advair and thrush

t need Advair. I am on second round of Nystatin and Certin trying to rid myself of thrush but still feel as though it has gone into my lungs!! Very stressful. Am diabetic and reading the comments, sugar is a feeder of thrush! Can one be rid of thrush forever ???

I take advair, 250/50. Now I have thrush! Has anyone else dealt with this? Nasty Stuff!

I am 56 year old woman who was diagnoised with COPD 10 years ago. I am not taking any oral steroids at this time. I use Duo Neb Inhalation 2 times per day and oxygen on 2 L continously. The Pulmonary Doctor keeps having me try to use Advair but I get thrush in my mouth anytime I'm on Advair or oral steroids. So I try to avoid them if at all possible. I am currently using Spiriva HandiHaler which I believe is not suppose to have any steroids but I keep getting Thrush in my mouth !

I have had several problems with advair such as thrush and irregular heart beat. Also, my endocrinologist suggested that my osteopinia (sp?) could be related to advair use but it's just one possible culprit. I'm a runner and just finished a marathon and got thrush again from advair so decided I wanted to at least take a break from it. Well, it's been a few days and I have never had such breathing problems before I used advair, I have a constant headache and I'm exhausted.

After reading your comments I am stopping Dulera and going back to Advair, it worked better and I trust it better than Dulera. I got thrush from advair and taking an antibiotic at the same time. I switched to symbicort and it has never happened again even with an antibiotic. Yes steroids can cause it . Anyone with asthma and who uses advair the powdered steroid knows about thrush. I gargle with salt water myself when ever I am on steroids. Anytime your immune system is down you can get it as well. I got mine when I was on antibiotics and advair. I switched inhalers since advair is prone to it. I hope you get better soon.

I have been on the highest level of ICS (inhaled corticosteroid) for the better part of 3 years and have only had thrush once. That was a few weeks ago and was caused by high doses of a powerful antibiotic and oral prednesone. I also take a high potency probiotic and eat lots of yogurt. Both of these also keep the thrush from colonizing as much. It is easily treated by diflucan if the other measures don't help.

i got bronchitis and the doc first put me on abuterol and it knocked my heart for a loop and then he put me on advair and it did the same thing so we just stopped it....they are obviously loaded w. steroids and we all know how great that is for all of us....i could call the doc and ask him/her if there is anything out there on the market that they can prescribe to you to keep your bronchials open w. no side effects of the adrenaline rushes....

I took it and man I felt great! Now I got thrush again! Every time I use that stuff I get thrush even tho I rinse my mouth with saltwater! I also noticed it makes me cough! Anyone else have these problems?

Steroids especially those used for breathing like advair can cause Thrush which causes your taste to be off. I had this happen when I was on advair and an antibiotic at the same time. I had to go to my PCP for some other medication for the thrush. I am not a Doctor but I have not heard of Copaxone doing this. Copaxone on rare occassions can cause the salivary gland under the tongue to swell. I had this but it did not effect my taste.

I was diagnosed with COPD at the beginning of this year. My fev1 was 56% pre and went up 24% post. My pulmo put me on Advair 250/50 twice daily. In the beginning it made me feel better but now I have constant side affects. I am someone who is extremely sensitive to all medications, including the ones I have to take for my asthma. I have pretty severe asthma, am 24 and female. I have COPD and I can tell you, you get colds and infections much easier. Advair will cause thrush. Rinse well and eatting yogurt can help. Spiriva is extremely drying and it will make for thick mucus that is hard to cough up. Advair is also drying and I note that your extremely high dose of that inhaled steroid is not generally recommended. I got rid of Spiriva because it was drying. It didn't help anyway. Michelle, so very glad to hear that your appointment went well. I have a suggestion if you are interested. Go to a natural store or a herbalist and get some Grapefruit Seed Extract. GNC won't have it. They likely won't even have heard of it. Make sure it is Grapefruit Seed Extract. Several months ago, I noticed asthma symptoms returning. I saw my pulmonary doc last week and he upped advair to 250/50. How long should it take until I see a noticeable change? Also I have been having a dry cough, which I read can be a side effect of advair. Should that go away eventually?

Im 18 weeks 4 days and have thrush (again - 4th time since falling pg) and last night i used the canesten pessary - i was extra careful when inserting and everything seems ok at the moment but the first doctor i saw told me NOT to use it, and the doc i saw a couple of weeks ago said it was ok.. Has anyone else used the pessary when pregnant?????
