard anything about this in the lay press?
Avatar m tn Recently, my dr diagnosed me with dyspnea. I have been wheezing constantly up to 2 months. Is Lately, by doctor gave me a diagnosis of dyspnea. I have a hard time exhaling and for the last 2 months; I have wheezing problems. My symptoms consist being clammy on my face, being flush red, having mild to moderate sweating bouts when I do nothing/or do REALLY light activities. Is this normal of dyspnea? I am noticing more Petechiae dots on my chest and arms, is this normal of dyspnea?
Avatar m tn He told me my results were consistent with asthma and prescribed me Advair while also using Proair for relief. Its been one week and the Advair hasnt made my symptoms any better. Im starting to wonder if I have something other than asthma. Any thoughts/advice/feedback? Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn I have emphysema. i use advair twice a day and spiriva one a day. The biggest problem for me is that I always seem to havemucus build up in the mornings. My doctor has told me to try mucinex, but that doesn't seem to work all the time. So i try using albuterol in the morning to help loosen up the mucus so that I can breath better.
Avatar m tn t go away, which causes me some anxiety in that I think maybe I am having an attack but my rescue meds are not helping. I am 42 years old, normal weight and have been on Advair 500/50 for about 3 years. Xopenex is my rescue inhaler.
1425157 tn?1311651679 i got bronchitis and the doc first put me on abuterol and it knocked my heart for a loop and then he put me on advair and it did the same thing so we just stopped it....they are obviously loaded w. steroids and we all know how great that is for all of us....i could call the doc and ask him/her if there is anything out there on the market that they can prescribe to you to keep your bronchials open w. no side effects of the adrenaline rushes....
Avatar n tn My almost 11 year old son has not been feeling very well for the past year. He is not gaining weight and not growing taller at the normal rate. (This growth problem has gone on for 2 or more years.) 6 weeks ago he had an emergency appendectomy and has been mostly in the bed since. (The appendix was fine.) He has been to a ped GI specialist who couldn't find anything wrong on a CT scan that made him think he needed to investigate further.
Avatar n tn I dont recommend coming off the advair though. The initial 3 days I had horrible congestion and wheezing that albuterol could not relieve. Funny doesnt sound like asthma if the albuterol doesnt help. I dont have productive coughs anymore after stopping the advair. It seems the advair was making the mucous come up like crazy. I am seeing a doctor in a couple of days to get a pft without the advair.
Avatar m tn I have been taking advair 500/50 and spiriva 18mg for over a year now in combination with each other. When I get a chest infection, guess what? can't breathe. When I do not have a cold I can breathe just fine. I recently had a full physical with my family doctor and just about died when I hit the scales. He is telling me that as long as I am taking steriods (prednisone included at times) I will have weight problems.
Avatar n tn I have hot flashes which I had gotten over at my age before I started taking this. I have headaches. Plus I have put on weight. I am trying to get out and walk more but right now am having trouble with my feet. The other day I woke up and felt like I had bruised my heels. I guess my questions is this when and if did you say enough I want to try something else. I have almost completed 6 weeks of this medication. Too should i be calling the nurse and let her know what I am having.
