Thank you for ur response. The problem is the state isn't helping and I can't get a neurologist until he is on Medicare which will be November 2014. The neurologist say they want to help but can't til he is on the Medicare. The neuropsychologist that we are seeing won't give him prescription approval until he can sit and take a 6 hour test. He can't take the test without the adderall because he can't sit still long enough.
By the way, I don't think adderall makes kids smarter. Some kids will always struggle academically due to IQ. That's life.
My mother-in-law had a hysterectomy in her early 30s. My husdand has been suffering from extremely low hormones all of his life to where he has adrenal fatigue at 45yrs. My son is 6ft.6in. tall, 225lbs and sweats almost constantly and has a hard time falling alseep at night, even after a hard day's work mowing lawns in the heat. He exibited at an early age, easy distractability, inability to focus & concentrate (so he has been on adderall for ADD since age of 7yrs.).
My daughter-in-law was diagnos with Bipolar when she got caught in highschool running over three girls with her vehical. She has now lied about a boy hitting her at her step fathers,camera secured place. My son hit the boy that week and got in trouble. She is always saying that people are doing or saying things about her. Like a man she knew flicked her six month old baby boy in the head for no reason.

This risk of Adderall death seemed particularly high for individuals with structural heart abnormalities.

I'm a 54 year old female, 5'1 and weight 105 pounds. I've been an avid runner all my life. I've been diagnosed with ADD approximately 6 years ago. I have been on Wellbutrin 300mg for a few years. Last year when I was on adderall I found that my bicycling or running would seem so so hard to do at my previous level. I would get shortness of breath and my heart would race extremely high.
His teacher and myself (my son too) have noticed a postitive change in his work output at school and during homework sessions. Two of the side effects are of great concern to me. My son can't sleep until well after 10:30 pm. (we are trying Melatonin, but haven't found the right dosage). The other side effect that is most troubling is the loss of appetite. When we went to see his specialist, 6 days ago, he'd lost 4.5 lbs (in 40 days).
The other downside is that he takes sleeping pills at night to knock him self out after a day of adderall. I found a bottle of purchased adderall and sleeping pills in his pocket, and I knew that there must be a problem. He denies that he is dependent and has a problem, but I know he does. He does not eat much anymore, and smokes more than a pack of ciggs a day. He drinks excessive amounts of soda and eats alot of candy.
5 times the amount prescribed. Although this is the worst the abuse has been ( and my law school finals are weeks away) I do have a serious problem and need help to fix it. NA is out of the question. I have quit before, but the longest I made it was three weeks. I don't want to stop taking the drug, I just want to be able to take the amount prescribed.
The reason i think i have addisons is because i had a problem with my acth and my symptoms.
super dark brown hyper pigmentation, Chronic fatigue syndrome, weakness, anxiety, i feel better at night, personality change, losing weight... i weigh 95lbs now, but the lowest was 79lbs and im 22 years old....and many more symptoms. The tanning part is why i think its addisons. i've never tanned in my life and im extremely dark and i haven't seen the sun in like two years.
Her school tried to force her to get him on adderall. She refused and instead put him in karate and got more involved in his sports. His behavior changed dramatically and he is making good grades in school.
Parents need to start placing the blame on teachers in the schools and their methods of teaching. Teachers love these drugs because it makes their job allot easier...
Sadly, doctors leave important facts out as they are writing the prescription and the long term affects these drugs cause.

Meds don't work on me either...they do the exact opposite of what they are meant to do.
It breaks my heart every time I see a parent jump at the chance to give adderall ( or any drug for that matter ) to their kids. I have seen my fair share of these happenings at the pediatrician's office.
Some kids really do need meds...but some would do just as well without them.
Except theres 2 of them his mom and dad ! And they lived in a different state but moved up here for me because im going to school. Anyways they will be like we're not trying to control your live but you guys should... bla bla. It pisses me off, hopefully we move out soo. Or im going to kill them with my bare hands! They drive me insane !!
Well, the zololf is for anxiety and depression, which helped him. A month later the "Drs. assistant" recommended adderall for his attention deficit in school. Although they never really tested him for ADD. I'm not sure how they determine these things any more. I feel like we are in a production line when we go to the Dr. In, ask a few questions, write a prespcription, out. He was only on the adderall a week when the Drs. office told me to stop giving it to him.
I started on adderall at that time. I played football in high school(running back). Adderall has been very beneficial, as I had poor grades, was hyper active, etc. a week into taking the meds, a friend introdced me to cigarettes. Within a weeks time I was hooked, smoking nearly a pack of cigarettes a day. My dad, who is a smoker, forbid me to smoke. For what ever reason I fought him with a vengence, and won. He allowed me to smoke, even in the house.
I also heard her talking to a friend on her cell phone (she did NOT know I was listening) about adderall in general. What forms do people use to abuse Adderall. Do they take to many? Do the crush them up and eat them? Do they crush them up and possibly snort them? Or are there other ways for my 16 year old daughter to abuse the medication that I am not aware of?
I was curious about the effects of taking adderall had on motor neuron and glutamate function. I am currently in medical school and have been taking adderall for some time now and notice that when I am taking in caffeine along with adderall I experience muscle twitching within my arms, legs, and fingers. Previously to my arrival at school, I was checked out by a neurologist who performed a NVC/EMG and said everything was fine.

And like I said, he is very mean and yells at me when I ask him simple questions.
adderall does suck. i've been on it for six years and for a couple off in between and did very poorly in school, and went from 70 lbs to almost 170 lbs. when i went back on adderall, i began doing well in school again and went down to 115 lbs up until last year, and since it's been less effective in helping me focus or follow through with anything and made me increasingly irritable and anxious but whenever i stopped taking it, i would just want to lay in bed or eat all day.
