Avatar n tn So, the range of possible symptoms can vary greatly. In addition, the degree of severity of the symptoms can also vary greatly, from mild, to moderate, to severe. And, while it is correct to say that most children who display ADHD manifest some difficulty in their ability to attend to some subject matter in school, it is not necessarily true that a child with ADHD will have problems sustaining attention in all subject areas.
1789235 tn?1315160481 Some medical researchers note that approximately 40%-50% of ADHD-hyperactive children will have (typically non-hyperactive) symptoms persist into adulthood." From http://www.rxlist.com/attention_deficit_hyperactivity_disorder_adhd/article.htm#tocb It can be re-diagnosed by a doctor - which you would have to do if you wanted to try medication. However, there are some very good sites aimed at the adult ADD person that give a lot of information and coping skills.
Avatar n tn There are a few symptoms nessisary (sorry about the spelling)for a positive diagnosis of ADD/ADHD these are spontineity (random purchases, spur of the moment choices etc.)inability to focus and, lack of organizational skills (also unusually high amounts of energy in ADHD.) I have ADD i was diagnosed at the age of 6 and have found many stragies to cope, instead of fighting it, flit from task to task, everything will stil get done quikly. getting alot of exercise helps, espesially aerobic.
459210 tn?1237385203 there are also some really good ADD/ADHD sites that have a checklist of common symptoms, I could not beleive it, I ticked every box. the interesting thing is that ADD is genetic and if you have it one of your parents do.
Avatar f tn On several of the adult ADD sites, I have noticed a very strong link to ADD and depression. Especially if the ADD was not caught till adulthood (this is very common in women). When you were a child, it was difficult to diagnosis ADD (especially if you were intelligent). If you were a hyper little boy, you got the attention. A little girl pulling B's and C's didn't get noticed. Personally, I think that is still going on a lot today. A wonderful site for adults is http://jeffsaddmind.
Avatar n tn I would definately signs see has symptoms of ADD. I am getting her evaluated in 2 weeks. Some days she focus well. Some days not at all. She will read anything that is not nailed down. She is now starting to read the Ann of Green Gables series. My husband thinks it will encourage her daydreaming and overactive "imagination." What do you think?
Avatar n tn Certainly you exhibit some of the symptoms of ADD. You are also of an age that did not focus on girls in public schools who had ADD. All the attention tended to go to those hyper little boys. So its entirely possible that you were overlooked, specially if you had the intelligence to "get by". A site that you might be interested in checking out is - http://jeffsaddmind.com/ Its for adults with ADHD, but a lot of it applies. Take a while to go through it.
Avatar m tn My kids call it "zoning out". I've been doing that most of my life...since I can first remember anyway. I was 28 when they finally gave it a name...before that it was called " just needs a spanking", "needs a lickin", " needs the electric cord", etc. My report cards were filled with "She needs more sticktoitivness" and other such malarkey.
Avatar n tn I have suffered from ADD symptoms as a result of my drug and alcohol use a decade ago. I have been on many ADD and anti depressant meds but all to no avail except with Wellbutrin XR and somewhat with Concerta. The Wellbutrin worked amazingly well a long time ago but stopped shortly after I took a small sip of hard liquor. My doctors are perplexed by this but that is the only explanation I can come up with.
Avatar f tn I took a little quiz online that said I might be ADD, but I never had problems like this until the last year or so, so I doubt I am. Can bipolar disorder cause ADD-like symptoms? Or could it be caused by the medications I am on? I take lamictal and abilify. I want to take an algebra class to finish my degree in the fall, but I am afraid I won't be able to pass because I can't concentrate. Should I tell the school I'm bipolar and see if they can help me somehow?

Avatar f tn Is there any way to add MS symptoms that aren't on your list? For example, one of my worst ones is itching, so I'd like to add it. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I just talked to his therapist today, believe he may have some sort of PDD. Unsure right now if he even has ADD. So, i'm like confused. He tried to hide the sexual part of this until now, when he got caught in school. I have always known him to talk to himself. I think it's a bit more than just security blankets now. Doc wants to put him on tegretol or possibly mellaril. Is this typical ADD behavior or something else? Is Mellaril or tegretol used for this kind of behavior?
1063463 tn?1302278219 The symptoms you stated suggests me to a different diagnosis. It seems to me that you may have a problem with your thyroid gland may be hyperthyroidism. Its better you take up the Thyroid Function Test which will rule out this.More information should be provided such as your weight, appetite, periods.Get me updated with more information soon after you take up a general examination and required lab tests.
Avatar f tn I'm worried that all the previous symptoms are linked to the present ones. I'm more worried now because of what happened this morning. I thought everything might be separate occurrences but now I'm hoping it's not incontinence. Do these symptoms sound like MS? I wish I had a definite answer to what is going on with me.
Avatar m tn Isn't jock itch easy to get rid of? It shouldn't take this amount of time. I also am suffering from oral thrush a little.
Avatar n tn I've been to three different dermatologists and recieved three different answers. My symptoms started this past summer with a rashy patch on my chest about the size of a half dollar, composed of small bumps. None of the dermatologists were able to take a scrape sample though and ruled out a fungal infection. They prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonnide .1% It works to a point, but never completely goes away. It also gets terribly itchy.
Avatar f tn 1 is yourself and your current age, the 2nd is that of you as a young child. You think of what a young child is like- they get bored easily and always need some form of entertainment otherwise they can run a muck, they get grumpy and angry easily and can over react to situations, they can misunderstand you and so forth. Its like that, so just try to think what you would do if you were a young child. If your finding yourself getting chatty, go and find something to keep that mind of yours busy!

Anything else come to mind besides those 2? I'm not looking for a diagnosis; just some suggestions if anyone knows anything else or if you've been dx by this method.
Avatar n tn My husband (54years) has adult ADD. He is seeing a psychiatrist, who prescribes Concerta. He's been on it for about 6 months - says that, while it hasn't been a magic bullet or anything, that he feels more focused with it. This is the problem: I find him increasingly difficult to live, due to his list of symptoms. Sometimes, they seem to be getting worse. I guess I feel that there are other things he could be doing to manage this illness. But he never follows through on anything.
Avatar f tn I am a 50 year old, peri-menopausal female experiencing chronic symptoms of hot flashes, agitation, depression, etc. I also have ADD, not currently on meds but have a very hard time concentrating on anything. I just started on Lexapro. What ADD med would you recommend for me?
Avatar n tn , WISC) that might be available. If it is determined that the child displays a sufficient array of symptoms (ranging among three axes: inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity) to qualify for the diagnosis, other possible explanations for the symptoms must be considered before settling on the diagnosis of ADHD.
Avatar n tn I have been put on a low dose of methadone as of yesterday afternoon to help me through this and I have to tell you I feel a hundred times better. My concern is (I have 15 of these and taking 1/2 pill a day) will I be feeling alright after this is gone or am I going through some other w/d.
Avatar n tn I have made extensive research concerning adult ADD and ADD in general and I do believe that in my first 6 or 7 years of school I did not exhibit any of the symptoms of ADD. I do believe, however, that these symptoms started manifesting a short time after this period of my life. I am looking for adequate psychoterapeutic techniques(behavioral or otherwise) to resolve my procrastination issues. Medication is completely out of the question.
