1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar f tn There definately is a difference between Ritalin and Adderall. Adderall is stronger. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall.
Avatar f tn i do have mild add i found out dr changed me from adderall to ritalin...im also on xanax was on prozac dr changed it to wellbutrin sr..i have been reading where these meds can cause a seizure...
Avatar f tn was on adderall for 4 months 10 mg a day and now have switched to ritalin (its a long story) and 5mg not enough so i went up to another 5 a day. Seems to help but i feel abit impatient, given to impatience and easily annoyed lately is anyone experiencing these as sdie effects? I also take celexa and wellbutrin for depression and adderal was introduced because i was becoming depressed again feeling unmotivated and frankly lethargic....i worry i am doing a "bad" thing to my head....
Avatar f tn The cost of the medication is outrageous. Our doctor has written us new prescription for him for Adderall during the day and Ritilan for homework time if it is needed. My questions is, is there any significant side effects or dangers between the Concerta and Adderall? My husband is very reluctant to switch is medication and we are just trying to get some help with the questions we have.
401095 tn?1351391770 i have taken adderal, ritalin, concerta, for adhd and i tried phentermine which is also an ampetamine for weight loss not sure if you read my story on the heath pages but i started my addiction age 9 with ritalin i also have hep c which causes extreme fatigue (and right not i am unisured i think my thyriod levels are low) i have taken excetorin which has caffine in it, just to make it through the day, but i felt horrible, yes i was awake but not energetic thats the thing with the prescription ad
Avatar n tn The amount of medication that is necessary to work varies for each person depending on body weight, age, and severity of ADHD. Doctors typically start out with a low dose and wait to see how it works. Thus communication with your doctor is very important (He should have told you this). 10mg is enough (I would think) that if you don't have ADHD you would be off to the races (which is another reason the doctors start with a low dose). Let him know how you are feeling.
1469794 tn?1286630557 I would get adderall and everytime I would run out of my DOC I would get hopped up on Adderall and I didn't have any WD's. So in my opinion YES Ritalin and Adderall or any stimulants do help BUT It is dangerous and I would never tell somebody to try it. I am only saying from experience that for me it stopped them but not saying for you or anybody else to do that. Everybody is different and what works for one may not work for another.
Avatar m tn Last year I stopped taking my 30mg XR adderall because of weight-loss problems. Now i am a generally healthy boy and the only condition I have is asthma, which I out-grew years ago. Last night around eight o'clock I took one of my old 30mg XR capsules to see if it would help me with a big homework assignment. Now it is 8 o'clock the next morning and I haven't slept, there is a tightness around my heart/chest, and I feel like my body really wants to move.
Avatar f tn Could have sworn I lost all motivation for life on Adderall and became even more hyper on Ritalin. Did I mention I'm dyslexic? But no Sandman is right.
Avatar m tn I was on adderall for a for about 6 or 7 years and just in my last semester of college started abusing it to stay up studying for final exams and major projects. I then graduated and got married and wanted to get off of it for good which has been rediculously hard to do. I also started experiencing extreme neausea towards the end of my use and so it was for the best to drop it cold turkey. My stomach pains have gone away but I am still struggling with annoying withdrawl symptoms every day.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I have ADD, though some have said ADHD. It's been since I was a child that I tried medicines. I was on Ritalin, Dexadrine, Adderall, and I'm not sure what else. Now years later my new doctor is suggesting Concerta as the best to try. What have you tried? How have they all worked for you? Which do you prefer and why?
Avatar f tn I had the same syptoms as your daughter, along with rapid heart rate, weight loss, and loss of interest in things that I enjoyed prior to starting Adderall. It made my son a zombie, his personality was different, he didn't laugh anymore. It is a highly addictive drug and the only reason this ADHD medication explosion has happened is because schools are pushing parents to drug their children so that the teacher doesn't have to deal with them.
Avatar f tn Not taking any drugs besides my ritalin. Had been on it for years and changed to Adderall for a period then went back to ritalin. Could it be doing this?
Avatar f tn this dr wants me to go up 10 mg a week till i reach 60...i dont know about that..he switched my adderall to ritalin for my refractory depression and i toook 2nd pill thsi morning but im afraif im gonna be allegic to it,u all know my fears..i alos haved somazation syndrome and hyperchrodriac..which this dr told me are 2 differnet things..he said to still enjoy my 2 or 3 beers,,he has been a pshychtrist for over 50 years..i read some good reviews on people using ritalin for depression...
Avatar f tn Significant weight loss is probably one of the more common reasons for a change in medication, so i would definitely recommend discussing your weight loss concerns with your prescribing dr. "The most common adverse reaction in double-blind clinical trials (>5%) reported in children and adolescents was upper abdominal pain.
968560 tn?1307451498 like GSDgirl, I looked it up, and it’s labeled for weight loss. Have you discussed the use of Provigil (modafinil) yet? This stuff is FDA labeled for fatigue (think fighter pilots :o)), and is supposed to be non-addictive.
Avatar n tn I'm so concerned. My 24 year old daughter takes adderall and has been taking it for 4 years. She has increased her dose to 20mg. She's 5'5 and weighs only 104 pounds. I have tried everything to get her to gain weight. She does it but very little. She honestly thinks she looks good. I think she's addicted to it. She says she cannot focus at work unless she takes it. What can I do. Mom This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn how long does ritalin take to work im on 10 mg but could take another 10 in the afternoon i was on 30 mg adderall i heard ritalin is stronger..im scared i will be allegic to ritalin as im afraid i will allergic to all new meds..and it is deiffernt than adderall pharmist said she has rarely heard of anyone being alletgic to these kinds of drugs but i thought i was having hard time breathing yesterday..does anyone else drink a couple beers with their ritalin.....
Avatar m tn Could someone explain to me the difference in Ritalin (methylphenidate) vs. Methamphetamines? I thought they were the same pretty much.
Avatar f tn m a naturally anxious person.. and going on something like Adderall or Ritalin is out of the question... unless maybe if I have to drive somewhere that day. Is there any way to correct the condition, like with antidepresants?
429700 tn?1308007823 I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.
Avatar m tn I have hyperthyroidism and maybe slightly above high-blood pressure.
Avatar n tn I'm still confused about how long is too long to be on this medication and will the weight loss adventually stop or at least slow down? What is non-stimulant Strattera and how will it help my son?
Avatar n tn My daughter just started taking 10mg of adderall xr and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the generic ritalin was. Does it take awhile for it to have it's full effect? This is only her third day on the medication. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn Ok i have,a problem with my sister she is preggo n taking ritalin for her adhd the doctor told her it was safe but for me i dnt think it is i told her get a second opinion n she takes 4 a day? Need advice thanks!
Avatar n tn present - they will obviously offer medical treatment for you. I personally am prescribed Ritalin for my ADD, which is similar to Adderall...but I would never claim it as making you a zombie. Infact it helps me get my mind together, think more clearly etc. So I honestly dont know where you got the idea of Adderall making you a zombie. Good luck with finding a solution.
