Avatar n tn Posted By mom who doesn't know the best course of action on July 21, 1999 at 09:14:38 What is the medication most often prescribed for ADHD and anxiety in a ten year old 75lb. girl? I've tried ritalin which has just made her depressed. We then switched to Dexadrine which seemed to work well twice a day but when we switched to a time released capsule, there seemed to be an inconsistent release of the medicine into her system. We upped the dosage to 35mg.
Avatar n tn What sorts of behaviors require the discipline? If he is hyperactive, you should not discipline him for the hyperactive behavior per se. I assume he's 'breaking some rules'. What exactly is he doing that is wrong? In general, disciplinary tactics for a child who displays ADHD are no different from disciplining children who do not display ADHD. If you want a reliable guide for discipline, you can trust Lynn Clark's SOS Help for Parents (see www.sosprograms.com).
Avatar n tn My son was recently diagnosed ADHD at the age of 4 1/2. I'm not familiar with early childhood and ADHD and could use some suggestions or reading material how to help him and us as we adapt to this. Any suggestions? The doctor told us he puts the "h" in adhd so the hyperness is really there as well as the spontanious and he's an only child to boost.

Avatar n tn My son just turned 21, he lives at home, does pizza delivery. He was diagnosed with server ADHD in Highschool but he didn't like the mediacation cause it made him aggressive. He has recently done neuroscience brain training which has cured him of ADHD. Now he wants to get his stuff together but has no idea what in life he wants to do. Is there a counselor of some sort (outside of a Psh) that can help him narrow down some choices, and guide him in making a decision?

Avatar n tn Is a stimulant such as Dexedrine the best course of action for ADHD and anxiety or is there something better? Posted by CCF Neuro[P] MD, RPS on July 21, 1999 at 17:17:05 Dear Mom who doesn't know the best course of action: Did a behavioral pediatrician or pediatric neurologist evaluate your daughter at the time of diagnosis of ADHD? Other than her ADHD she is a healthy normal child without any other neurological problems?

Avatar f tn Hi, I am curious because you posted in the ADHD community and not the child behavior forum. Does your son have ADHD? Mark's answer is correct, but if you son does have ADHD it would also explain the impulsiveness of his comments, and the trouble that he has controlling what he is saying.
