adhd

Avatar f tn When i was about 5 or 7 years old thats when my doctor told my mom i have ADHD. My doctor gave me to take Vyvanse and Strattera. The Vyvanse i take is 60mg capsules and for Strattera i take 60mg capsules to. I had problems over the years. I get distracted very easily but i try not to look or be distracted but its hard sometimes. especially when people are talking, making noise and being annoying is distracting me. There are other stuff i turn my attention to though.
Avatar f tn I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse. I would imagine that these annoying side effects will eventually subside with continued therapy w/Vyvanse. Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first.
Avatar n tn My question is this: Has anyone taken adhd medication such as vyvanse and is in recovery from adrugs and alcohol?
1218509 tn?1267490923 It was very smooth, it lasted around the 12-14 hours my Psychiatrist said it would, and I did not give me any side effects. I would highly recommend Vyvanse to anyone who needs a ADHD/ADD medication. I can only wish you the best experience with this medication once it is available by you.
Avatar f tn I am very healthy except for this disorder, but was seeing a doctor for medication, Strattera when I went on medicaid. Does medicaid cover Stratterra, Vyvanse or Concerta and other ADHD or ADD medications?
Avatar m tn Hi there, looking for insight on lifestyle habits to better manage bipolar and ADHD disorder. Taking 600mg of lithium and 30mg of vyvanse. Wondering what nutrition choices, sleep patterns and work loads people adopt to better manage there experences with or without the medication. Also looking for information on dealing with anxiety as a result of school stress and side effects from medication.
Avatar m tn Just a couple of months ago I was diagnosed ADHD, and Vyvanse was prescribed, along with clonidin. I have to really watch my blood pressure now, because if I miss taking the atenenol, my blood pressure will shoot up over 160 really quick. Is there any solution for people with 2 conditions like this where the medication for one condition diametrically opposes the medication for the second condition ? Would some other blood pressure medication work better than a beta blocker ?

Avatar n tn My son who is 9 yrs old has started Vyvanse since January of this year. He is currently on about 25 mg of Vyvanse. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it takes a long time to kick in, like about 2.5 hours for my son. So often in the morning he will seem unfocused so will not do well during early 8am test. His doctor and I discussed trying Ritalin first in the morning and then adding Vyvanse, which is the reverse of what many people do.
Avatar f tn In short, adhd symptoms. There was a reason why you started Vyvanse, and as you are now stopping it...those reasons are coming back. If you have not done so....you need to read up on Ankylosis Sponilytis. It is a condition that will slowly get worse. And I am not sure that a muscle relaxer is recommended treatment. See - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/ankylosing-spondylitis/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20354813 . And a muscle relaxer is certainly only short term treatment.
573297 tn?1304709140 my pdoc asked me to get my son a referral to him. I did but of course that takes a little while. Meanwhile, my son is on Vyvanse for his ADHD but as with all the stimulants; they get him like night and day and it isn't pretty. He presently has a boxers fracture from getting in a fight with a boy and punching him in the head. The other kid had a concussion. The situation was treated like an assault because the other kid didn't even fight back. This is just the last major event....
990354 tn?1307132886 Adderall feels like speed when someone does not really have adhd. It calms someone with adhd . . . hence your sister is using it inappropriately. Adderall has its place but not for this purpose.
Avatar m tn If you have ADHD and a prescription - no worries even if it does show up. If you don't ....then this search showed that, "Vyvanse is detectable in urine up to 3 days after ingesting Vyvanse. Vyvanse is detectable in hair samples for months after ingestion. Though Vyvanse itself only stays in your system four hours post-ingestion, the active drug d-amphetamine stays in your system for 40 hours.

There is also a good chance that when you tried the adderall, you took too much. With all the these meds, you need to start slowly and let your body get used to them. Same thing might be true for the V. At any rate, do talk with your doc after reading up some more on V. This also might help - http://www.addadhdblog.
Avatar f tn Long story short, 2 people, 2 different ADHD medications. Vyvanse is completely out of system and undetectable in urine in 48-60 hours, Adderall completely out of system in 4-7 days. Personal experience - I take anywhere from 120-200mg of Vyvanse daily. I had negative urinalysis after 48 hours of not taking medication. Hope that helps...
Avatar m tn Diagnosed with adhd and prescribed Vyvanse ~2 months ago, gradually increased dose from 30mg to 60mg. 60mg worked well for about 1.5 weeks and now I don't feel like it does anything. I know that the upper dosing limit is recommended to be 70mg, but with how ineffective 60mg feels, I worry even the upper limit won't help. Why have I built up a tolerance so fast? What other medications should I ask my MD about that may offer me better symptom relief?
Avatar f tn My name is Bob, and I have had ADHD as long as I have lived. I have taken Ritalin for most of my life, but my doctor recently switched my to Vyvanse. Because I had some Ritalin left, I tried it at the same time as the Vyvanse. It worked perfectly. The problem is that the DEA are quite strict, and they don't think that is cool, apparently. Some doctors, however, are fine with writing prescriptions for two ADHD drugs; I just have to find out who they are.
Avatar m tn I have ADHD as well, and I'm not one for taking medicine at all, however, to all of you who say stimulants are "horrible" for you, you obviously do not have true ADHD, and if you do, it's extremely mild. If you truly have ADHD, the likelihood of addiction decreases dramatically, and once you find the right one for you, side effects should be few (headaches, some weight loss, etc). To answer your question, I take Vyvanse.
Avatar f tn I'm 32 years old and have struggled with both Adhd and weight problems. I went to see my doctor and he put me on phentermine 37.5mg once a day and topamax 23 mg in half doeses twice dailey. I also take adderall 20mg twice Dailey. I asked him if theses two meds who interact with one another and his response was no . I guess my question is how do I safely spread them out during the day. It seems I can't get it right because when I take either or I get very anxious .
Avatar f tn I had an allergic reaction to both, Adderall and Vyvanse, and my body refuses to metabolize these type of drugs properly. What do I do now? Just take Wellbutrin XL 150 for life? I'm a total disaster at work w/out the stimulants. Anyone knows of alternatives? I do take Omega-3s, vitamins, acetyl l-carnitine etc.
Avatar f tn i have a 5 year old boy that currently has adhd, but for the past three weeks he has become very very defeint some time to the point that he gets aggressive, could he have odd along with his adhd, right now he is on 40mgs per day of vyvanse for adhd. his doc, gave him .1mg of clonidine to help with his aggreesion. does clonidine help with odd??how long does it take to see improvements??
Avatar f tn My son was just recently diagnosed with ADHD and started on Vyvanse. Sometimes he swallows the pills and sometimes he waste them. Avatar m tn t think this is a hypomania, because I feel normal and less crappy. Personally, I think I have some form of atypical depression, with ADHD, or ADHD and some OCD tendencies (since I have a lot of obsessive thoughts). I started taking Vyvanse at 30mg 6 weeks ago. At the time, I was also taking Wellbutrin and Lamictal (I have definitely had issues with depressive mood swings.) The first two weeks of the medication were amazing.
