Common Questions and Answers about Adderall dosage for teenagers

adderall

Avatar n tn I am a stay at home mother with three young boys. I have been taking zoloft (100mg daily) for depression for about nine years. The only times I was not taking zoloft is during my second and third pregnancies (and, boy, it was tough). Zoloft has changed my life - and my family's happiness. Just recently I was also diagnosed with ADD. My doc gave me adderall 10mg IR to try.
1469794 tn?1286630557 I would get adderall and everytime I would run out of my DOC I would get hopped up on Adderall and I didn't have any WD's. So in my opinion YES Ritalin and Adderall or any stimulants do help BUT It is dangerous and I would never tell somebody to try it. I am only saying from experience that for me it stopped them but not saying for you or anybody else to do that. Everybody is different and what works for one may not work for another.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am concerned about the behavior of a friend of mine who is taking 340 mg adderall a day as prescribed by a psychiatrist for adult ADD. She has been on it for 5 - 6 years, starting on a much smaller dosage and indicating to the psychiatrist that it was not helping, and the psychiatrist kept upping the dosage. From the bit of research I have done, my understanding is that this may not be a reasonable dosage of adderall.
Avatar m tn I have been taking adderall for 6 years now. I read your post and I have experienced exactly the same effects. The only thing that stopped me from slowing down my mind was to up the dosage. However each time you up the dosage it seems to take about a year or so until my mind slows down again while on the medication. I've asked two different doctors about the long term effects of adderall but they both claim there is no information or known studies of prolonged adderall use.
Avatar f tn I became addicted to oxycodone 15mg in 2012 after my first back surgery, obviously I was on them while I was in the hospital for 7days after surgery then took them for about 4 days once I got home. I tried to stop and became sick and realized I was addicted. I go to a pain clinic for my chronic pain. Since then I had surgery on my elbow and just 2 weeks ago I had another back surgery. My oxycodone has never been upped in dosage so of course it doesn't help with the pain.
Avatar f tn My daughter is very competetive in track and just stared taking adderall for her ADD. Will the adderall slow her running down? She is very concerned.
Avatar m tn I stopped taking my perscription to adderall xr 30mg two weeks ago since my semester at college was over. I was taking this dosage for almost three months. Since I have stopped, I have noticed fatigue in the morning along with a foggy thought process through out the day. Is this normal? And how long does this withdrawl last for?
Avatar f tn Adderall 10 mg = Vyvanse 30 mg, Adderall 20 mg = Vyvanse 50 mg, Adderall 30 mg = Vyvanse 70 mg. I always start lower than expected with a change to Vyvanse, as for about 10-15% that anticipated dose of Vyvanse proves too much. I don’t want folks on my watch to experience 10% problems." I would also check the comments in the above link and some of them might apply to you. the link is - http://www.corepsych.
284002 tn?1244547555 I am currently in therapy as I believe my depression is part biological and cognitive. I was at a dosage of 300mg for a week and felt VERY anxious now the doctor wants me to take 150 one day and 300 the next and see what happens. My therapist suggested I try to add an SSRI like Zoloft in the mix... I'll check my Dr.
Avatar f tn I will say this....Adderall is one nasty drug. It HAS it's purposes, but for those who aren't taking it for those reasons, it can be dicey at best. I no longer have a particular friend in my life due to the psychosis this drug caused her. If a doc has you on it, you'd better talk to him/her before doing anything with it.
Avatar f tn Adderall is a cakewalk compared to opiates. You will be just fine. Kids stay on adderall and still get into Harvard--in fact, kids are purposefully getting on adderall to improve their grades. Coming off something like adderall is in no way, shape or form as hard as painkillers so I know you can do it. Just drink lots of juice, have some tylenol just in case. You'll be fine, honey.
Avatar f tn But typically doctors start you off at the lowest possible logical amount and then wait for feedback before upping the dosage. The 30mg adderall that you were on was probably an extended release version. It was bigger because it packed enough to last all day. Allergies are pretty rare, and if you had it, I think that you would know fairly rapidly. Remember, anxiety can easily cause breathing troubles (hyperventilating, etc.). Beers shouldn't be a problem.
1012981 tn?1322603293 Bob, I actually take Adderall XR and IR each day and have for about 4/5 years.. Here's how my setup is, my work schedule is from 5am-2:20pm. Adderall XR 30mg Capsule at 4:30am Adderall IR 30mg Tablet at 8:30/9am Adderall IR 20mg Tablet at 12:30/1pm This gets me through the day and I'm able to stay on task, focused and be productive. I don't feel the crash until about 5pm, at which point i'm basically useless.
3050754 tn?1340206018 Prozac and Paxil both significantly block the pathway for the metabolism of Adderall and all the amphetamine products. So if you are using either of these two with adderall - that could be part of the problem. The link is here - http://www.corepsychblog.com/2006/11/adderall-prozac-and-paxil-problem-not-solution/ Hope some of this might be helpful in explaining to your doc what is going on. I may also have some stuff on common adult requirements for XR- I'll keep looking.
Avatar m tn mirtazapine and propanol. the adderral has helped me keep focus but it has also given me the side effects that i haven't felt since i was younger. I have been feeling increased anxiety, panic attacks that are unusual, nightmares and very pronounced depression. I also have been smoking maurijuanna but occasionally not too much. Theres so many variable that i don't know which is the main contributor to the increased depressive feelings.
Avatar n tn I'm a 40 yo male and have been taking Adderall for three years now....same dosage (30mg twice daily), but take it 7 days a week for ADD. My doc suggested that once a year I take two weeks off to "reset" my system...but I've never wanted to go that long without taking it! Well....it's my 4th day of being totally off and I'm feeling great. I started cutting back by a 1/4 of a dose each day.
Avatar n tn The dose might be too high. I've had similar things happen when I was on too high a dosage of Adderall. If I'm not mistaken, Vyvanse is a longer-duration version of dextroamphetamine - not too far from adderall, which is a mixture of amphetamine salts (mostly dextroamphetamine). Mention it to your pdoc - chances are it's from the dosage and it needs to be changed a bit. When mine was a bit too high, I noticed weird things like that, such as my tongue would continually rub my teeth.
Avatar n tn Been on vyvanse a week now for my add,and I have finally I think my dosage is right.70mg is whats feels right to me with hardly no side effects at all.The problem is that my doc prescribed me 60 30mg capsules so im trying to figure out how many 30 mg capsules is 70 mg vyvanse which i know that a 30mg vyvanse is 10mg adderall and 70 mg vyvanse is 30mg adderall. Is 7 30mg vyvanse capsules 70mg dose .I switched from taking 30mg adderall twice a day im going to have to call doc tommorroww.
Avatar n tn re feeling with the Adderall. I hope this does the job for you and you start to feel better quickly.....I think you will. Take care.
Avatar n tn My 7 year old son has been taking 10 MG of Adderall daily for the past 2 1/2 months. Recently his Dr. RXd him Clonidine to help him sleep. Since he started taking the med Adderall I have noticed him starting to tic. After discussing this with his Dr at a med check, his Dr assured me that it is normal, but within the last week or so it has gotten worse.
Avatar n tn i started taking the generic for adderall 3 d/ ago and i have a sore throat and my tongue is a bit swollen and i developed these lesions.. one on each side of my tongue and its very irritating and a little painful. at the dentist yesterday they told me its wasn't an infection but they thought it was a side effect from unknowingly clenching my teeth, and rubbing against my tongue due to the adderall.

