adhd

Avatar m tn These days there actually are neurological tests that support ADHD diagnoses. Symptoms and careful, loving team work, being an advocate for yourself or your child are what is most important. Nothing can be accomplished by hurting eachother. Of course there are people who are misdiagnosed with adhd when they should not be.
1645341 tn?1401063612 at first he was diagnosed with ADHD. He is currently on ADHD medications, and they do not seem to be helping. During one visit to his therapist he had a violent fit, and she decided that the symptoms I insisted he had and what she was seeing was symptomatic of Bi-Polar disorder. They refused to change his medications to reflect the new diagnosis. My child has the most horrible fits while he is at home.
Avatar n tn Marrying a woman with a child with this kind of disorder requires a superhuman commitment, yet I do not feel as though her commitment is to the marriage as much as her sons special needs. I am going to try to find support groups but if anyone has any useful sugguestions, I am listening.
Avatar n tn Recently I have come to the conclusion that he has adult ADD/ADHD. I have read extensively on this and I know I'm no doctor or medical professional but I really feel he has this. It describes him to a tee, and stuff his parents have told me about his childhood also seem to pinpoint that he had this problem as a child. It drives me up the wall because i ask him to do simple things for me and forgets ALL THE TIME.
346355 tn?1219858547 It took me six months to reach her and convince her that it was this disease that was largely responsible for our marriage difficulties, and not me. She is so irrational, that she is ready to throw away a 14-year marriage, and leave with no place to go and no money. She was ready to take the kids and move 5 hours away to her mother's. I've watched her make bad descision after bad descision, and become completely self absorbed.
Avatar f tn Modafinil Is newly being tried in some cases of Adhd and a drug that is being tested for bipolar.I take modafinil, which is primarily used for narcolepsy. To help with not only my Adhd symptoms ( which has really helped me especially with my concentration) and has helped with the depressive symptoms I get with my rapid cycling bipolar too.
Avatar f tn Many other conditions and situations can trigger behavior that resembles ADHD.
Avatar m tn Growing up under certain conditions may make it appear that the kid has ADHD without having it. Attachment problems or disorders may show similar symptoms like ADHD and Autism spectrum disorders, and the doctor need to evaluate all factors to make a right diagnosis. It is so impossible to say if she has ADHD or not, but she should be evaluted both for ADHD and attachment problems or disorders.
Avatar n tn My husband and I had a long talk with a couple of people, one with an adhd child and a grandchild with adhd and other coexisting disabilities. They really helped us. My husband has agreed to let me do the disciplining and dealing with my daughter when she is freaking out. Basically we are going to just let her go until she calms down. When you do anything she gets worse. I will give her a time out if she hits or kicks anyone.

Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
Avatar n tn I can be tired after 12 hours sleep! Can I be suffering symptoms from my thallassemia. Does any one else feel the same way that I do? This is a little bit hard for me, but I don't want to complain.
Avatar f tn Right now I'm at the point where I don't know what is affecting what and whether I should be worried about an underlying cause or I'm just getting anxious and self projecting my worries into painful symptoms. A quick history of the past year's symptoms, diagnosises and issues: - Diagnosed with adult adhd 3 years ago and on vyvanse since then. Currently I'm on a 80 dosage. - Went through an extremely stressful period because of work prior to this year and was also having marriage problems.
Avatar n tn I would like to get her assessed for that as well as adhd. She was diagnosed with adhd but the Dr now has decided that we are exagerrating and that she just has anxieties.
Avatar n tn As far as your symptoms, I'm sure it's too early to be feeling symptoms of pg. Once an egg is fertilized it takes approximately 6-10 days for the egg to travel down the fallopian tube and implant in your uterus. Only AFTER implantation occurs does your body start to accumulate the hcg hormone and then you might start to experience symptoms. I believe it's still too soon for you to be experiencing pg symptoms, because you might not even be implanted yet if you are pg.
Avatar n tn D. at marriage counseling. He has not followed up with treatment. Do you see symptoms of A.D.D. in our grandson? What is our next step?
Avatar n tn The only advice I know may have a chance of reaching your wife is for her to try a course such as 'Insight Seminars' or 'Landmark Forum' or 'Sedona Method' Something that addresses her deep seated issues quite quickly followed by ongoing psychotherapy with a good therapist familiar with ADHD issues and or a marriage counsellor. Good luck. I would agree the prognosis looks very bad for you as a couple.
Avatar n tn My husband and I have been quarreling over his treatment of our son for years and it has put a strain on our marriage. I don't know if I should preserve my marriage or spare my son from the terrible relationship with his father. Any advice?
8012558 tn?1399312257 To me it was just common sense instincts. Some kids that have “ADHD” like symptoms don’t necessarily have ADHD at all. It’s just their personality character at the time, it may even be learned behavior. So be careful, and good luck to you .

Avatar f tn He does show some of the classical symptoms of ADHD, and this is something that you might want to explore with the school system. I also imagine having a new baby sister around and constantly switching between homes also has a very strong effect on him. So, I do think that there are several factors going on. At some point in time he is going to need professional help to deal with all of this.
Avatar m tn She also covers symptoms, ways to get help at school and a lot of very useful things including discipline. I think the book will also help you figure out if his symptoms are similar enough to ADHD to seek a professional diagnosis. I can also recommend web sites for that, but I like all the other stuff she recommends, which is why on the ADHD forum, I recommend this book a lot. By the way, with kids of his age - discipline should still be very immediate, consistent and short.
458192 tn?1206244619 The history of my ex is not bad, however he does have 50/50 custody and now I am starting to wonder if his behavior isnt being stimulated from his fathers relationships and him treating Patrick like an adult.. Our marriage broke up because my ex met a girl on the internet, move her and her children down - Patrick Exposed - She is gone.... Met another girl online - Children moved in - Gone..
Avatar n tn What Are the Symptoms? The primary symptoms of bipolar disorder are dramatic and unpredictable mood swings. The illness has two (BI) strongly contrasting phases (polar).
704262 tn?1247678238 I recall a canadian medical booklet sent to me by a lady here stating that OCD, PD and ADHD are gateways to BP. My pdoc told me OCD is a step which can morph into BP like a bus stop with the latter its terminus. Some here object to this view. Upon much reflexions, I came to identify my OCD as psychosis and not OCD, i.e.
202436 tn?1326477933 But, the seed had been planted and it got me thinking. Then recently when DH and I started marriage counseling the therapist said something about me possibly having signs of ADD or ADHD (which I have NEVER been told before). I then brought up the tic thing and she said "It's funny that you brought that up, I was going to ask you about that because of what you've been doing with your hands" So now I'm really wondering if there isn't something screwed up in my head.
Avatar n tn Try reading 123 Magic, "Power Parenting for ADD/ADHD Children" by Grad Flick PhD and "Taking Charge of ADHD" by Russell Barkley PhD These will give you the skills to "TRY" to deal with this in an effective manner. My son used to do the same things so I know what you are going through. Spanking and yelling and time out usually do no good with this - just makes it worse.
Avatar m tn He certainly has many, many symptoms of ADHD - probably the inattentive type - which would explain a lot. Avatar f tn OK, so, she and one sibling are your biological children, with the woman you are married to or with another woman? And then there are two step siblings from a first marriage of your wife? I assume they are older than your 10-year old and then her younger sibling is younger than herself? How does she get along with the other kids?
