1367899 tn?1278125040 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar f tn // Since you mentioned, "if the discipline fits the crime." which is a really, really important concept. Here is a really good link on that.
Avatar n tn I saw a blog that talks about children and ADHD, they also give some tips on how parents will cope with the illness of their children.

Avatar m tn Hi there, I came across an earlier blog. My son has ADHD and we homeschool. Truthfully, I think it is a better environment for him. Has anyone had a child with ADHD develop OCD? He has started this as of late. Also, when he enjoys a certain topic, he will discuss it and study it to an excess.
Avatar f tn com/blog/a-doctors-personal-take-on-adhd/adhd-and-motor-tics-in-children/ and I do think that in this situation I would want to be dealing with a pediatric psychiatrist due to what is going on. And I would also realize that (as I said) he may take a bit of experimentation to find out what works best.

Avatar f tn My 15 yr old son was recently diagnosed with ADHD using 3 surveys. I really wanted him to be tested using WISC since he is also gifted (140 OLsaT 3 years ago). It seems like our current psychiatrist allows us to decide our own course with medication to see what would work best. He is currently on 25 mg Vyvance and the last month he has said it made a world of difference with his attention in school.
Avatar n tn I'm sure she was referring to this Dr. Hallowell's Blog On Marijuana and ADHD 35I want to make clear my view on the use of marijuana by people who have ADHD. I am writing this post because of a recent piece in the New York Times that misled some readers. I am totally and completely opposed to the use of marijuana by people who have ADHD.

Avatar f tn Loss of appetite and weight loss is a common side effect of stimulants, and one of the reasons why medications alone cannot treat ADHD. ADHD is sometimes caused by a deficiency in certain nutrients and can only get worse if the child is not eating. Talk to your son’s doctor and see if the dosage of the medication can be reduced. Your son can start replenishing the lost nutrients with the right ADHD diet.
Avatar m tn Many times depression has been caused by ADHD. It is possible that the proper treatment of ADHD with medication (and therapy to help you understand how ADHD has affected your life) will allow the antidepressants to be slowly tapered off. Plus, the stim meds can be taken on an as needed basis and some have only about a 3 to 4 hour effect so can be taken just in the afternoon or morning (as needed). Anyway, hope this helps. Please post if you have any more questions.

Avatar f tn Hi--I am new to this blog. My 8yr old son has ADHD and mild delayed development. I tried not to medicate. As a nurse I do realize that stimulants can be addictive etc..Well, he was just unable to cope in Kindergarten--the teacher told me that he just wasn't retaining anything and I agreed. Despite counseling and behavior mod therapy etc..he wasn't learning. His self esteem was taking a hit and we started to see alot of anxiety. SO we did adderal. It worked and has for the past year or so.
865817 tn?1255285681 Glad to hear it is working out for you and her. Because she is still in Kindergarten, homework should not be an issue yet. When it is, then it is time to talk to a doctor. In the meantime here is some homework for you. Just saw this post, these books might be worth checking out. I haven't read them yet, but I am certainly going to look into them. Dulcet1pms, Oct 07, 2009 03:33AM Hi- I also have a son with ADhD and is Bi-polar as well.
494594 tn?1212971528 We often get requests for "ADHD testing." I understand that there is a lot of media attention (excuse the pun) on ADD, ADHD, impulsivity, inattention. However, symptoms of inattention or restlessness are common in many learning and emotional problems such as learning disabilities, anxiety, moodiness, and motivational issues.
242532 tn?1269553979 I’m going to continue talking about the stages one has to go through to be cured of the destructive emotional eating habit, and I will continue to use the comments to the last blog to illustrate what I have to say. First, I want to remind you that the cure for emotional eating is a psychological cure, and the medicine we use to cure the mind is insight.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the responses - the basis of my concern is that I've looked at several medication blog sites and have seen numerous posts of women reporting hair loss from anti-depressants including Wellbutrin so I was really questioning the validity of the "less than 1%" finding from the Wellbutrin trials.

Avatar f tn I have been treated for ADHD with Vyvanse for almost two years now and have recently been diagnosed with a mood disorder. My doctor gave me a script for a mood stabilizer, but I want to do something more than just take pills. I need to actively do something more to help get my life on track. I can't just leave pills to be my sanity anchor. Any suggestions? Ps. I am really interested in meditation/chakra/yoga/reiki/etc.
Avatar m tn com/blog/2012/01/17/new-review-of-neurofeedback-treatment-for-adhd-current-state-of-the-science/ I do think a lot of the ADHD Nanny program and it is free (I believe) If you can afford it, there is nothing wrong in trying many of the programs out there. I would suggest however, that you do become a bit of an expert in ADHD so that you can be your childs proponent. I also suggest that you buy the book "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley.
665851 tn?1225829609 No drug is a perfect fit for everyone. Many people with ADHD derive life-changing benefit from taking Vyvanse, and other stimulant medications. You're certainly welcome to have your opinion - that nobody should take these drugs - but please keep in mind, the uphill battle that we with ADHD have to fight, to have ADHD recognized as "real" and to be allowed to take medication for it without harassment.
Avatar m tn and columbine kids for their ADHD. Their are other ways to cure ADHD. I personally will start with diet, and exercise, and not administer synthetic speed to my son.
Avatar f tn e take are gone, which means they were probably never there, I'm very disorganized in that, wehen I set out to do something, I'm easily distracted and get side tracked and then within minutes have forgotten what I'd ever intended to do in the first place. Now, the last thing, I'll blame on my ADHD because, well, that's what got me diagnosed in the first place :) I'm not AFRAID of being schizophrenic or biupolar, I'm just worried 'I wont get medicated in time. in regards to my bipolar fear.
