1356488 tn?1278128528 I have not been on here for many years- it has taken me about 5 yrs to finally get the doctors to listen to my symptoms and cervical MRI but am going for surgery in June. My question is - has anyone else on this forum had a family member also diagnosed with Chiari 1. As soon as I received positive confirmation of the Chiari I had been saying I have for 5 yrs- I immediately called my younger sister who has been suffering from symptoms for 20 yrs and told her to see her doctor and get an MRI done.
5138787 tn?1364170999 you can imagine this was very hard on me. I suffered from severe migraines, body aches, muscle pain. Symptoms of my adhd were out of control. I couldn't concentrate ... ever. Fast forward to present time and I have a diagnosis for Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Costochronditis (inflammation of tissue between ribs), arthritis, adhd. I have very very frequent infections .. UTI, kidney, sinus, upper respiratory infections. Right now I am on week two of having broncitis and pneumonia. Strep throat...
Avatar m tn Yes, Risperdal is often used for adhd now. Not as a sole treatment but an add on. Are you on any other adhd meds? I don't know your complete med list which would be helpful. 1 in 5 children treated with adhd is on risperdal as well. https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/874722 You should have a diagnosis from your doctor. Anyway to ask the question specifically? When do you do a med check?
Avatar m tn They are looking at it for depression, bipolar, adhd. They say that Neurofeedback can benefit those suffering from bipolar, as neurofeedback helps retrain the brain to have more emotional control, contributing to better, more stable moods, thereby lessening feelings of depression and anxiety. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6823520/ AND https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04078438 I guess there are some side effects from it though.
Avatar f tn I didnt have a syrinx found in my head and neck MRI but no scan was done any lower, nerve pain and symptoms have increased since then and it has been over a year since those scans were done. So many are worse off than me. I want to have some hope with this as my life has changed in the last 2 years but I unfortunately have had too many people just put me on the back burner. Oh well. I still have my fingers crossed.

Avatar m tn Due to this I have a running nose and asthametic symptoms featuring suffocation and watered eyes. All this is reduced when i stay indoor. I m using antiallergic medicine alongwith inhaller with the name 'Clenil Compositum Spray' composed of Beclomethsone Dipropionate & Salbutamol-metered aerosol but symptoms are still there even becoming worse day by day. What should I do? Is there any permenant cure to pollen allergey? Can I find that cure in Pakistan? Where and How?
Avatar n tn Your son may well display ADHD, but it is important to arrange a thorough evaluation and not rush too quickly to the diagnosis. The on-line surveys can be useful tools to see if a person might display symptoms typical of ADHD, but a thorough assessment will consider a child's medical history, family history, current functioning at home and in school, possible alternative explanations for the symptoms identified on the surveys, etc.
Avatar f tn He is sleeping and eating better, but that is it. Dr has said he has oppositional defiant disorder adhd and a very strong possibility of bi polar disorder. I can not even send him to school with the way he is behaving. Has anyone experienced a spike in violent behavior while on Seroquel? Dr has not returned my numerous calls. I am desperate!!!!!!
645800 tn?1466860955 Yesterday when I went to the VA I got very stressed out and soon found that I was developing TN pain on the left side of my face. once I got home and slept for about 15 hours the TN stopped. This was purely stress from my PTSD symptoms. I know that stress can aggravate MS symptoms, but I'm looking for research or other documentation of this fact to present to the VA so that they will treat the effects of this stress as being service connected.
Avatar f tn My Johns Hopkins neurologist dx me with PPMS. My symptoms have progressed, but I still can walk. The numbness in my feet has moved up my legs to my knees, I have banding tightness around my abdomen, and my head and around my teeth gets tight. I have shooting pains in my lower jaw. The fatigue is unbearable and I stopped working. I just saw a urologist and now have to cath ever 4 hours due to inability to feel the "urge" and empty my bladder.
Avatar f tn You seem so knowledgeable about the endocrine system. As you know, symptoms are living hell. Looking forward to NIH consultation. Armed with knowledge, I want the best. In mean this is my brain right???
Avatar f tn My son was been diagnosed with ADD (not ADHD), High Functioning Autism, and a semantic pragmatic language processing disorder at the age of 7. He has been on Adderall XR, 40 mg, in the morning and clonodine at night to help him sleep. He is now 16 and in 10th grade. Over the summer, he has developed some tics, tapping his pencil on the paper several times while writing a paragraph. He is bothered by the tics, but cannot seem to stop them.
327385 tn?1378360731 Sounds like your talking about my daughter, and she has ADHD. They started her off on Adderal XR, but she is now on Vyvance (sp). She did and does all the things you have listed, including the stealing and not knowing why. Your best bet is to try and find a peds doctor that specializes in ADD/ADHD. If she is found to have ADHD, so of the things she does might not go away, like the stealing.
333672 tn?1273792789 The New York Times has an interesting article on the Undiagnosed Diseases Program at NIH where they are taking a team approach to trying to diagnose or identify what's going on with people who have complicated problems that have eluded diagnosis. They are also doing a lot of genetic investigation to see if they can pick up any patterns that way. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/22/magazine/22Diseases-t.html A couple of interesting tidbits.
Avatar n tn In 2002, for example, only about $2 million was spent for motility research, and very few, if any, research dollars were spent by the NIH on research for effective treatment options. The simple fact is that not enough is even KNOWN about this condition, and because it's so often misdiagnosed (as either dyspepsia, GERD, or even as a psychological issue), the condition goes largely ignored.
Avatar f tn I hate to tell you this, but it sure sounds like pregnancy to me.
Avatar m tn By the way, I have seen several studies that show that sleep apnea can produce ADHD like symptoms. In fact, there have been several posters on here that have had sleep apnea, been treated and their daytime behaviors definitely changed. Has anybody ever commented about you snoring or breathing loud at night? "Regardless of type, an individual with sleep apnea is rarely aware of having difficulty breathing, even upon awakening.
572651 tn?1530999357 Imagine what progress could be made if everyone on March 17 drank just one less beer and donated that money to NIH or to NMSS for research. This also tells us how underfunded the NIH is for MS research. I've shared this thought over on my Facebook page and encourage all of you to share it as well, it helps to illustrate how our priorities need to shift. http://msactivist.blogspot.com/2012/03/federal-fridays_09.
Avatar m tn NIH, the nation's medical research agency, includes 27 Institutes and Centers and is a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NIH is the primary federal agency conducting and supporting basic, clinical, and translational medical research, and is investigating the causes, treatments, and cures for both common and rare diseases. Avatar f tn In short, adhd symptoms. There was a reason why you started Vyvanse, and as you are now stopping it...those reasons are coming back. If you have not done so....you need to read up on Ankylosis Sponilytis. It is a condition that will slowly get worse. And I am not sure that a muscle relaxer is recommended treatment. See - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/ankylosing-spondylitis/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20354813 . And a muscle relaxer is certainly only short term treatment.
Avatar f tn But when inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsive behavior are the norm for a child, it may be a sign of ADHD. ADHD can lead to problems at home and at school, with family, teachers, and peers, so it’s important to identify the symptoms and get help.
