Avatar m tn t a known cause of adhd. My son has sensory integration disorder which is like adhd (they are both neurological and can look similar, some kids have both) and I have things I wonder . . . did *I* cause this? They don't know exactly what causes it and we're all doing the best we can. Impulsive behavior is an issue with many ADHD kids. Also with sensory kids like my son. However, my son responds to firm rules.
Avatar m tn There have also been studies done on Omega 3s and ADHD. My son has ADHD and we tried just about every med there was and it never made a significant difference. We decided it wasn't worth the side effects since it wasn't making a difference, particularly in school. I was told by one ADHD doctor that protein makes a big difference. I know try to make sure he eats protein at each meal, especially at breakfast. He also takes a fish oil capsule every morning.

1166311 tn?1263063835 Is she on Ritalin when she comes to see you? If she is taking the pills on the weekend when she visits, does she take the pills or do you give them to her?
1329481 tn?1275141813 ADHD is a life long condition. It doesn't just come & go. I have ADHD & I do not take medications. At some point, you have to learn to live with it & techniques in place to cope with it. It'll be with you til the day you die, & you can't rely on pills. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Yes, ADHD is Hereditary. However, it is not unusual for only one child in a family to have it. Or to even skip a generation or for neither parents to have it, but an Uncle, etc. Point, being - your child might or might not have it. However, if your child has it - it does not condemn him/her to going through what you went through. Chances are your parents had no clue what ADHD was and that effected how you were treated.

Avatar n tn This is called holiday breaks?Since the pills started he is becoming hyperactive at Dad`s when he `s not on pills whereas before he was much more calm. I am wondering if he has a mild form of epilespy.( Absent seziures). Phyciarst stated 3 yrs ago behaviour problems more likley due to seperation than false allegations by the Mother.
Avatar f tn Ok, I guess the big question is, "he has been diagnosed with ADHD" and? What are they doing about the ADHD thing. There is a lot that can be done - including seeing a professional (they should go as well to learn how to deal with it). ADHD is not something that you can let go untreated. It will only get worse as they are finding out. Having said that - he does have some symptoms of Sensory Processing Disorder.

1455599 tn?1285507900 My son is 6 years old and was diagnosed last year with adhd and now my poor little guy has been on a roller coaster ride. He has severe mood swings, and tantrums. Now he is having night walking and night terrors. Normally it is just nightmares but last night he flipped out and was seeing invisible robots that were attacking him and monsters on the doorway he was crying and really scared i had to hold his eyes with my hands and held him the rest of the night...
Avatar n tn d rather suffer with adhd , once your son gets older let him choose if he wants to stay on pills but really enforce the idea of no adderal , desoxy , dexidrine or any ritalin/methyl w/e and obviously all their generic names like amphetamine. I grew up without adderall and did well in school until high school ( for other reasons like illegal drugs) and I had anxiety , add adhd combo and a few other problems never mind my house hold being a mess .
Avatar f tn Your an addict you can get clean but as in better so I can use drugs again that would be never. What pain meds are you on and what are you taking adhd meds are you on do you abuse them ?
342425 tn?1241379464 The ADHD brain uses so many different little pieces of the brain to do tasks that non ADHD brains use one large piece to do. So, to a non expert it may appear that the brain funtion is abnormal but it is perfectly normal for an ADHD brain. Sugar plays NO role in hyperactivity unless a child, or adult, has a sensitivity to it. Ther eis absolutely no research evidence to support that theory.
600139 tn?1219678772 s gone after 6 months of using howaido whitening pills. Do you think this was the reason why it faded out or does it really fade out on its own? It says that it contains glutathione. This discussion is related to Skin Whitening Pills.

I know that there is usually a feeling out process when it comes to ADHD and the various treatments. However, I have hypertension and in my research, I've noticed that this is not recommended for people with hypertension.

Avatar m tn Hello all, Thank you for taking the time to read this, it is my first post on MedHelp. I'm a 22 year old male, I graduated with a Bachelors of Science last May. These next two years I am pursuing my masters degree, and then I will be finally done with college!!! WOOHOO! I have suffered from depression since I was about 12 years old. From the ages 19-21 I think I was on and off every anti-depressant/anxiety pill offered. NONE of them worked for me.
