1699033 tn?1514116733 So I am wondering what other parents have done as far as college goes for their ADHD child. Has anybody sent their child to college and had them be successful? If so, were they in a special program or was the college just going by the IEP? Thanks.
5757880 tn?1395581622 Hi there, Magnesium, Vitamin D and Zinc in studies showed to have a very positive impact on Children with ADHD. 95 % of ADHD Children have a low leel of magnesium. Your doctor should make a blood, a urin and hair sample to determine the level and set the dosage.
Avatar f tn ADHD is a hereditary thing in my family and I have it really bad. I'm just now starting to think that maybe I have anxiety too due to panic attacks and all the things I've read here that I totally relate to. Sometimes when I'm laying down to go to sleep or when I wake up in the middle of the night, I feel like I'm breathing in taste-less particles similar to hair spray. This feeling freaks me out because I can't really explain it... Getting up and getting a glass of water never helps it.
Avatar f tn old nephew who has dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, auditory processing disorder and cognitive processing disorder. He has so much against him and he feels that he will never learn. Book learning is not helping him. He has gone from 2nd grade reading to fifth, but doesn't understand or comprehend all the time. What he learns one day, he forgets that next. It is frustrating for him more than me. I don't know how to help him.
Avatar n tn My sister has started a new medication Concerta 54mg for her adhd and it is the only medicine that has actually worked for her in everything. She has been looking for an ideal med for 3 years and finally found one. Well, she hasn't eatin anything in 8 days straight, she says she is not hungry. She is 15 and still growing so she should be eating. See she drinks a lot of water and soda and things like that, but no food.
1346724 tn?1282326504 It did make a small difference but not enough to keep paying so much money to buy those special foods. There is a book you can get that is really helpful and explains a lot and has recipes. Hope this helps!

250155 tn?1485299539 I have a friend who's two sons were diagnosed with ADHD and she didn't want to put them on meds. She was really into the natural foods, etc. She researched and began to give them flaxseed every day. She claims she saw a vast improvement in their behavior and ability to focus, etc. when they were on the flaxseed. When she stopped using it for awhile, they went back. This is what she claims anyway. I've always been interested in nutrition and natural products. I say "Go for it!
Avatar f tn I have been trying to find an accurre assesment thru an specialist for his behavior but I have conflict versions, one is Detachment Disorder, another ADHD, another Sensory Disorder, in seems there are many disorders names but not solutions. Does anybody have a recommendation? This discussion is related to <a href=''>5 Year old behavior problems....</a>.
Avatar f tn Most recently, he pretended to take his ADHD medication and walked out of bathroom and fed it to her. This caused her to have a seizure, nearly dying. He inflicts self injuries and tries to blame everyone else. He had a 1:1 male aide assigned to him for his IEP. He was so badly behaved the aide quit his job. He drinks out of toilets, picks through garbage if he sees someone throw away food he wants.
Avatar m tn com/journals/jama/fullarticle/194106 Soy is also very high in manganese, MUCH higher than breast milk, which may lead to neurological problems and ADHD . Soy infant formula is also high in aluminum, which can cause all sorts of problems.
Avatar f tn Auto-immune illnesses, eczema, migraines, IBS, chronic depression, ADHD, autism, Fibromyalgia, other severe mental illnesses and even cancer. And, these are the illnesses besides Celiac that gluten intolerance can cause. That spacey feeling is often called brain fog. Gluten intolerance definitely causes this in many people. My family has been hit with several of the illnesses I mentioned above. Gluten intolerance most definitely exasperates these conditions.
5757880 tn?1395581622 ) (yes, I'm usually this cheery) Okay, I have started my son (who is diagnosed ADHD) on a high protein diet (mostly in the morning). He refuses to eat eggs (we've tried all kinds), but I have gotten him bacon, sausage and yogurt with extra protein and no dyes in it. I have him taking a Omega 3/DHA gummy in the morning. We cannot allow any types of nuts in the house (I know, high protein) because my youngest is severely allergic to peanuts. Is there anything else I should try?
Avatar m tn I have also studied extensively the immune system, and other related health issues, and believe I have a higher knowledge than doctors on synthetic allergens now, for lack of studies being done in the medical society on this. Pardon my spelling please. I had severe adhd growing up and spelling was a weak subject for me.
