Advair and gerd

Common Questions and Answers about Advair and gerd

advair

Avatar m tn Some things you may want to try at that point are different medications specifically Dulera or Symbicort instead of the Advair and adding allergy medications and nasal sprays. Allergy testing and shots may be needed as well. Finding the cause of the cough is essential to bringing it under control. Please don't hesitate to ask additional questions. I am glad to help in anyway I can. I know it is a rough road. God bless.
Avatar f tn ve learned to combat the GERD by controlling my diet and eating more raw foods seems to do the trick. BUT my asthma really concerns me. When I last braved a nebulizer treatment with Albuterol, about an hour later I felt as if I were going to suffocate. I've ordered a Himalayan salt pipe for this and I PRAY TO GOD that I don't have any adverse reactions to it. I PRAY TO GOD that it works. With all this being said: Can anyone tell me if this condition has a name?
Avatar m tn I know these are allergies related or even the Gerd is causing breathlessness so I have to take albuterol + Advair diskus 250 or something... I know taking that is also causing me to develop rashes here and there but they are gone within days..... SERIOUSLY can anyone be weaned off from these Advair + Albuterol. I know if the Gerd is cured maybe the breathlessness will goaway as well... but sometimes I think the Gerd might have been caused by post nasal drip from all those sinus infections.
Avatar m tn Greetings. There is a strong association between asthma and the diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The effective treatment of GERD can often result in more effective asthma control. While cough can be a symptom of asthma, your description of your illness really does suggest that GERD is the common factor for both your asthma and directly for your cough.
Avatar n tn I became symptomatic when exercising. My pulmonologist put me on advair bid, singulair qd, (combivent and intal prn and before exercise) Been doing fine, but recently been getting phlemy, and tend to clear the throat quiet a bit. I was thinking I was probably coming down with a cold? I do have a hx of gerd, and I take nexium qd, but one thing that happened since I started taking my asthma meds, it seems my gerd symptoms came back.
Avatar n tn Around this time I started to get a sore throat and pain when swallowing. I went back to the drs and was advised to take the advair again for 2 months. The dr had chest and sinus X-rays done and they are clear. Over the last few weeks my voice has started to grow hoarser and I can sometimes feel pain in my chest when swallowing. The dr has persbribed me a Proton Pump inhibitor for reflux. It has been several days and this has done nothing.
Avatar f tn The ENT said GERD. I have been on protonix My GI says it is not GERD. ad endoscopyseveral months afo and was negative for GERD. The pulmonologist said it was laringer spasms and a viral infection in vocal cords. Hospitalized for 3 weeks. Home on 20 days of oral steroids, flovent and nebulizer treatments. I am not feeling better. The coughng and the raspy, hoarse voice is still there and the gasping for air and choking continues but has gotten a little better.
Avatar m tn t go away, which causes me some anxiety in that I think maybe I am having an attack but my rescue meds are not helping. I am 42 years old, normal weight and have been on Advair 500/50 for about 3 years. Xopenex is my rescue inhaler.

