Avatar n tn # STUNTED GROWTH AND WEIGHT LOSS Particularly in children, Adderall can decrease growth and cause significant weight loss. Children who take Adderall for long periods should be carefully monitored for these Adderall side effects by having their height and weight measured regularly. Other Adderall Side Effects Other Adderall side effects can include significant loss of appetite, mood changes, insomnia, dry mouth, and headaches. What is happening now?
Avatar f tn My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack. Phenteramine does make you anxious,,, more so than the adderall or Concerta.
Avatar f tn I am guessing that you see two different doctors. One for weight loss and one for your ADHD/anxiety. I say this because Basically phentermine is a stimulant (works like adderall), but works differently then adderall. I am not sure you should be taking it with adderall. "Phentermine use is containdicated in those who are: Taking amphetamine (i.e. Adderall, Dexedrine, Vyvanse), in the last 14 days" This quote is from - http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn Adderall is the most commonly prescribed ADHD medicine for adults. I think most insurance companies cover it until a person is 25. Some will cover it for longer. I had to start paying out of pocket on my 26th birthday. Some versions of extend release Ritalin are also FDA approved for adults and there are also non stimulant alternatives.
Avatar m tn This question is best directed to your physician that prescribed the medication. The most common adverse events reported in adults include headache, dry mouth, dizziness, insomnia, and weight loss.
Avatar f tn Its pretty easy to zip through and look for those ( just look for a post with any med in the posts name. People will have posted in on their own experience and with other meds). I think the one thing I get from reading those is that everybody is different. My own feeling from posting here the last 4 years is that the dose may be a bit high. But if you just started taking it, it does take a few days for your body to adjust.
Avatar n tn I have just recently been prescribed Topamax 25mg to aid in weight loss. I take 25mg at bedtime for 7 days then 50mg. How long does it take before i should start seeing a difference in my weight. I have noticed that I do not have headaches since taking this medicine.
Avatar f tn I remember being a puffy mute on lexapro and zyprexa. Not only was my usual 130 pound jewish frame elevated to 170 within months I felt suicidal for the first time in my life. I found a combo of wellbutrin/zoloft that seems to serve me well. After hearing my complaints of fatigue he added adderall. It does help but it's but you can develop tolerance fairly quickly and it's drawing on your body's essential vitality (chi) to do this.
Avatar f tn Heart-related problems — ADD / ADHD stimulant medications have been found to cause sudden death in children and adults with heart conditions. The American Heart Association recommends that all individuals, including children, have a cardiac evaluation prior to starting a stimulant. An electrocardiogram is recommended if the person has a history of heart problems.
Avatar n tn My 11 year old son is currently taking Dexadrine. He has slowly increased to 20 mg in the morning. His teacher and myself (my son too) have noticed a postitive change in his work output at school and during homework sessions. Two of the side effects are of great concern to me. My son can't sleep until well after 10:30 pm. (we are trying Melatonin, but haven't found the right dosage). The other side effect that is most troubling is the loss of appetite.
Avatar n tn I know that a side effect of Adderall is increased anxiety, and in turn high blood pressure, which in some people can lead to nosebleeds. I also wonder whether rapid weight loss (BMI 21.1 to 19.4 in 2 months) and increased blood pressure (from 119/80 to 146/96 in 2 months) together might make nosebleeds more likely.
Avatar n tn I've been taking regular adderall (non xr) for 10t years for ADHD. The medicine does help with the ADHD but I'm concerned with the long term effects. I know Adderall can cause weight loss /decrease appetite as a side effect. With the exception of the past couple of years I was able to keep my wieight down partly due to the drug. However the past 2 years or so I seem to be gaining wieight.
Avatar f tn My best friend was diagnosed by her primary care physician as being ADD a few months ago. She is 46 yrs old. He put her on a low dosage of Straterra at first but after 2 weeks the side effects required a change in medication. He put her on a low dosage of Adderall (18mgs per day). She also takes 450 mgs of Wellbutrin a day for depression and 100 mgs of Topamax for migraines. Add to that the fact that she drinks a few glasses of wine every night and you have quite a cocktail.
Avatar n tn t really mind (dry mouth, loss of appetite, more outgoing/energy, weight loss) but I do have one strange one that I'm not too sure about. I take my adderall after I eat a full breakfast, which is normally my only meal of the day (adderall dismisses my appetite). After about an hour of taking my medication, I have to go to the bathroom. I don't have an upset stomach, nausea, or anything like that, I just feel that pressure you get when you know you have to make a bowel movement.
Avatar f tn ty for all the feedback. Yes. I do know that hes addicted. he doesnt think so. he thinks because he is still working and maintaining his business that its not a problem. he has never been prescribed them he does not have add or anything like that. He just likes the rush. i dont know how to get him to understand he needs to stop. There are also alot of people in his family that take it and that how hes gets them.
Avatar m tn Common Adderall side effect indeed include constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, restlessness, stomach pain or upset, trouble sleeping, weight loss, weakness and the unpleasant taste you mentioned. You could discuss this with your attending physician for possible dose adjustment or shift to other medication. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn Adieux is Phentermine. Phentermine is related chemically and pharmacologically to amphetamine and other related stimulant drugs that have been extensively abused. Phentermine is a Schedule IV controlled substance. What you're doing when you take is Adipex from a "weight loss clinic" is taking speed in order to lose weight.
Avatar f tn I recently started to take adderall for weight loss. I have notice something remarkable. I have not had a migraine in 2 weeks. I usually get 2-3 per week. I am trying trying to find a reason why, but have not found anything. Does anyone know why this would happen?
1744544 tn?1311299862 So, for over 2 years, I have consistently taken 60mg of Adderall. Once I was finally stable on my Adderall, he then took me off of my Xanax (did not WEEN me off, but TOOK me off) stating that 'Florida Law-He can not prescribe 2 Narcotics'.. I went for my regular, I voiced that after a year and a half of being off of Xanax, I'm now experiencing Anxiety more and more severe.. I understood that he couldnt prescribe another Narcotic, but I felt anything to subside my Anxiety would help.
5717054 tn?1372958545 Being bed ridden is the last thing you need. You need to be getting in good long walks, etc. I never have heard of an Adderall side effect of vertigo - but something is definitely making it worse. It might be due to your blood pressure problems. Thus, you might want to monitor your BP before taking the meds and then after? But, whatever you do, talk to your doc! Hope this helps a bit.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Concerta is quite well known to cause weight loss, common complaints of appetite being suppressed, not being hungry, feeling full etc occur in all ages and gender. Significant weight loss is probably one of the more common reasons for a change in medication, so i would definitely recommend discussing your weight loss concerns with your prescribing dr.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have this issue?? How did you cure it? I never lost weight with Adderall (thank god) because if I did I would've dipped into below average BMI since currently mine is 19. I am very insecure about how small I am and I've been gaining weight recently but due to this I'm losing again and I'm having a lot of self-esteem and self-worth issues due to it.
