Adhd vyvanse

Common Questions and Answers about Adhd vyvanse

Avatar n tn Needless to say, I never got invited to a pill party Now I know I have ADHD and I'm taking Vyvanse. If your daughter has ADHD, Vyvanse isn't going to be very much fun...not much exciting happens when you take it. You feel calmer, can concentrate, remember things better, etc...not a high. However, if she doesn't have ADHD, she'll have fun with the stimulants and will get a rush when she takes them.
Avatar f tn // Hope these help. I am also the CL on the ADHD forum if you have any other questions.
Avatar f tn My husband has been put on the drug Vyvanse for ADHD. My concern is that not many Dr's that I know or pharmacist have heard of this drug. And with the symptoms and all that he has have lead to Chiari 1 malformation. I would like to know what this drug is really meant for and what are the side affects and does this drug have any affect on someone with Chiaris 1 malformation. The Dr's also say that he can go off it cold turkey.
Avatar f tn // Of course the best way is to talk to your psyc and get a lower prescription. I went back and checked out your earlier post and noticed that you might be taking some other meds. Some of those like Prozac and Paxil can counter the V. You really should tell your doc about getting sleepy and see if you can adjust the other meds. Either when you take them or the amount you take.
Avatar f tn My son has been takiing this med Vyvanse for adhd, so I decided to take it to see if it would help me with my depression and anxiety, and it worked great, I didn't have any side effect to it. This is why I ask if its okay to take Vyvanse for my anxiety, right now I'm taking celexa but its not doing nothing for me anymore. I've been taking Celexa for the past 3 yrs and I think its time for me to change my meds.
1549092 tn?1297049911 I think you will find the information useful as it compares Vyvanse vs Adderall XR. Do make sure you also click on their ADHD link at the top of the page once you have finished reading. The site is - You also might want to check out another very good site for adult ADD. Its has a different approach to the matter as it is all done with videos and was recently featured in a special on PBS.
Avatar m tn I started Vyvanse back in August 2010, and it was the miracle that I've been searching for. Over a span of 4 years, I've taken stimulants including: Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison. I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg.
Avatar f tn I've been on vyvanse only for a couple of years. I oh ave adult add not adhd and it is a great drug but now it's starting to turn on me. I have a horrible headache after a few hours and its hard to get up and do anything and change your mode. Also, you have to force yourself to drink water or you will become dehydrated because your so distracted by the drug you have to force yourself to drink fluids.
Avatar m tn Do let your doctor know what is going on. Finding the right dosage is many times a trial and error thing as all people are different. And yes, there are other meds out there that may work better, but all that starts with a trip to the doctor. Give it another shot and then if things still aren't working "tschock" has some very good advice. 5066424 tn?1363139169 Yes, frustration is a part of ADHD. The kids just can't understand why they can't do what other people are doing (primarily in school). The most important thing that you can do is to learn all you can about ADHD! There are some very good sites with excellent practical things you can do. This site has lots of helpful ideas - And another good overall site is http://www.help4adhd.

