There definately is a difference between Ritalin and Adderall. Adderall is stronger. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall.

i do have mild add i found out dr changed me from adderall to ritalin...im also on xanax was on prozac dr changed it to wellbutrin sr..i have been reading where these meds can cause a seizure...

was on adderall for 4 months 10 mg a day and now have switched to ritalin (its a long story) and 5mg not enough so i went up to another 5 a day. Seems to help but i feel abit impatient, given to impatience and easily annoyed lately is anyone experiencing these as sdie effects? The cost of the medication is outrageous. Our doctor has written us new prescription for him for Adderall during the day and Ritilan for homework time if it is needed. My questions is, is there any significant side effects or dangers between the Concerta and Adderall? My husband is very reluctant to switch is medication and we are just trying to get some help with the questions we have.

The amount of medication that is necessary to work varies for each person depending on body weight, age, and severity of ADHD. Doctors typically start out with a low dose and wait to see how it works. Thus communication with your doctor is very important (He should have told you this). 10mg is enough (I would think) that if you don't have ADHD you would be off to the races (which is another reason the doctors start with a low dose). Let him know how you are feeling.

I would get adderall and everytime I would run out of my DOC I would get hopped up on Adderall and I didn't have any WD's. So in my opinion YES Ritalin and Adderall or any stimulants do help BUT It is dangerous and I would never tell somebody to try it. I am only saying from experience that for me it stopped them but not saying for you or anybody else to do that. Everybody is different and what works for one may not work for another.

Last year I stopped taking my 30mg XR adderall because of weight-loss problems. Now i am a generally healthy boy and the only condition I have is asthma, which I out-grew years ago. Last night around eight o'clock I took one of my old 30mg XR capsules to see if it would help me with a big homework assignment. I was on adderall for a for about 6 or 7 years and just in my last semester of college started abusing it to stay up studying for final exams and major projects. I had the same syptoms as your daughter, along with rapid heart rate, weight loss, and loss of interest in things that I enjoyed prior to starting Adderall. It made my son a zombie, his personality was different, he didn't laugh anymore. It is a highly addictive drug and the only reason this ADHD medication explosion has happened is because schools are pushing parents to drug their children so that the teacher doesn't have to deal with them.

Not taking any drugs besides my ritalin. Had been on it for years and changed to Adderall for a period then went back to ritalin. Could it be doing this?

Significant weight loss is probably one of the more common reasons for a change in medication, so i would definitely recommend discussing your weight loss concerns with your prescribing dr. like GSDgirl, I looked it up, and it’s labeled for weight loss. Have you discussed the use of Provigil (modafinil) yet? This stuff is FDA labeled for fatigue (think fighter pilots :o)), and is supposed to be non-addictive.

m a naturally anxious person.. and going on something like Adderall or Ritalin is out of the question... unless maybe if I have to drive somewhere that day. Is there any way to correct the condition, like with antidepresants?

I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.

present - they will obviously offer medical treatment for you. I personally am prescribed Ritalin for my ADD, which is similar to Adderall...but I would never claim it as making you a zombie. Infact it helps me get my mind together, think more clearly etc. So I honestly dont know where you got the idea of Adderall making you a zombie. Good luck with finding a solution.