Avatar n tn Several months ago, I noticed asthma symptoms returning. I saw my pulmonary doc last week and he upped advair to 250/50. How long should it take until I see a noticeable change? Also I have been having a dry cough, which I read can be a side effect of advair. Should that go away eventually?
Avatar n tn The halitosis suggests GERD. GERD and asthma can go hand in hand. If GERD meds don't trelieve it, get tested for Celiac disease.
Avatar f tn I dropped certain processed foods, I made sure it was brown rice, brown pasta, brown bread, bran in the morning and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. And now I probably have one puff a year, if that.
746512 tn?1388807580 m still getting almost constant asthma symptoms (on max dose of advair), nausea, coughing and clogged nose/ears after eating and bloating. The only thing that works is not eating, doesn't matter if I stay away from the foods that are bad for GERD, any food seems to give me symptoms. And I should be increasing my food intake because I've lost 4 pounds in the last 3 weeks and only 90ib to begin with. Any tips?
Avatar m tn I have moderate to advanced copd and take both advair and spriva. My hep doc didn't see any problem with it For me it came down to a choice of whether or not I wanted to stay of the oxygen tank.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms sound like they are mostly GERD related. You need to go to a new gastro and tell him your symptoms including the asthma/shortness of breath. An upper endoscopy does not completely rule out GERD or not. Asthma is a complication of untreated GERD. I would ask for PH monitoring to see how bad your refuxing. I have been going through the same thing since mid May, except I developed full blown asthma symptoms. I am on Advair, Singulair, and a rescue inhaler.
Avatar n tn Although there are many other causes for sore throat and laryngitis, GERD should be suspected in a patient with chronic sore throat or other GERD symptoms or when no other cause can be found. Severe, long-standing GERD can damage the esophagus and cause a condition known as Barrett's esophagus wherein the normal lining of the esophagus is replaced by a lining more like that of the stomach or intestine.
1679876 tn?1304743615 I have been given Advair to take for my copd, but one side effect is fast and irregular heart beat, chest pain and increased BP----I take Metoprolol succ er for my PSVT--- -Will the Advair Diskus work against my metoprolol meds? I am alllergic to Penasylin, tetrocycoline, decadron, dyphahidromine, and benedril. My other meds I take are: zolof, welbrutrin, seroquel xr, gabapentine, tizanidine hcl and pravastatin sodium----will there be any adverse reactions to any of these meds?
Avatar m tn Was changed by my doctor from advair 500/50 twice a day to flovent 220 two puffs twice a day as he believed the LABA in advair was making asthma worse. He was right and feel better. Even when I haven't been on flovent/advair my peak flow has been totally normal as well as all parts of the pulmonary function test. My only main asthma symptom is tight chest hard to take a good deep breath inward. I've never had a challenge test or anything like that. The asthma popped up around age 21.
Avatar f tn Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots. I am also taking oral contraceptives (I have been informed that this medication may increase the risk for clotting problems). I am feeling more respiratory congestion with each additional day off Advair and would like to know if it's safe to use Advair so soon after wisdom teeth extraction. Thanks!
757137 tn?1347196453 Advair has a steroid in it, which can cause hair growth, etc. I took Advair for my COPD briefly. I simply did not like the side effects that it seem to give me.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
5037123 tn?1362663006 Last week I was diagnosed with Asthma (through a breathing test) after two bouts with Bronchitis and lots of coughing. My doctor gave me Advair. After 3 doses I began getting back pain between my shoulder blades. Not sure if it was from the Advair I took another dose and the pain got worse. I contacted my doctor and he changed me to Symbicort. I had no problem for 3 days, but after today's dose the back pain is back. Is this typical or am I doing something wrong when inhaling.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge Advair® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) has not been linked to strokes. Have you heard anything about this in the lay press?
Avatar f tn They are the same class of medication as Advair, a combined inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting broncho dilater. You may metabolize Advair differently making it ineffective for you. Also, nasal spray steroids and antihistamines are helpful. Do you have excessive mucus? If so, taking a a Mucinex type product daily may help control that aspect. I take a miaximum dosage daily. You did not mention an antihistamine in your medication list.
Avatar m tn Also today i had a slight aspiration issue from what i believe to be GERD related but not yet diagnosed. acid keeps washing into my esophagus and twice today it got into the lungs and now i have a non stop sensation that my lungs are hot and irritated! I am officially laying off the hot wings! It's not the first time i have had this type of hot sensation in my lungs.
Avatar m tn He told me my results were consistent with asthma and prescribed me Advair while also using Proair for relief. Its been one week and the Advair hasnt made my symptoms any better. Im starting to wonder if I have something other than asthma. Any thoughts/advice/feedback? Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn I have emphysema. i use advair twice a day and spiriva one a day. The biggest problem for me is that I always seem to havemucus build up in the mornings. My doctor has told me to try mucinex, but that doesn't seem to work all the time. So i try using albuterol in the morning to help loosen up the mucus so that I can breath better.
