adderall

807506 tn?1248649733 I had a mild form of cataplexy. I didn't even know I had it until I started the Xyrem! I used to take adderall but my blood pressue started going up. I read were they didn't even prescribe it in Canada d/t the side effects on your heart. So they switched it to Concerta. It doesn't work as well as the adderall but its better on my bp. I didn't realize you could take provigil and adderall at the same time. What does the Codeine do for you?
Avatar m tn With Nuvigil I do not take on weekends, as I can rest up more frequently, can I do the same with Adderall ? just stop taking for a day or two without the worry of W/Ds ?
1616953 tn?1443835511 I've been just konking out in the middle of the day. I wake up sometimes with my head on the table other times just leaning back (Ouch btw) Its a pain in the ass. If I wasn't working for myself I'm sure I would be fired. My doctor has me taking a low dose of Adderall in the morning and if I feel like I'm going to konk out a second (10mg) anytime before 2 PM. Does anyone else here have anything like this?
Avatar f tn s all that drug does for me (keeps me awake for the most part but no energy to move). I have been on 40-60mg adderall for 20yrs and wonder if I have done damage to my dopamine receptors and thus the reason I feel like I can't move, even though physically, I can. Anyone else with narco or that's been on adderall for so long, feel this way? I really really really need help.
Avatar f tn I am diagnosis with narcolepsy and have had symptoms for 5 years now. I have been taking 500 mg. of nuvigil for over 2 years. Plus, 60 mg of adderall a day. My symptoms have slowed down a little, but I have to take 2 naps a day and not drive anywhere. I have sleep studies twice a year and it seems to get worse each time. Its very aggravating to me! It seems like something would help. I see a team of specialists at Vanderbilt, but I need something else, but what? Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Just started with adderall and my left side arm and hand are tingling anything to be worried about?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with narcolepsy at age 25, took adderall ufor 5 yrs. then stopped for 1 yr to become pregnant. I took pro vigil for appr. 6,so. W/0 any help, des. Increased med and it sent me into violent emotions. I have had a recent MRI because of headaches. I need hello. I don't want the diagnosis of narcolepsy but I can't live like this.
805775 tn?1259592170 Yes adderall is an ADHD med., but it is also used for narcolepsy. Adderall should give you energy and at the same time supress your appetite.
Avatar n tn It affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. Adderall is used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADD. It is not a narcotic although there are those who mistreat it for its affects. I'm pretty sure you'll be just fine for urine test and should not be affected by it at all.
2164295 tn?1337019528 He takes Ritalin for the narcolepsy and clomipramine (generic for Anafranil) for the cataplexy. The Ritalin helps, but he can only take 3 pills a day (insurance won't approve more), and he really needs at least 2 more a day to stay awake and function. He has bad nightmares and yells out in his sleep when he does not have the clomipramine.
Avatar f tn Hey. Keep your head up, there's a lot you can do to work with this. Feeling defeated and depressed comes along with a sleep disorder, I know. I'm just a couple years younger than you. The same things happened to me. I was so smart but all my grades started falling because I could never get anything done. Everyone thought I was just lazy- I thought I was just lazy. But I was tired all the time and unmotivated. See a sleep specialist.
Avatar f tn Just read a post of a person on both Vyvanese and Adderall--my doctor said no to me. What about Desoxyn? What medicine works the best for ADD/ADHD coupled with narcolepsy???????????? Need ideas and what combinations you can suggest.
Avatar n tn A friend of mine that I've known for 15 years now has been acting a little strange lately. On Tuesday 5/20 she called me late & told me she was on her way to my house b/c she was leaving her husband of 8 years. She said she needed a place to stay til Friday. She did not tell her sister parents what she was doing. Her husband told them on Thurs. 5/22. The next day, Friday, her family tried to sit her down & talk to her about what she was doing. She punched her sister in the face.
Avatar n tn s perscribed adderall a few times. What im wondering is if adderall is only used to treat adhd and narcolepsy. I have always had low self confidence, so low that I would barely talk to anyone. I also have no sense of well being naturally, I never feel "good" mentally to just relax and do work without becoming too bored or tired or just un-happy about what im doing.
Avatar f tn This is usually indicated for narcolepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and may be used for migraine prevention. Hope this helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Emerging treatments being investigated for narcolepsy include hypocretin replacement, hypocretin gene therapy, stem cell transplant, skin temperature manipulation and immunotherapy, but further research is needed to confirm their effectiveness. So, discuss the various options with your doctor and hope you find a balance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I did have a friend who was on Adderall (same form of stimulant) for narcolepsy...it helped with that, but she lost massive weight and became paranoid. In low doses it may help with energy levels, but it is highly addictive. Here are two links that explain the precautions/warnings and also potential drug interactions. http://adhd.emedtv.com/vyvanse/vyvanse-warnings-and-precautions.html http://adhd.emedtv.com/vyvanse/vyvanse-drug-interactions.
Avatar f tn Modafinil is a drug for narcolepsy prescribed for MS fatigue. I am interested in knowing if you have narcolepsy or MS fatigue. Recently I have been experiencing extreme fatigue for which my neuro prescribed amantadine. It is working. The next step would be modafinil but I was told that many of their patients use Ritalin or adderall. Both are addictive so they start with the ones with least side effects first. So far amantadine has been helping get me through my day without crashing.
Avatar f tn i was wondering if i should be tested for narcolepsy, or if diagnosed with narcolepsy would they prescribe me to something similar to adderrall? if this were the case, being tested would not matter much if they would give me the same medications anyways. I just dont want to be misdiagnosed and on the wrong medication for the rest of my life.
Avatar f tn Hey, I so happen to stumble on this thread while trying to search for some answers. What are your symptoms for narcolepsy? I have always had vivid dreams.. ever since I was 3 or 4. I fall asleep in class almost everyday (actually throughout my undergraduate career. I always have to learn the stuff on my own because I can't stay awake in class). It doesn't matter if I sleep 10 hours or 12 hours a day. I can't pay attention in class and start thinking about other things..
Avatar n tn The combination of this study and my first MSLT nap study produced a perfect pattern for diagnosis of Narcolepsy. Has there ever been a study to look at the coorelation between the 2 diseases. Would many CFS sufferers be classified narcoleptic if they took the appropriate test? Narcolepsy leads back to hippothalmus and lack of production of hypocretin/orexin(?). Seems like all things lead to hippothalmus. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with narcolepsy approx. 5 yrs. ago. I haven't gone for another sleep study since, nor has my doctor seem to ever remember that I have narcolepsy. I am his only patient with narcolepsy, and if I ever end up in his office, it seems like he always forgets that I have narcolepsy. I don't believe he has a good understanding of this. Any suggestions. I am in the process of trying to switch my doctor, but in the meanwhile, I have been more tired lately than usual.
Avatar n tn So I am thinking of giving him a 1/4 of a 20mg adderall to start off with and see how that works does anyone else take adderall for head trauma? Just wanting to know if it has helped them. Thank you for responses, and I know the law of giving un prescribed drugs out, but the drugs he should be taking no one will prescribed them until he has a neurologist, but we cannot afford one with the state not helping us. All we have is each other and I have done everything I can do, alone.
Avatar f tn I haven't told my dr yet. The clinic I go to is staffed with PA's, and I'm not crazy about the doc who is there once a week, and he's just a GP. My thyroid has been stable for years. I read online about narcolepsy, but it said people slept for about 15 mnutes and awoke refreshed. I've gone to sleep in cars for years, but it comes on so suddenly, and driving is a terrifying experience when my eyes all of a sudden slam shut. I guess a neurologist?
