I was never extensively tested for ADD, but my doctor and I had determined that this was the best course of treatment for several reasons. I wasn't responding positively depression meds, I was depressed often, my mind would move exhaustively from one thought to another, this made focusing and concentrating more difficult, my energy and motivations levels had become uncharacteristically low, and related issues.
I Voluntarily entered a crisis stabilization center for 30 days. While there, I was diagnosed with GAD, SAD, Major Depressive Disorder, and PTSD. Upon diagnosis I was prescribed Zoloft 75 mg, Trazodone 50 mg, and Vistiral 25 mg PRN. I started these 3 new medications June 2nd and go for my first follow up appointment since leaving the treatment center on Monday. The Vistiral is doing absolutely nothing for my anxiety... no prescriptions for Benzos in the treatment center I was in.
I have friends who are RN's and that is one tough, stressful job. I can't imagine what it would be like without RNs around.
I am probably off beat here, but I would be remiss if I didn't throw this out. You were diagnosed at 19. Were you in college then? Sometimes, the college doctors since they can't do the normal surveys of teachers, go more on the need of the patient and maybe don't follow the actual guidelines.
So I am thinking of giving him a 1/4 of a 20mg adderall to start off with and see how that works does anyone else take adderall for head trauma? Just wanting to know if it has helped them. Thank you for responses, and I know the law of giving un prescribed drugs out, but the drugs he should be taking no one will prescribed them until he has a neurologist, but we cannot afford one with the state not helping us. All we have is each other and I have done everything I can do, alone.

My body started to feel swollen almost, specifically my stomach and face. I'm 26 years old, 5'9 and have always been a little under weight. I usually fluctuate between 125-140lbs. I have been taking Adderall for 10 plus years, the doctor I have now is my regular PC (1 year prescribing) I have ADD and PTSD which I take a low dose of Prazosin for at night. For an entire year I was never UAed, this past month I went to pick up my prescription and was told I would have to do a UA before I got it. Why is my 'shrink' trying to treat my Adult ADD with Bubropion HCL SR (100mg tab 2X a day)? Is this the right med for me? Good grief...it didn't even cut out my smoking. Both of my adult children are on Adderall and are doing fine. My doc keeps telling me that Concerta & Adderall are 'too addictive' ... what the heck ... I am not looking to get high or anything ... ve taken both Provigil and Adderall to help with the bad fatigue I get. I like Provigil a lot more than Adderall. It seems to have less severe side-effects for me. The only problem is that it causes my Irritable Bowel Syndrome to get out of control. So frustrating! Other than that, I would really recommend it. Best of luck to you, I hate the fatigue of this illness.
A friend of mine that I've known for 15 years now has been acting a little strange lately. On Tuesday 5/20 she called me late & told me she was on her way to my house b/c she was leaving her husband of 8 years. She said she needed a place to stay til Friday. She did not tell her sister parents what she was doing. Her husband told them on Thurs. 5/22. The next day, Friday, her family tried to sit her down & talk to her about what she was doing. She punched her sister in the face.
I have been prescribed Concerta 27.5 mgCR which is like adderall for ADHD. My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack.
I hope you know that adderall has caused death in some people ,they found that some people get high blood pressure and also some have had strokes after taken adderall and some have had heart problems .
to me it wouldn't be worth getting good grades.
also you should never take someone else drugs.
my son has been on adderall and then concerta ,until I found out he was having Seizures witch can also be a side effect from these drugs.
