Avatar n tn Having said this, it does happen that ADHD is diagnosed in pre-school children, and medication is sometimes prescribed in these circumstances. Avatar f tn My son age 7 was diagnosed with ADHD by a Dr. we are lucky enough to leave near a facility that works specifically with ADHD, autism and similar diagnoses. He is on medication and we have seen improvements. The first night he was on medicine we went out for pizza I had to go to the bathroom because I couldn't keep from crying, he sat still, ate his dinner, and talked with us. Instead of running around, going to the bathroom, taking one bit every 10 minutes.
Avatar n tn I'm concerned with my 7 year old son. He has been diagnosed with ADHD and had been on aderoll for about 6 mths now. As of friday the dr. took him off due to some ticks he had picked up. He has since been put on concerta. My concern is it seemed the aderoll was helping with controlling his behavior and he enjoyed taking it knowing he was doing better.
Avatar n tn I have a 24 yr old son diagnosed w/ADHD at age 6. He was tested 2yrs ago for Aspergers. We were told while he had many characteristics, he is too engaging to be dx'd w/Aspergers. Avatar f tn What really needs to be adjusted is Dad. He needs to understand what ADHD is and how to work with ADHD kids. Hollering at her is like hollering at the moon, it ain't gonna make a bit of difference. And -- it's gonna get worse not better. He needs to get an understanding of what is going on and how to deal with it.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 13 years old and she has been diagnized with ADD & ADHD. She is on 'Adderall' and 'Ciprelex'. I dont know if it is the medication or it is just the ADD that she gives me a lot of trouble. I do not know how to deal with it and would appreciate some feed back. There are days that it gets really bad and does not listen to a thing she is told, she screams and cries so all the neighbours could hear.
383943 tn?1217726321 Did she get evaluated by a psycholigist or developmental doctor that specializes in ADHD? If she has ADHD, the first medication that you should try is Metadate CD or Ritalin. Start with a very small dosage such as 2.5mg or 5mg. If it does not work because it is not enough, keep on increasing the amount very slowly until you see that she is doing well. I am not familiar with celexa. If it is a stimulant like Ritalin, the dosage sounds too high.
565294 tn?1216436915 Hi, my son is 10 and he was on every single kind of medication out there for ADHD and responded to none so I took him off and he is getting an assessment done (As I have Bipolar disorder). He was worse on the pills than off....mood wise. But he lost a ton of weight....he was always being called chubby before he started concerta and adderall....now everyone is worried he is too thin.....so yes it does suppress the appetite.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ADD at the beginning of my undergraduate career about 5 yrs ago. I wanted to treat the symptoms with therapy techniques rather then taking medication for it. I felt I had a fairly good handle on treating the problem through undergrad, but now im in a challenging graduate program & my techniques haven't proven to be as effective. What is the best medical route for me to take to as the next step?
985431 tn?1248845673 My daughter has been on Concerta for three years. The medication has worked well. However, I am wondering if at some point I should try taking her off it as she gets older to see if she is able to use self control in dealing with her ADHD. This was not an option before and still may not be but should I be trying? Also, on the other end if it's not broke why fix it? My only concern is I am unsure how long she will be on it...for life?