6484018 tn?1381723861 I have 15mg of Adderall daily also for ADHD and Lexapro for depression and just recently the doctor added a ed for sleep called Remron. How should I use these scripts to my benefit or how should I not use these scripts to my benefit? I am also taking L-tyrosine with a vitamin B complex twice daily on an empty stomach along with another vitamin my friend supplied because he beat subs about there months ago with s ton of vitamins. Any and all advice is acceptable and will be incredibly helpful.
Avatar m tn I have already gotten rid of everything toxic in the house and only use those homemade recipes for non-toxic cleaning. And, I've changed over to non-toxic cosmetics and personal care products.
Avatar f tn the more I can wrap my head around what he is going through. I have really bad ADHD..worse than he I understand why he is not doing some things properly. I still have to watch over him to make sure he brushes his teeth, gets his clothes on right, takes a bath...though he has a really high IQ. When he is involved in whatever has his attention...the other stuff just does not matter or is not important.
202436 tn?1326477933 I had allergies to more things than not as a baby/ brother was also adhd and had issues from being molested, rather than medicate him she went with the feingold diet. It seemed to help tremendously. This was back in the 70's and at one point they wanted to institutionalize my bro and she refused...she continued therapy and the feingold diet and he is now about to turn 38 and is a warrant officer/flight instructor and right hand man to his unit commander in the army.
Avatar n tn First of all I don't think I am bipolar, I believe a more accurate diagnosis would be General Anxiety Disorder, possibly ADHD (note that I was on ritalin as a kid), and depression. I have scheduled a psych appointment, it will be my first in years. I just can't handle the anxiety attacks and long term depression anymore. BUT I AM WORRIED IN A MAJOR WAY ABOUT THE MEDICINES THAT MIGHT BE PRESCRIBED !!
Avatar n tn I myself have a 7 year old that does all the same things but he has been diagnosed with autism and ADHD since the age of 2. He is not verbal but has stuck to the word BYE when he gets angry or wants something he repeats himself over and over non stop louder and louder he will fight anyone who tries to touch him even his teachers. He is also taking .1mg clonidine and 300mg seroquel am 300mg seroquel noon and .
1886897 tn?1328331136 Long story short, I Always drank to get drunk but always had a reason to drink and was good at hiding it. (I thought) Early on I cooked with wine and the Graham Kerr recipes called for wine for the dish and wine for me. (he is a fellow recovery person celeb now lol). From my abusive marriage to being a single Mom I can list all the reasons why I drank but none of them were true. I drank because #1 I am an alcoholic, #2 I am constitutionally unprepared to deal with life on life's terms.
Avatar n tn Since we had adopted our grandson, I have to keep up with a red headed 12 year old with ADHD and ODD. It was getting harder each day. I finally searched, and found that I could order it again, and feel 30 years younger again. Flex Protex is unbelievable! My neighbor gives it to her dog, and the dog acts like a puppy again.
393685 tn?1425816122 Right now (since I started my Adderall for my ADHD), I'm lucky if I take in 1500 calories a day since I'm never hungry anymore and have to remind myself to eat....still have only lost 20 lbs. We've determined that I'm just not normal :) I did think back and realized that I was not 100% G/F, but was more about 90% to 95% gluten free. I had even cut out my sun tea since tea has gluten in it (boy was that ever hard too!).
547368 tn?1440545385 Lynne, Sorry but I couldn't help but chuckle..."Retired Husband's Syndrome" at first. But now I am really scared!!! I am my father's caretaker,,,,but my husband, eleven years my senior will retire in 12 days. He is already down to four, sometimes three days a week and I am noticing the very things you are talking about. Yes I need help with my father and heavy things around the house but when did the kitchen become my husband's domain? A galley kitchen at that!!!

Avatar n tn Unfortunately, most of these dishes are NEVER found at restaurants but recipes can be found on the internet. If you happen to visit a restaurant that serves "real" Asian food, they're only the dishes that happen to appeal to Westerners as well. Asian food includes tofu and is delicious if cooked with Asian seasonings, beef and/or shellfish broth. Tofu and also fish cooked in western ways, in my humble opinion, is unbearable.
