Avatar n tn But thank you again for writing your letter. It really helped me to feel not so alone in the world of difficult children.
Avatar n tn You are completely wrong. In every way. Jaime is absolutely correct. All of the symptoms Jaime described have been experienced by me and other I know who tried the quit Paxil. As my father told me, "If you know nothing about a subject it's best to not join in on the conversation." If you are so sure of your words, why not take Paxil for a couple months doctor, then quit..see who's right here? Hmm..?
Avatar f tn I have had these lumps since my first baby was born in 2001. I now have 4 children and have had problems with the tenderness of them for the past six years. They are the size of ping-pong balls and it is very hard to find a bra that fits with out it rubbing or poking the excess tissue. It is very embarrasing. I won't wear a sleeveless shirt. However, my best friend is getting married this Sept. and I am the Maid of Honor. Of coarse the dresses are sleeveless.
494594 tn?1212971528 I understand that there is a lot of media attention (excuse the pun) on ADD, ADHD, impulsivity, inattention. However, symptoms of inattention or restlessness are common in many learning and emotional problems such as learning disabilities, anxiety, moodiness, and motivational issues. So if I go to the car mechanic and ask him or her to check only my battery because of the screeching noise, I would be remiss in not also having the whole car looked at.
Avatar n tn FYI - I don't however have the smell when watching tv or when I am in front of the computer - it is ALL DAY LONG. Someone also mentioned other symptoms etc. I have had no colds, my thyroid is perfect, I eat super healthy (vegan), dont use deodorant (no I am not a hippie), I dont feel like i have a sinus infection (feel pretty good actually), have not taken an antibiotic in over 8+ years...
Avatar n tn I read through a checklist of ADD symptoms, and she doesn't seem to fit the criteria. However, the criteria seemed focused on older children with various questions about homework and the like.
209405 tn?1189759421 I don't know anything about the relationship between Graves and ADD, but what you just described sounds like ADD. I have been a teacher for almost 15 years and some of the brightest children in my classes have been AD- very unmotivated, lacked self control, not turn on homework, but ace tests, etc. You could see your regular doctor about this and your concerns. There is medication for adult ADD.
Avatar n tn I am very concerned and have consulted with my pedatrician, we are currently waiting on results from a complete blood workup. I do not know if she is having some symptoms of ADD or if she is acting out from the change to 1st grade with a very strict and overbearing teacher.
Avatar f tn These early warning signs of Autism do not automatically suggest autism, but are simply an Autism checklist for parents, These early signs of Autism should be monitored in all children and if exist further evaluation should occur. This aids in early detection and treatment for Autism .Your child's pediatrician should be asking questions regarding your child's developmental milestones at each regular check-up and if you have any concerns share it with your doctor.
Avatar n tn ecspecially if you live in an older home or your child attends school in an older building. lead levels use to be required they are now just recommended. also, there are a lot of recalls on toys becuase of the dangerous lead levels.
209405 tn?1189759421 I gave him a checklist and he picked my EXACT same symptoms. My sisters think I'm trying to make him paranoid and now he won't tell my parents because he thinks they won't believe him. I believe in my heart I had hyperthyroidism at his age but if I complained my parents would say I needed more exercise. I think if he is treated now, it will change his life. I was always smart but so ADD and tired all the time. I went to an ok college with a degree in computer science that I never really used.
Avatar f tn now get saddled with some disorder of ism I had all the classic symptoms of ADD all through school, I recently did an online checklist for ADHD and came out as "very likely" have it.
Avatar n tn Kurt Woeller, experts of Autism, and VERY reputable in CA, I did this to add to the research to know more about this, to be prepared if my children would be born with it. So, you may want to rule that out, where it is early, and don't go with the 1st diagnosis, get more than one opinions. much love and concern. tsnowe123 10/07/07 PS Dr. Shaw and Dr. Kurt Woeller are VERY reputable, in CA.
Avatar n tn the charter school does not. in addition, the public school works hard to help these children succeed in the class by implementing modifications recommended by specialists. i was told a child like my student (similar in many ways to your son) would be seen as a nuisance to the teacher and the only modification would be to remove him from the class and put him in the office. your situation is different though. it is clear you are an advocate for your child.
Avatar m tn Doctors could do a much better job with that piece of the ADD/ADHD puzzle. Stimulant medication works on children with ADD/AdHD and makes a noticeable difference. They focus and are calm. When the meds wear off, not so much. People without add/adhd are revved up when they take stimulants. It's a noticeable difference in reaction and one this doctor doesn't touch on.
