Avatar m tn I am 25 years old, have suffered form adult acne since i was about 14 and had been experiencing lower abdominal pain on my left side for several years. In the last couple of years, I started experiencing hot flashes accompanied by moderate-severe anxiety and depression. Just as an aside, I studied psychology for several years and have earned, not only my bachelors in psych, but also several certifications and honors surrounding my degree ( I start my masters in a couple of months!).
Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend an acne treatment for those cystic acne bumps that take forever to go away? I'm 46 and did Accutane in my 20s with pretty good results until the last several years. I've had the most success with Pro Active, but my skin got really itchy when I wore mineral powder makeup and I kept ruining towels, pillowcases and shirts. I've also tried Acne Free, Murad and Dermatologic plus prescription cream with no luck.
Avatar m tn Hello, For premature acne, if the acne is protected from the sunlight and sometimes an antioxidant treatment if applied in the initial stage to cure the lesions of acne then it can be cured at the beginning. Then medical treatment is the same as adult acne i.e initially benzoyl peroxide and topical antibiotics are used. But they are to be used under medical supervision and not one one’s own.
Avatar n tn Oh, I'm sorry to hear about this. Skin problems are so emotional in nature too because of how we all are about our appearance. But you are not alone. When the health crisis blows over, seeing a dermatologist may be of benefit to you. They do have things they can prescribe. Retin-A is one of them. Some women also have success going on birth control pills when they have adult acne. Make sure your make up isn't contributing to the issue as well.
11083698 tn?1415151204 Hello, I have had a strong craving for salt for many years now. Close to seven years. I eat salt by itself everyday I feel like I need it. If I get to feeling really tired or weak I eat salt and I perk up. I also have bad adult acne, and I never really had acne as a teenager. I'm not sure if these two things are anywhere near related to each other, but if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

1388445 tn?1289267388 About a year ago my husband started developing adult acne. He's 26 years old. Since then it has just gotten worse and worse. It now covers his cheeks, most of his fore-head and down his neck and its starting to scar. It seems like we've tried everything! over the counter acne soaps, creams, lotions, pro-active, prescrisption medication, good hygene; washing his face alot. Sometimes it gets to the white head but some are just bumps. it looks, like irritated.
Avatar f tn that was very noticable and some on the front of his chest that were much larger than acne. He said it was from adult chicken pox? He also had an enlarged lymph node on his neck. He is going to good school in the United States from out of the country and I'm very worried. I have started to develop slight symptoms such as yeast infection, a couple of days after I got sick (no fever), slight fatigue and now I think I might have a lesion on my tongue.
Avatar n tn Hi. My skin has always been clear but about six months ago I got acne. The acne on my face keeps spreading. It's starts off as very small bumps on my face which later get red and swell a little. I also have lots of whiteheads and my acne. I've tried tratree oil and niacinamida and none of them seem to work. Any ideas to what to put on my face?
Avatar n tn Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this). She does Cortosone injections on occasion for the cysts because I cannot, for the life of me, leave my face alone.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.
Avatar n tn Hello ladies, I am 31 years old and 18 weeks into my first pregnancy. I have had very mild adult acne for the past 5 years or so but with this pregnancy it has gone from mild to I don't even want to show my face severe. Can anyone offer any remedies? I follow a daily skin regimen and have never had this issue like this before, all the moms at work say the same thing: it's just hormones.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone! What are your non-intestinal symptoms of Crohn's? How long did it take you to receive a diagnosis? Did the doctor's suspect a different GI issue first? I've been exhausted and hopeless with all the tests and trials to figure out whats wrong and none of my systems seem to be related with any other issue. I'm also very intoverted, so trying to even communicate what's wrong has been a struggle for me.
Avatar n tn I've always had issues with acne the majority of my teen to adult life. The only thing I've ever kinda found to help was tanning beds, obviously now I'm pregnant I've stopped and my skin is so gross! Anyone have any natural remedy solutions or products? I'm sick of it!
Avatar f tn Thank you for taking my question I had a sexual encounter with a man of unknown status . Earlier that evening I had shaved , and I have a lot of acne and shaving usualy opens those up and some of them bleed and flare up. The man pulled out and finished on my face , which I wasn't expecting. I quickly went to the bathroom to clean up. As I was wiping my face with a towel, I noticed some of the acne were red with spots of blood.
Avatar n tn I believe the correlation comes from the release of androgen hormones in your body when you rapidly lose fat. While there are no studies confirming or denying that there is an increase in acne breakouts while taking phentermine, enough people have experienced it, to provide a definite correlation.
Avatar n tn I am in the same boat as you - i started getting acne when i was 21 which i though was a little odd. My dermatologist told me it is common in adult females as it is usually hormonal; however, i refuse to take birth control because i believe the harmful effects outweigh the benefits. I am on perscription to calm the inflammation but for more of a sustainable long-term solution it is important to focus on a low glycemic diet as refined sugars tend to effect hormones.
Avatar f tn Hi. Acne is no longer just a teenage problem. Here in the Uk the average age for acne has now risen above 30 for the first time. Avoid using heavy moisturisers as this can add to the problem. The best over the counter remedy for spots is, in my experience, Freederm. However, prescription medications are often much more beneficial. Talk to your doctor to see if oral or topical antibiotics could help you, and also ask about hormonal solutions.
Avatar n tn Hi. A temporary worsening of acne ("initial outbreak") is common when starting Roaccutane and may also occur when the dosage is increased. This is because unseen pimples come to the surface as the medicine begins to work. Although it is frustrating it is an expected side effect and shows the drug is working. I took Roaccutane in the UK and was not offered anything to lessen this initial outbreak.
Avatar n tn sounds like an adult version of acne known as acne rosacea- google it or check google images - it is completely different to the teenage form of acne vulgaris
Avatar f tn This coincides with the beginning of my acne ( never had it previously) as well as some hair loss, nails randomly falling off etc. I believe this could be hormonal however doctors will not help me at all and say that it will 'settle down' in time.. however it has been 12 months and I am starting to find these symptoms very distressing. I have also asked for blood tests which I understand I should have been getting all along to monitor what is going on / any problems.
Avatar n tn Hello. These two conditions are not noticed with Ritalin. You may have had them coincidentally. Adult ADD is associated with a lot of other psychological problems. To avoid them, you should try and take Ritalin regularly. Can you mention if you had AD/HD symptoms in the childhood?
Avatar f tn It is likely that thyroid autoimmunity might be more frequent in the adult acne patients and this should be kept in mind when screening women with post-adolescent acne". 2. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19327604 "When compared for the presence of each dermatosis, chronic urticaria, vitiligo and pruritus were found to be significantly higher in the patient group with thyroid diseases than in the control group.
Avatar f tn Depending on the cause and severity of your acne, of course. I grew up in a place full of sunshine, and that just burned the acne right off until I outgrew it. We didn't worry about skin cancer back then, of course. You don't say if you adult acne or teenage acne, so we don't know the cause or severity. Neither are we experts here on your medication. But there are more ways to deal with it than just one. Peace.
