Avatar f tn Shes never been diagnosed with it but sehe definitely seems like she has ADHD. But since they all have adhd, will my daughter more than likely have adhd?
Avatar f tn Start with her pediatrician-they may need to first get history and physical, then test number one (fear of moms and docs) a pregnancy test, then thyroid, cbc, electrolytes, LH, FSH, estradiol, consider other factors like maybe polycystic ovarian syndrome, maybe they need to stimulate her with 10 days of progesterone and see if she finally has a cycle, this is progesterone and sometimes when girls have crazy cycles in their first years it provides just enough of the hormone that is needed to add t

Avatar f tn You will get far more relevant advice and support if you post on the ADHD Forum. Just go back to the main index of forums and repost your question there. If you have any trouble finding it, please come back here and one of us will make sure you get there, OK?
Avatar f tn I think that 24 hour seizure you had caused some mild brain damage, and that certain medications will help you, ADHD or not. I am NOT suggesting that there is anything 'wrong' with you... just trying to give you the little bit of insight I have. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn My daughter has just been diagnosed with ADHD. She is 14 and I am trying to get any information I can. She is on a low dose of medicine which has helped with her school work (2.8 GPA to 4.0 GPA). Is there anything I should be aware of or anything she needs to know?
Avatar n tn The school should not be complaining just because your son is 7 and is just being a typical boy when it comes to his behavior. If he had bad grades and was defiant then maybe they could complain but what is wrong with these teachers today. There are really good teachers out there and then there are some that just ruin the reputation of the rest of them.
5066424 tn?1363139169 Yes, frustration is a part of ADHD. The kids just can't understand why they can't do what other people are doing (primarily in school). The most important thing that you can do is to learn all you can about ADHD! There are some very good sites with excellent practical things you can do. This site has lots of helpful ideas - http://www.additudemag.com/adhd/article/911.html And another good overall site is http://www.help4adhd.
Avatar f tn These types of activies help soothe an over active nervous system whether it is due to adhd, sensory or he is just like that. Also, talk about other things he can do rather than throwing the cup. Just keep communication going with him and try to be a good role model.
Avatar f tn I did not tell her teacher about the diag yet. I am just so confused as to how she could be diagnosed ADHD, yet she excels in academics? Also, the counselor came and observed her last year, and told me that she definitly was not ADHD, however, she never tested her either? Does this seem possible?
1377599 tn?1278924570 three times it happened at school and i had to be brought to the clinic in a wheel chair...but dad never came....even when he heard, he just said i was probaly acting. the nurses could see me on the bed sweating and clenching my chest, ready for my heart to pop. Once i was sitting down when a kid came in. he got me some water, but drugged it with his medicine so he didnt need to take it. i was throwing up for half an hour.
Avatar f tn I have adhd and bipolar disorder, I have 3 children, one of children has developed adhd and one has developed bipolar disorder. What information I have found and what advice I managed to get from my doctors is limited . Sandman2 has given you some great advice if I could just add that there are many people who have adhd and bipolar genes in there DNA but it doesn't progress into either illness.
Avatar n tn My 3 and a half year old son exihibits signs of having ADHD but his pediatrician thinks that he is just being a typical 3 year old. Please help. Each day grows increasingly frustrating for me and his babysitter. The other day he was running around the house and I asked him why he won't sit down and he replied that he couldn't help himself. Am I overracting? Is this behavior normal for 3 year old boys?
Avatar f tn Its not easy with ADD. Best medical route is a psychiatrist specializing in ADHD or ADD. But that might be a bit pricey (the best always is). I would start by seeing what your college medical services offer. You also might look into what counseling they have. It is also possible that you qualify for special consideration during tests, etc. due to your ADD. So there is a variety of ways to go. Also there are some very cool technologies out there that might liven up your studying.
985431 tn?1248845673 However, I am wondering if at some point I should try taking her off it as she gets older to see if she is able to use self control in dealing with her ADHD. This was not an option before and still may not be but should I be trying? Also, on the other end if it's not broke why fix it? My only concern is I am unsure how long she will be on it...for life?
Avatar n tn My health insurance does not cover testing for ADHD and his teacher and pediatrician want him tested. Is there an organization which helps pay for these tests? I was told by my sister that under the "No when left behind law" the school department should pay. Is this true?
Avatar n tn that's a real important step - and if she can't it means you haven't been doing what I said above. by the way, just repeating the abc's isn't important. gotta be able to recognize the letter. As for sitting or standing. Can be typical 5 year old behavior. Has she done any preschool yet?
Avatar f tn Iv been back and fourth to the doctors and hes about to be expelled unless this get sorted everyone knows he has it it just needs being sorted.

Avatar n tn my fiancee and I are concerned that his (my soon to be step) 6 year old son has ADHD- the issues are when ever thier is a non structured event- (play date, free time ect- his hyper activity goes above and beyond and it is almost impossable to calm him down. for example, after a full day in first grade, an almost 2 hour play date(s) (runing, climbing trees, playing in the mudd ect. we come home and he is still running around the house screaming, singing bouncing off the walls).
