1453183 tn?1287852619 I also feel that six years old is too young to medicate a child given research on brain development and delayed cortical thickening in some individuals. (NIH/National Institute of Mental Health (2007, November 13). Brain Matures A Few Years Late In ADHD, But Follows Normal Pattern. ScienceDaily. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/11/071112172200.htm) I'm not completely anti-med. I just feel that there is very little caution when it comes to these drugs.
Avatar f tn There was a mother speaking about her three children with Lyme who exhibited symptoms of ADD, ADHD and OCD. The good news is once they got treated for Lyme, those symptoms diminished. Perhaps you should get your children tested also. I understand your concern as I am a mother of a 4 month-old who I am afraid will come down with symptoms some day. So far he is healthy, but there is always a fear that I passed this to him during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn You were not specific on the symptoms you experience, but my guess is that when you exercise you don't drink water, or you sweat to excess. This will dehydrate you and you will lose salt and other minerals. You can experience shaking of the hands, visual disturbances, headaches, stomach aches, stitches in the sides, exhaustion, low grade temps and other unpleasant symptoms. If this is the case, try drinking a fluid that has minerals in it like Cytomax.
Avatar f tn "Magnesium deficits and increased urinary magnesium excretion can occur in people with insulin resistance and/or type 2 diabetes [24,25]. The magnesium loss appears to be secondary to higher concentrations of glucose in the kidney that increase urine output [2]." - NIH - Magnesium *** "We use serum magnesium, which tells us only about what’s in the bloodstream, not about what’s inside the cells.
1356488 tn?1278132128 I have not been on here for many years- it has taken me about 5 yrs to finally get the doctors to listen to my symptoms and cervical MRI but am going for surgery in June. My question is - has anyone else on this forum had a family member also diagnosed with Chiari 1. As soon as I received positive confirmation of the Chiari I had been saying I have for 5 yrs- I immediately called my younger sister who has been suffering from symptoms for 20 yrs and told her to see her doctor and get an MRI done.
5138787 tn?1364174599 you can imagine this was very hard on me. I suffered from severe migraines, body aches, muscle pain. Symptoms of my adhd were out of control. I couldn't concentrate ... ever. Fast forward to present time and I have a diagnosis for Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Costochronditis (inflammation of tissue between ribs), arthritis, adhd. I have very very frequent infections .. UTI, kidney, sinus, upper respiratory infections. Right now I am on week two of having broncitis and pneumonia. Strep throat...
Avatar f tn My son was been diagnosed with ADD (not ADHD), High Functioning Autism, and a semantic pragmatic language processing disorder at the age of 7. He has been on Adderall XR, 40 mg, in the morning and clonodine at night to help him sleep. He is now 16 and in 10th grade. Over the summer, he has developed some tics, tapping his pencil on the paper several times while writing a paragraph. He is bothered by the tics, but cannot seem to stop them.
Avatar n tn My son has PANDAS and tics and compulsions and ADHD. We have been dealing with his symptoms for five years. How do you find a Dr. who understand and can help you deal with this horrible disease? I don't know how to deal with these repetitive behaviors he gets after illness or being around strep. This fall he has been exposed to strep and he is now doing toe curling tics and finger cracking over and over. It is going on six weeks since they started.
325405 tn?1262293778 Our daughter has a lot of symptoms/signs of autism/PDD, and her three therapists through the state's 0 to 3 program and her pediatrician highly suspect autism. So we are waiting currently for a diagnosis through the specialist but are going through therapies for the various delays she has in communication, social, cognitive (language related), and sensory issues. There are diets out there, specifically the casein/gluten free diet.
Avatar f tn Cardiologist was seen, and no concern was shown over any abnormalities in heart rhythm, blood pressure, or other cardiac issues. Psychologist was seen in regards to ADHD worsening. ADHD was reconfirmed, as was an auditory processing disorder and a possible visual processing disorder. No depression, anxiety, or mood disorders were diagnosed.
467707 tn?1270932240 back then, teachers (and principals) just dealt with them. NOW they would be diagnosed with ADHD. My point is, one of the reasons autism and ADHD are more prevalent is because they are more recognized. There was no such thing as autism or ADHD in the early 70's when I was in elementary school. That doesn't mean kids didn't have the exact same symptoms. So when they say rates of ANYTHING have increased, you have to look at the history.
1947387 tn?1325644930 How long did it take you after diagnosis to reach the correct dosage? (Not necessarily with all your symptoms resolved, but where you no longer had to keep getting blood work every 4-6 weeks) I understand it will always need to be adjusted somewhat every year or two, but I read "The Thyroid Solution" and the Dr. who wrote it referred to patients who were euthyroid 1-2 months into treatment! Is this normal??
Avatar n tn I personally do not think that is the cause of your daughter's ADHD. My son also has been dx'd with ADHD. ...if that disorder actually exists. I think several deficiencies or toxicity in the body loads us (them) with several symptoms that doctors have just come to call ADHD. Have her mercury levels checked. I'm still trying to get this done with my son. High levels of mercury given in childhood vaccinations has been linked as being a cause of ADHD, Autism, Allergies..etc.