Avatar f tn I am a worried mum of 4, my 3 year old is so angry all the time, i am unsure of the symptoms of adhd but wondered if anyone could help me find a cause and a example is every day when i pick him up from nursery he kicks and screams especially if they have changed the routine and this leaves both him and myself very upset.
Avatar f tn He is currently on 25 mg Vyvance and the last month he has said it made a world of difference with his attention in school. His grades are like a rollar coaster, either failing for incomplete or missing or outstanding 95+. My question is 1) Is it a good idea for my son to take the meds whenever he feels like it? He wants to take it on days he wants to focus on the instruction and other days he doesn't want to take the medication because he says it makes his personality boring.
Avatar f tn My 7 yr old son has been diagnosed with ODD we go to counselling and we now have a new system in place at school. It so far is not working. He is very disruptive and has been hitting and kicking other children. I feel so lost and angry we talk about his behavior all the time. I just cant seem to get through to him. He is so over the top thinking he knows everything and he talks back and yells and carries on so much all the time. He thinks this is a joke.
Avatar n tn Part of your son's improvement will likely come with time and maturation. The frontal lobe is not yet fully developed in children in the early teens. As the frontal lobe develops, children tend to be less impulsive, more reflective, more able to learn from experience, and require less 'shadowing' by adults. The boarding school sounds like a very good idea for him - hopefully he can remain there.
Avatar m tn He can't lay still and disrupts the other children. Circle time is frequently a time when he gets in trouble for failing to keep his hands to himself or not listening and paying attention. The strange thing is that he is able to focus when he is interested in something. He is obsessed with horses and if you give him an activity related to horses, he can sit and do it for a good 10-20 minutes. If it is something he's not interested in, he is unable to sit and focus on that activity.
Avatar n tn Thanks for that info Patsy. There is some overlap in symptoms, but also quite a few distinguishing features. But it's another thing to add to my neurotic checklist!!!
Avatar f tn what shocked me even more was to realise I had all of the add symptoms also!my ex has all ADHD and odd symptoms and has done since being a young child.i have a meeting on Thursday to discuss the boys needs and my concerns in more 4y/o teacher did call me in this afternoon though to express her concern at the fact he doesn't mix with peers and will play alongside them but not actually with them!fingers crossed they are starting to take notice now!!!!
401095 tn?1351395370 Those that do -- alcohol and heroin, for example -- produce a physical dependence, which means that when you stop taking them you have withdrawal symptoms -- gastrointestinal problems, shaking, cramps, difficulty breathing in some people and difficulty with temperature control. Drugs that don't have those withdrawal symptoms include some of the most addicting substances ever known -- crack cocaine and methamphetamine are the two most dramatic examples.
Avatar f tn The scores on his 2nd grade achievement test places his intellectual ability at mid year 3rd grade. DO my son have symptoms of ADD-ADHD. Should I retain my son in the second grade to improve on the weakness stated by his teacher.
Avatar f tn While he is social, he struggles to connect to other children in very subtle ways. When he is anxious, you can really see the autism come out by his constant stimming and unusual body postures. Some of his speech is scripting, albeit appropriate to the situation. He likes to look at certain shapes out of the corner of his eyes (although not that often). Sometimes he likes to sit and spin objects, although not as much as when he was an infant.
Avatar f tn I read that PANDAs is usually noticed in children about the age of 7 but that it can occur earlier. Children don't (or can't) always articulate what is going on with themselves so earlier occurrences of this tragic condition may not be brought to the parents' attention until around that age. What I've read did say though that it is associated with children who have not yet hit puberty but does not mean it can't occur later in life (teens.
469720 tn?1388149949 Medical errors can occur in many forms including prescribing medications in people with allergies, wrong dosages, wrong site surgery and many others. Most of the problems occur do to systems errors more so than do to the incompetence of a single individuals. I recently had surgery on my ankle and I was quite concerned with this issue.
Avatar n tn Thank you all so much for the comments. My Son met ALL of his milestones on time. Some like the gross motor skills were right at the end of the "average"..He's always been a happy baby, toddler, little boy. He listens, communicates & talks very well. He has lined up some of his toys, like cars. But he also plays with them...I have absolutely no reason to think he has Autism except for that hand flapping. & because the school dist mentioned it.
544292 tn?1268886268 Day 22 Cold Turkey Tramadol ... I woke up HAPPY. I used to wake up happy all the time, before the Tramadol. Waking up happy is good. Then I tried to move. I had to use my hands and arms to get up out of bed. My body has been pushed as far as it will go. So after trying all my best tricks (aminos, coffee, food, vitamins, water) I finally stopped the struggle and called in sick for work. Tomorrow will be a busier day anyhow.