Avatar n tn I know someone that I care about dearly who takes 25 mg of Adderall a day for ADD. The other night she was taking pills like candy and going insane with them and just swallowing them. She has about 280 -300 mg of adderall in her system right now at this moment. She took the 280-300mg of adderall all in the past 24 hours and she is acting like she is on speed. She is 120 pounds and is about 5'4''. Could you please tell me if she needs call a poison control right away? Can she die?
Avatar m tn They all say they’ve been getting tons of calls for it for the last few days. None of them know when they will get more, and they’ve told me that their suppliers/distributors don’t know either. I’ve checked Pharmacies all over the South Bay area of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Torrance and surrounding cities. If anyone in southern Los Angeles County has filled this prescription in the last few day’s I’d really like to know where, so that I can fill this before I run out.
Avatar m tn I am no doctor or anything but I also was on adderall for years until my addiction with pain medication took control of my life my suboxone doctor told me that adderall and suboxone taken together are like using cocaine and herion similar anyway. My suboxone doctor refused to prescribe the adderall until I had tapperd off the suboxone.
506259 tn?1228788619 After 3 days, I tried the adderall and like magic - no pain again. Can anyone explain this phenomenon. Did being on adderall for a year and a half create the fibro symptoms after completely off of it, and then after months of physical problems, taking a little relieved the horrible pain? I find nothing on this, and my psychiatrist said it is not typical by any means. However, this, in my personal case, is the honest to god truth.