802547 tn?1237850517 com/health/autism-treatment/AN01519) that any diet improves or worsens the symptoms of autism spectrum disorders. In fact, whole grains and dairy products are an important part of a healthy diet for most children. “Food allergies are like Iran and Iraq. Glial cells (they’re like chef cell) provide food to the neuron kings. Glial cells can turn into Rambo to fight Iran and Iraq. If a child is allergic to everything, the Rambo cells stop feeding the neurons and the neurons starve.
2000931 tn?1401566607 Is there anyone who is trying nutritional strategies to mitigate symptoms? I've started following some dietary guidelines, and it would be nice to know if there are other having any success with this. I could kill for a slice of pizza right now, but ... no wheat!
Avatar n tn I've been taking peginterferon and rebatol for 20 weeks. What are the depression symptoms? I feel very weak, tired and no motivation in doing nothing and have hard problems sleeping. Am I depressed? Am I depressed because I'm tired or am I tired because am depressed? In other words...Does it start from my brain or my body?? I'm so confused. Can the meds I'm taking do that?
Avatar m tn Also I wonder if those with hep C who were dx ADHD are misdiagnosed as far as ADHD and are experiencing the effects the virus has on the brain. I don't know if doctors use MRI's as part of the exam to dx ADHD.
147426 tn?1317269232 After Craig was initially told by a NIH neuro who had three other NIH neuros look at the brain cd's tell him he has Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus and "black holes" and brain atrophy, the NIH neuro later changed his story and told Craig that he is just perceiving his leg weakness. You need to see a psychiatrist for severe depression. This was said to Craig even after a NIH physiatrist and neuro-opthamologist and occupational therapist documented that Craig presents like PPMS.
17568 tn?1424977159 I find it mighty interesting then that the NIH gives him credence, the FDA enlists his services, the American Cancer Society mentions him among other doctors in the references on their page on Alpha Lipoic Acid, the Australian Hep C site has a thorough and authoritative article written by someone else on his protocol and the Canadian CATIE site for AIDS makes mention of his protocol as well. And that was all on a brief search on Alpha Lipoic Acid alone.
Avatar f tn After much Googling and research on the NIH website I discovered Licorice Root Tea and Extract plus 'Bluebonnet Targeted Multiples Men's Choice Caplets'. The combo has killed my warts, I noticed a difference on day 2. Unfortunately, I have the aftermath of 5-6 nasty cystic pimples on face but I have no doubt that the HPV in my system is dead or dying. The formula I came up with duplicates the medicine given to the people in this study on HPV: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
685562 tn?1447158831 First of all, I deal with Anxiety just about every day, either mental, or physical. And I dont want this to sound like a rant, or Conspiricy theroy, etc, but I do want everyone to hear me out. Im sick of hearing about all of us getting the same remarks from Doctors "its anxiety..its depression..etc" Sounds to me like they partied to much in Med school and use the whole "mental health" thing to make themselfs look smarter..or like they have the answer.
573038 tn?1235398145 Its been two years now and my health has got continuously worse. every day i experience these symptoms now.. Heart palpitations 'fluttering' in my chest. Avatar n tn since he was 5 months old he has gotten fevers up to 106 (never lower than 102). He has never had any other symptoms except one UTI. I've taken him to numerous hospitals and pediatricians and no one can give me any answers. He isnt in daycare and i also have a 7th month old daughter who never catches what he has which makes me even more scared. His peds have done tons of blood work but could never come up with anything.
Avatar n tn If you've been diagnosed with Chiari 1 and they haven't mentioned surgery, you'll just need to keep track of any symptoms and get regular MRI's. The most common form of Chiari Malformation is Type 1, it often manifests later in life (not at birth, but sometimes in children) with headaches and cerebellar symptoms like dizziness and memory/concentration problems. The cerebellum in the lower back of the brain starts extending down past the skull into the spine.
Avatar n tn Washing the face with fairly hot water relieves these symptoms but a slight rosieness remains at the lower edge of the nose. I believe this is caused by a microscopic parasite which is highly contagious. Therefor, it would follow that ,unchecked, the parasite will inhabit the entire community. I believe this has already occurred and so your spouse has it (they aint talkin') as well as the doctor (he says it is psycological) and even Obama has it.
Avatar n tn Whenever I start another treatment I have a short period of relief. It always comes back...longest time without symptoms 10 days. Like eveyone else, I have thrown all makeup, lotions, and soaps away. Washed sheets, pillow cases, and put pillow in the dryer. This has become debilitating and I am becoming depressed. I have a high profile job and don't want to be seen because I look like I have some awful disease. Can anyone suggest a next step?
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed both Zoloft and Prozac with Klonopin for the symptoms of anxiety and depression, but I still seem to pick at me head. The kicker is that I also do this in my sleep. I will literally wake up with blood under my nails. What treatment options are there other than medication? Should I tell my primary care physician or should I talk to a psychiatrist? What are some of the causes of this, could it be OCD?
Avatar m tn I posted this info before, but it was a reply to someone else's similar post... I am a 23 year old healthy male. I recently had a full physical and the results were that I am in above average health. I have no diseases, do not use drugs, but drink on occasion. Anyways, just started noticing these strange symptoms, within the past few weeks. Nothing "brought it on" so to speak that I can tell of.
