612876 tn?1355514495 Alright, it's been a long time coming, but I've finally at least *started* it. I'm indexing my collection of journal articles where it's accessible to you all. Here in OUR health pages. This is going to be a labor of misery ....er, I mean LOVE. Ha! This is going to take a long time to complete, and of course as there are new journal articles coming out monthly ... NO, I don't even want to *think* about that. Let's just be happy that I embarked!!
Avatar f tn • Patients with POTS scored significantly higher on inattention and ADHD subscales than control subjects. These symptoms were not present during childhood. Conclusions: Patients with POTS do not have an increased lifetime prevalence of psychiatric disorders. Although they may seem anxious, they do not have excess cognitive anxiety. They do experience significant inattention, which may be an important source of disability. Source: Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry.
Avatar f tn Hi guys I am at doctors and we are talking about ADHD and testing. Has anyone been tested for it? Take meds? What's it all about and how do you know if you have it?
Avatar f tn First, I don't know how old your child is ...as that makes a difference. Yes, he could have normal results since this is a test designed to be "used for assessing the core symptoms of ADHD: hyperactivity, inattention and impulsivity." Furthermore, the makers of the test say that, "The QbTest results should always be complemented by a clinical interview." Did these doctors interview your child or give any questionnaires to you or his teachers?
Avatar m tn Yes, risperdal is commonly added when someone is diagnosed with adhd. What symptoms did you have prior to the adhd? What kind of testing did you have? Any issues when ON medication should be brought to the attention of the doctor who prescribed it. That's really important. And also letting them know about any other meds you take from any different care providers.
1050179 tn?1253899186 Does anyone know where I can find articles that are concrete in using methadone for chronic pain? I'm on 110mg's of liquid methadone and have to go to the clinic twice a week because I have 5 take home days. But I don't want to have to go there anymore to get the medicine. - At first,I went there because I was taking percocet for my FM pain and kept having to take more and more to get the relief I needed.
Avatar f tn //www.helpguide.org/articles/add-adhd/attention-deficit-disorder-adhd-in-children.htm Its also possible that she could have a learning disability which is kind of normal for kids with ADHD, so she should also be tested for that. And she also has some symptoms for Sensory Processing Disorder. Here is a link for that. https://www.additudemag.com/slideshows/signs-of-sensory-processing-disorder/ I hope this gives you enough information to start getting her some help.
Avatar f tn I did some research on some stuff that has been going on with me since I was a child and I strongly think I could be add/adhd. I know that I am no doctor and cannot diagnose myself but every time I bring up testing me for this my psychiatrist just kind of shrugs it off saying that it could be something else and while I do respect that she is more educated in this than me I also do not see the harm in a test.
973741 tn?1342342773 Thanks for your input, Sandman. You also answered me 5 years ago, and I read up on some of the things you recommended at the time. He has been diagnosed with ADHD, ODD (he scored 89% on that test) and, because they couldn't really pinpoint his situation, said he's on the autism spectrum with a very high IQ I might add. So yes, he's seen psychiatrists, psychologists, went to classes for social skills in school, went to OT for his low tone and has an IEP.

Avatar f tn for those interested but without university/hospital library access, talk to your local reference librarian about inter-library options to get access to articles. There are almost always fees for copies of journal articles obtained from other libraries, but costs are generally less than buying the article outright from the journal itself.) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.

Avatar f tn Since you posted on an ADHD forum, ADHD must be going through your mind. With good reason. He is showing many of the symptoms. And, if he does have ADHD, what you (and the school) are doing will only make things worse - as you are beginning to find out. I could not tell from your post if he is having the same problems at home. That is pretty important to know. Also, if he had these problems last year. If this has only happened this year, that changes things.
Avatar m tn Yes, Risperdal is often used for adhd now. Not as a sole treatment but an add on. Are you on any other adhd meds? I don't know your complete med list which would be helpful. 1 in 5 children treated with adhd is on risperdal as well. https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/874722 You should have a diagnosis from your doctor. Anyway to ask the question specifically? When do you do a med check?
Avatar f tn My son is a very active child ,veeery active, yet once he has found something that interrests him greatly he will stay in one place and focus on that perticular thing. My sons father has ADHD and there are several other disorders in the family on his side. I always accepted the fract that there would be a great possibility that my son would have ADHD as well,. I waited until he went to kindergarden and showed struggling academically, and in his behaviour, communicating with the teacher helped.
1752816 tn?1312180299 bipolar II, adhd, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder. Some days I don't want to do anything just because of all the pain. My family and I agree that bipolar II is not likely...I am not depressed. The mania and the ADHD seem so similar. I am currently on amphetamine salts for ADHD, Lithium for Bipolar, and Trazadone for sleep and anxiety. I do not want to be on all of this.

Finally, there are things that you can do at home to make it better for him and you. These two links should be helpful http://www.additudemag.com/adhd/article/879.html http://www.additudemag.com/adhd/article/985.html Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I also get severe bloating 10 days before my period I get very depressed and anxious and my adhd unfortunately worsens and isn’t controlled by my adhd meds. My adhd meds usually work the week after my period but then they don’t work when I ovulate and really have no effect after that. I also have hashimotos (not taking thyroid meds since my doctor said it hasn’t effected my thryoid levels) and I had surgery for endometriosis recently.
Avatar f tn //www.medhelp.org/add-adhd/articles/Dont-Believe-These-10-ADD-ADHD-Lies/5?page=2 I assume he is in Kindergarten? Have his teachers made any comments on his behavior? Seeing a doctor is a good idea.
Avatar n tn pdf before you read the journal i want you to know that i am extremely adhd, and so is my son, now i blamed myself for a very long time because i believed that his developmental problems was a result of me taking paxil when i was pregnant, but the more i research this, the evidence pointts more toward genetics than anything else do not drown yourself in a sea of guilt, the past is the past, we can move forward by doing the next right thing early in recovery i did this parenting in recovery wo