Avatar n tn Hello I take Vyvanse 40mg for adhd and have for several year. I am interested in seeing the doctor her about phentemine 37.5mg.
Avatar m tn Hi, The fact that you're starting to get depressed doesn't necessarily mean you don't have adhd. There's a blurb in the drug insert about developing depression symptoms while taking Vyvanse. You need to call your doctor and tell her what's going on. Whether or not you have adhd is something you'll have to discuss with your doctor, as she's your best resource. Some people try one medication and it doesn't do a thing for them.
Avatar m tn There typically must be a diagnosis involved of add/adhd. And these drugs don't work on people that don't have add/adhd. Otherwise, it is just speed and all the side effects. People that have add/adhd have a completely different reaction than those that don't. It doesn't hype them up. I'm sorry that you used someone else's meds----------- that is NEVER a good idea. Do not play around with drugs.
Avatar f tn hey guys this is my fourth day taking vyvanse and i heard when the first month is over the euphoria is over. how bad is it after the euphoria is gone?
Avatar n tn hello, i am 29 years old and have struggled with add/adhd and depression (undiagnosed) my whole life. about a month ago i went to my family doctor because of concerns over a recently developed rapid heart beat (95 at rest). while i was there i brought up my add and depression symptoms. he refered me to a psych. my psych told me that vyvanse would help my add and my depression.
Avatar f tn I am going to give you several very good links on parenting a child with ADHD. As you have discovered, it is different then parenting a child who does not have ADHD.
Avatar m tn Ok, I have vyvanse 70 mg tablets. Currently I have been on them for 3 days alotogether. I take the pill when i want to, I've takin 3 pills in one week. My first quesiton (1. Is it safe to take vyvanse when needed? If not what are the harms of it and is it very severe or no?. (2. MY BIG CONCERN. Its a love hate situation for me so far, i love what it does, the concentrating, the happy mood, love it! But I'm having awful side effects. The first day i had none.
Avatar f tn His doctor put him on Vyvanse. He has since flunked out of 2 colleges due to the fact that he can't focus. He IS and has always been a very good athlete, playing football and basketball in high school and college. I assume that is due to the fast-pace of those sports. However, I am beginning to wonder if the Vyvanse is working on the problem. The doctor said that he has to get him on the right dosage and has been changing the strength.
Avatar f tn I'm 16 years old, male, 6'3", 185 lbs. I have been prescribed Vyvanse to treat my ADD symptoms for about two years (currently at 70mg), and the results have been amazing. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA or higher in every grading period so far in my highschool career. But, I have recently noticed that I often get dizzy while doing cardio workouts, and a dangerously high heart rate. However, I'm in no means out of shape, and am extremely ripped.
Avatar m tn Diagnosed with adhd and prescribed Vyvanse ~2 months ago, gradually increased dose from 30mg to 60mg. 60mg worked well for about 1.5 weeks and now I don't feel like it does anything. I know that the upper dosing limit is recommended to be 70mg, but with how ineffective 60mg feels, I worry even the upper limit won't help. Why have I built up a tolerance so fast? What other medications should I ask my MD about that may offer me better symptom relief?
Avatar f tn My son was prescribed Vyvanse at 4 yrs old I just found out it isn't supposed to be given to a child under 6. I am worried about this causing future problems. My son is very aggressive, they say has ADHD and has trouble focusing and staying still. I took him to a new doctor and she recommended having him evaluated by a psychaitrist but said not to take him off the medication until 2 or 3 days before his appointment.
Avatar f tn My 11 yr old son has been taking 6 mg of Intuniv and 60 mg of Vyvanse daily for about 4 years. This combo has successfully managed his ADHD. He is on the smaller side height wise and we asked our Dr. about taking a med break this summer. He agreed and said to discontinue the Vyvanse but continue the Intuniv which we did on Friday. Since then my son has been constantly tired and ravenously hungry.
Avatar m tn Yep, there are sites that I know of that get into this. By the way, a high protein breakfast is apparently very helpful in making V more effective. The sites are; and this info is also helpful Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son, who is ADHD, was taking 30 mg of Vyvanse and it worked fine for like a month and half. The doctor increased his dosage to 40 mg and it was working great, but again the effects seemed to have diminished in two months. The doctor recommended to keep him in the 40 mg of Vyvanse, which he takes in the morning, and in the evening give him 1 mg of Intuniv. Do you know if that will help with his concentration at school?
Avatar f tn I have been taking vyvanse for 3 days to treat ADHD. I was feeling pretty good until this morning I was walking up a hill and noticed some shortness of breath. Then later I was just walking across flat ground and noticed the same. I've also noticed some weird chest sensations and heart palpitations.
Avatar m tn He is not addicted. It doesn't work that way. I would say that these are signs for someone who needs his medication adjusted. It certainly does sound like an overdose. If he did not have ADHD, that much stimulants would wire him higher than a kite. Since he has gone the opposite way, I think the dosage is too high. This is something that his doctor needs to know about. I also think that there is a serious communication problem going on and I blame that on the doctor.
Avatar f tn I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse. I would imagine that these annoying side effects will eventually subside with continued therapy w/Vyvanse. Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first.
