Avatar f tn Its possible that your child may have Asperger's because it's biological uncle has it, but at the same time Asperger's could be a random gene mutation. Asperger's is interesting like that and could be misdiagnosed as ADHD.
Avatar f tn I just seen on NBC news that doctors have discovered a link between children with ADHD and mothers who took Acetaminophen (Tylenol) while pregnant.

Avatar n tn I am a 21 year old female college student and I was just diagnosed with ADHD. My doctor prescribed me 10 mg of Adderall XR (the capsule form) and I have been taking it in the morning before breakfast. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to take for it to work, but I honestly haven't felt any different. My mind is still fuzzy and wanders constantly, I can't sit still. Does anyone know if its normal for it to not work for the first few days?
209987 tn?1451935465 LOL!! I am laughing way too hard over that last one paying! Went back to see that annoying doctor yesterday and he says that I ought to get MORE exercise because I have osteoarthritis...how much more active can I possibly get??? First he wants me to sit still because of the knee...and now he wants me to exercise and move as much as possible because of the arthritis! I think HE'S got ADD!!!! lol!! So we've cancelled the knee surgery for now.
Avatar n tn From your description I don't think he is an ODD-sociopathic kid. Cunning? Definitely! Typically really bright kids can get into trouble before they get the maturation to control themselves. However, because they are really bright, they also tend to figure this out faster then the normal child. Of course, they also can figure out how to manipulate the situation just as fast. Couple of things do bother me though.

Avatar n tn * Type 1 we call Classic ADHD. A type 1 has all the hallmark features of ADHD we discussed earlier, plus they're hyperactive and impulsive. They respond nicely to stimulant medication. * Type 2 we call Inattentive ADHD. They have all the hallmark features of ADHD but are never hyperactive. They also respond to stimulants. * Type 3 we call Overfocused ADHD.
Avatar f tn but as they get older then deff boys. I just hate changing a boys diaper too. Especially when they pooped because you have to really get all up on their private part and wipe and everything. Always felt weird to me.
Avatar f tn Nothing seems to bother him even when he gets in trouble he just apologies and shrugs it off. My husband is just like that to so he probably gets it from him.
Avatar m tn ) was seeing was a pretty typical kid with ADHD. Depression and anxiety are very common for kids with ADHD. Especially if they have not had any information on how ADHD affects them. You said you were emotionally abused until 6th grade - was that about the time you started taking Adderall? It is very normal to not talk as much when on Adderall because you now have more impulse control.
Avatar f tn I've been battling depression all my life, anxiety for the past 4 yrs and recently diagnosed with adult ADHD. I've been on Wellbutrin 300mg for a yr for the depression, Cymbalta 60mg for the last 7 months for the anxiety and Adderall 40mg for the ADHD all have been increased doseages up to now. Do these 3 meds all work together? I feel irritable, moody, agitated easily, short fused, and very frustrarted.
1497240 tn?1288928750 He is the sweetest, kindest, caring little boy and I hate to see him struggle. He just got diagnosed with ADHD and just started DEXEDRINE, yesterday. He seems to be responding so well already, had his first awesome day at school today, and I was so happy and proud, but doesn't seem to be his normal self. It is just hard to get used to. He seems a little spacey and is Very Tired. Do these symptoms go away after a period of time?

979428 tn?1253399601 How cool to go from "Broken" to where you are now! Congratulations for not giving up!!! Its so unfortunate that this couldn't have happened for you years earlier. Life can get a lot easier if you understand what you are facing. You asked if the "results usually so dramatic??" Others can answer that for you. I can say that if you did not have ADHD, the results would have been very different (as in how can we scrape her off the living room ceiling?
Avatar f tn Shes never been diagnosed with it but sehe definitely seems like she has ADHD. But since they all have adhd, will my daughter more than likely have adhd?
Avatar n tn The school should not be complaining just because your son is 7 and is just being a typical boy when it comes to his behavior. If he had bad grades and was defiant then maybe they could complain but what is wrong with these teachers today. There are really good teachers out there and then there are some that just ruin the reputation of the rest of them.
5066424 tn?1363135569 Yes, frustration is a part of ADHD. The kids just can't understand why they can't do what other people are doing (primarily in school). The most important thing that you can do is to learn all you can about ADHD! There are some very good sites with excellent practical things you can do. This site has lots of helpful ideas - http://www.additudemag.com/adhd/article/911.html And another good overall site is http://www.help4adhd.
Avatar n tn At age three my son was diagnosed with severe ADHD. After a year of changing medications the Pediatrician referred us to a Child Psychiatrist. The initial thought was 50 mg of vavanse was too high for him but to continue the .1 mg of Clonidine. After 3 weeks of 30 mg of vavanse it seemed like my son was taking no medication. He was hyper active, unable to focus, aggressive, having melt downs, moody, extremely impulsive and not sleeping.
Avatar f tn My child is 8 years old and when he went into first grade he was diagnosed with ADHD the first year he went on Concerta i thought that he was doing well the highest dose we had him on was 36mg now about two month ago the doctor thought we should switch him to Vyvance to give him a longer affect we went from 30mg to 50 mg and then back to 30mg i have told the doctor my concernce about this medicine he has mood swings he does not seem to enjoy the thing that he usallaly does like going outside to
Avatar f tn Hi guys I am at doctors and we are talking about ADHD and testing. Has anyone been tested for it? Take meds? What's it all about and how do you know if you have it?
Avatar f tn I have depression anxiety bipolar and now they have diagnosed me with adhd, everything really finally makes sense for the years and years my life has been a revolving door. I just feel alone and lost, people that don't have these issues have no idea the daily demons you have to face, is there anybody else out there?
Avatar f tn I did not tell her teacher about the diag yet. I am just so confused as to how she could be diagnosed ADHD, yet she excels in academics? Also, the counselor came and observed her last year, and told me that she definitly was not ADHD, however, she never tested her either? Does this seem possible?
