Hey, I was prescribed generic 10mg Adderall 1x per day by my psych, but when I tried it I felt slightly dizzy with ear stuffiness (the type when you fly on airplanes) accompanied by sharp, inner ear pain (in both ears). This lasted about 1.5 months.
Is there anyway to reduce this while taking adderall, and what could it be caused by?
There definately is a difference between Ritalin and Adderall. Adderall is stronger. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall.
my son is 7 years old and has adhd,after years of doing all the things we were told to do-behavior tech-counslers,theripy etc.my son have now been put on adderall 10 xr ,that had no effect so the doc said up it a little bit so now he is taking 20mgs a day xr-still no difference in his behavior.do we up the meds again.
Try Adderall XR...it's an extended-release capsule. Regular Adderall is an immediate-release tablet, which wears off after maybe 5 hours, i'd say. But Adderall XR should do the trick...
Hello. I'm Seventeen years old and have ADD. Last year I stopped taking my 30mg XR adderall because of weight-loss problems. Now i am a generally healthy boy and the only condition I have is asthma, which I out-grew years ago. Last night around eight o'clock I took one of my old 30mg XR capsules to see if it would help me with a big homework assignment.
My doctor prescribed me 10 mg of Adderall XR (the capsule form) and I have been taking it in the morning before breakfast. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to take for it to work, but I honestly haven't felt any different. My mind is still fuzzy and wanders constantly, I can't sit still. Does anyone know if its normal for it to not work for the first few days? Also, does anyone know if drinking caffeine is bad while on Adderall?
was on adderall for 4 months 10 mg a day and now have switched to ritalin (its a long story) and 5mg not enough so i went up to another 5 a day. Seems to help but i feel abit impatient, given to impatience and easily annoyed lately is anyone experiencing these as sdie effects? I also take celexa and wellbutrin for depression and adderal was introduced because i was becoming depressed again feeling unmotivated and frankly lethargic....i worry i am doing a "bad" thing to my head....

I have ADD, though some have said ADHD. It's been since I was a child that I tried medicines. I was on Ritalin, Dexadrine, Adderall, and I'm not sure what else. Now years later my new doctor is suggesting Concerta as the best to try.
What have you tried? How have they all worked for you? Which do you prefer and why?
I did not think it worked well for me anymore and now i am on adderall xr. I feel like i am on a emotional roller coaster everyday!!! i dont like it plus i have major headaches. One of my friends were on vyvanse and she said her heart felt like it would pop out of her chest. I dont know if they use it for adult adhd but there is a non stimulant adhd med its strattera i think maybe you could talk to the doc about non stimulants???
m unable to take Provigil which is a new-ish med for Narcolepsy. My doctors then prescribed Adderall XR, slowly and carefully titrating to a safe level (pretty low dose actually) along with a single 5mg tablet to take as needed (for those after work activities on occasion like parent teacher conferences, those type of activities. Fortunately, I did not SUFFER any effects like the Ritalin, I just have the body makeup that I cannot take it.
your son has apparently experienced positive results with Concerta which is a form of methylphenidate, while Adderall is a form of dextroamphetamine (Ritalin and Dexedrine). Frequently the forms of methylphenidate work better for ADHD Hyperactive while the dextroamphetamines work better for the Inattentive.
Which is your son? To compound matters further if he is an "active" young man, is his activity "motor" or "distractablitIy" driven?
Im an adult ADD who has successfully treated with Dexadrine XR spanules for 5 years or so, until this past summer when my employer changed insurance plans to some new insurance plan that does not at all cover Dexadrine Spanules. So unless I want to pay $350+ per prescription for a month, its a non-option.
So, my Dr. prescribed me adderal 10mg XR instead, since its covered at an intermediate level by my insurance plan, only a $30 a month co-pay. (Old plan used to be $10 a month).
No easy answer here. First I assume you mean Adderall XR? Let me know if you don't because the next sentence is about XR. Most Charts list 50mgs as the maximum dose. And weight really has less to do with the dosage then one would think.
