My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack. Phenteramine does make you anxious,,, more so than the adderall or Concerta.
I am guessing that you see two different doctors. One for weight loss and one for your ADHD/anxiety. I say this because

I'm not sure what you're looking for. I have adhd any my medication has a calming effect, which is not what I expected from a stimulant. I don't know how to say it any more clearly, but if you don't have adhd, the medication won't make you feel calm and you won't feel many benefits. The medication providers many benefits, beyond improved attention, if you actually have adhd.
My dr prescribed Adderall 10mg 4 times a day. Just started today ( this morning) and not sure how I feel about it. On one hand I got through homework and class with amazing focus but now here it is at 9 and I'm sweating and grinding my teeth. Just want to hear how Adderall worked for everyone. Thanks!
Over the past 6 months I have gained 30 pounds. I have OCD and was put on Lexapro along with other meds which really put the weight on fast. My doctor swithced my meds to Zoloft, Serequel, Anfranil, Klonopin, and Proprnolol for my anxiety and OCD. My OCD is finally under control but now all I do is obsess about my weight. It is really impacting my social life. I currently take 25mg of topamax in the morning and 50mg at night.

I remember being a puffy mute on lexapro and zyprexa. Not only was my usual 130 pound jewish frame elevated to 170 within months I felt suicidal for the first time in my life. I found a combo of wellbutrin/zoloft that seems to serve me well. After hearing my complaints of fatigue he added adderall. It does help but it's but you can develop tolerance fairly quickly and it's drawing on your body's essential vitality (chi) to do this.
I know that a side effect of Adderall is increased anxiety, and in turn high blood pressure, which in some people can lead to nosebleeds. I also wonder whether rapid weight loss (BMI 21.1 to 19.4 in 2 months) and increased blood pressure (from 119/80 to 146/96 in 2 months) together might make nosebleeds more likely.
I've been taking regular adderall (non xr) for 10t years for ADHD. The medicine does help with the ADHD but I'm concerned with the long term effects. I know Adderall can cause weight loss /decrease appetite as a side effect. With the exception of the past couple of years I was able to keep my wieight down partly due to the drug. However the past 2 years or so I seem to be gaining wieight.

I take my adderall after I eat a full breakfast, which is normally my only meal of the day (adderall dismisses my appetite). After about an hour of taking my medication, I have to go to the bathroom. I don't have an upset stomach, nausea, or anything like that, I just feel that pressure you get when you know you have to make a bowel movement.
The problem is that if not treated correctly, the person will start to self medicate and that sounds like what is going on. His Adderall might not be enough for him , or is too much (weight loss is common but can be compensated for). It appears he is taking nothing for the bipolar, but self medication.
The problem with adults (many times) is that they dislike getting professional help. He needs professional help!

I do know that hes addicted. he doesnt think so. he thinks because he is still working and maintaining his business that its not a problem. he has never been prescribed them he does not have add or anything like that. He just likes the rush. i dont know how to get him to understand he needs to stop. There are also alot of people in his family that take it and that how hes gets them.

Concerta is the same drug as Ritalin, I believe, and could well be the cause of your wakefulness and loss of appetite. I take Adderall, a similar drug, to cope with fatigue, and it does dampen my hunger, for sure. It's a good consequence for me, if unintended. I take 20mg of the extended release type each morning, and can feel it wearing off by mid-afternoon. It doesn't affect my sleep.
It's possible your dosage is too high, so a consultation with your doctor is order.
Main one is sleep, I think I slept 3 hours last night and thats turning into the normal. Also weight loss is great but I want it to be safe and so far it's been 9lbs in a week. Advice on eating? Food just doesn't sound good and literally have to choke it down when I do eat. Right now I'm averaging about 400 calories a day and I know that's not healthy. Thanks everyone.
Adderall is the most commonly prescribed ADHD medicine for adults. I think most insurance companies cover it until a person is 25. Some will cover it for longer. I had to start paying out of pocket on my 26th birthday.
Some versions of extend release Ritalin are also FDA approved for adults and there are also non stimulant alternatives.
However reading more and more i have come across a side effect of hair loss. Is this true?? My family has a tendency to bald but so far i haven't started even though my dad did when he was 20. By taking this am i risking hair loss?! If so is it reversible if i stop taking the meds? Any other things i should look out for or any other words of wisdom?

youngest is 11 and was on adderall for two years and I put him a natural supplement of vitamins this year. so far so good. he's skinny and I didn't like the weight loss issues.

I was on Adderall for a very short period in 2003. I lost a great deal of weight. I tapered off of it only to find the massive weight loss was due to my malfunctioning gall bladder. It was then that my life changed drastically!! I suffered complications after the surgery to remove my gallbladder, spleen and appendix. I was on narcotic meds for almost 2 years. It didnt take long for me to become powerless to opiates.
Last year I stopped taking my 30mg XR adderall because of weight-loss problems. Now i am a generally healthy boy and the only condition I have is asthma, which I out-grew years ago. Last night around eight o'clock I took one of my old 30mg XR capsules to see if it would help me with a big homework assignment. Now it is 8 o'clock the next morning and I haven't slept, there is a tightness around my heart/chest, and I feel like my body really wants to move.
