I had a yeast infection over the last two weeks, the first week I was given diflucan but days later I went bac to the doc and she said i still had yeast. she then started me on a 3 day suppossitory with external itch cream which I used but I think the cream broke me out because that same night I felt a cut on my labia.
The nect week I got another yeast infection and it went away after a monistat application. I have another yeast infection rigvht now and have not had to take the acyclovir since last month. I'm wondering if i'm going to have a yeast infection every month now and how common this is for other people with similar situations as myself and how should i go about treating this? Will my body build up immunities to one dose over the counter inserts?
t come in for another 4 days, so my question is could I go to the pharmacy and get an over the counter yeast infection cream like Monistat or something and try to treat the yeast infection while I am taking acyclovir? Would it interfere with anything else going on? I don't have a primary care doctor so I got tested at a walk-in clinic, so asking my doctor about a simple question like this isn't ideal. Any input would be great thank you!
For the past week I have been taking an antibiotic called Biaxin (for a sinus infection) which I know can trigger yeast infections. I have had yeast infections before and some have been frightening and painful, but this feels a bit different....

I have been sick for 1+ week with a terrible UTI and vaginal yeast infection. I was seen last week and given oral antibiotics and oral yeast infection meds (one dose). On Thursday, I ended up at the ER because of the pain associated with urination. It felt like someone had a razor blade on my vuvla when I went to the bathroom. The ER doc changes my antibiotic and gave me vaginal cream to use for 7 days. As of yesterday, I still have extreme pain when I would pee.
the doctor prescribed acyclovir to her and claimed she had a bacterial infection. ive done the research on acyclovir and know its mainly used for the treatment of herpes but seeing as how she has been tested and the results were negative, i'm wondering if these symptoms i am experiencing are just a cause of a bacterial infection from uncleanliness from the constant sexual activities. i plan on seeing a doctor just in case but i am just a little worried about it.

I was very saddened to find out that I have HSV-1 genital today, via swab/PCR testIng. My symptoms began with what I thought was a yeast infection, but grew into 20+ lesions. I've been with one guy who had no cold sores and has yet to be tested, so I'm not sure exactly how I acquired it.
Anyway, my entire vulva is swollen and red with 20+ blisters/lesions which are extremely painful.
About three weeks ago, I felt burning pain in my right lower butt cheek. I also had a yeast infection. Well, the yeast infection cleared up, but the pain remained and I had shooting pains and tingles in both of my legs. I keep taking the antivirals as well as healthy doses of lysine and other vitamins. It is three weeks later and no signs of any rash, redness, bumps, or blisters, but I still have pain in my legs and butt and occasional twitches in my vaginal area and butt.
If you do have hsv2 then you know it's a newly acquired infection. If you are still dating the person you had sex with recently, at this point the best course of action is for them to get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what their status is.
You've also treated for the whopper of a yeast infection they found. It's very hard to tell if it's the acyclovir working because it's herpes or the yeast treatment working for you.
The tests came back positivive for yeast. I used Monistat for the infection. I do however have a history of bad yeast infections. I mean really bad! Maybe I should get some diflucan since I have found it to work better than the cream.
As far as testing goes, I was diagnosed with HSV 1 through a culture (swab). The doctor said that since I was having an outbreak, it would be the best way to know the type for sure.

Hi, I have had 3 cortisone injections for nasal swelling and pain due to allergies. I have also been on Acyclovir for a year, to manage Herpes II infection. Also have sudden hearing loss and tinnitus in R ear diagnosed as viral, possibly herpes. After the last cortisone injection in January '09, I am having a genital herpes flareup which does not seem to be responding to Famcyclovir treatment. Also sores in my mouth. Am I possibly having a Herpes flareup due to the cortisone injections?
So was in a relationship with a man in Jan and we were having unprotected sex we are no longer together.Then on Feb 23rd I stated to have yeast infection symptoms the itching and burning on urination. I actually get yeast infections often so I went and bought a 3 day treatment well it didn't seem to help so I was just leaving it alone and going to let it go away on its own but it never really did go away.
t a huge issue for me to go thru this one how ever is kicking my butt. So I will wait until this one clears as it is getting better and I already have a yeast infection due to antibiotics I have been on recently so I am hopeful since it does seem to have gotten better that I will wait it out and continue taking the acyclovir until it goes away.

Just curious, do yeast infections cause more outbreaks? I've never had a yeast infection. Another question i had was my outbreaks now tend to occur above my butt crack. Is it still possible to transmit it if i have sex with a condom since the outbreak is not vaginal?
I was in a previous relationship for 4 years without Valtrex and didnt use condoms and my partner was never infected.
m never a chronic YI person but for the past few months I belive in July I thought I had a yeast infection so I went to CVS got monastat 1 used it and I thought that was it because I've used it before and it worked however this time I thought it would be ok until one day I went to pee and it burnt so bad like broken skin right by the opening eventualy my husband took a picture and there it is, a round broken skin.
Is it normal to get a recurrence so often? I am prone to yeast infections, does this mean I will be getting them every time I have a recurrence? Now I am concerned about HIV, I got tested for that about two days after I had the last sexual encounter and the result was negative but I can not get that out of my head. What do yo think about the difference in the medications acyclovir and Vatrex? My insurance does not cover much for Valtrex which I am taking as a suppressive medication.

I went in for my physical on 11/9. I had been having some vaginal burning for about 2 wks (thought it was a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis which I've had in the past). The doctor took a look down there and said she saw some lesions. Since I wasn't having any vaginal discharge she immediately said she thought it was genital herpes. She didn't do a culture b/c she didn't have the swabs so she did a blood test.
About three days later, came down with what I thought was a yeast infection. I was traveling for work, so four days later I went to see the dr to determine what it was. They tested and confirmed yeast. I took diflucan, and was instructed to take another one in three days since the infection was bad and I was very swollen.
About a week into my infection, I was washing in the shower and say two small pimple like lesions right on the inside of the labia.

Yes, it's been over two weeks. I was diagnosed by swabbing the area with HSV2. BV has been common for me since I started dealing with the FM a few years ago. Could be that too I suppose. Docs also think I might have early lupus at this point but I can't get testing done right now.
My question is that before and after I started to taking acyclovir(herpes) and levofwxuir(gonarrhea) I developed a white paste discharge from my vagina. Is this the cause of gonarrhea, herpes or the meds that I was taking? Also will this go away for good....I'm talking about the the white paste discharge and gonarrhea? I know the herpes is not curable but is there something that I can take to prevent the outbreak for coming back besides acyclovir....something over the counter?

Finally my current gynocologist said a few days it might just be a yeast infection, or some other light infection/STD. I am worried it is AIDS. is there any chance of it being aids? I have gotten tested for AIDS 6 monthes after I found out i was positive for herpes (2006).
I'm going to get tested in the next week anyways, but is there anyone who knows any facts that could make the chance of AIDS very low and that of a yeast infection very high?
at this point, no more self treating for yeast. also no more trying to battle it with garlic and yogurt either since neither are very effective at treating or preventing vaginal yeast overgrowth ( commercial yogurts, when applied vaginally actually encourage yeast overgrowth! ). You need to be seen regularly when you have symptoms and get properly tested for yeast. Indeed some of us are just prone to it but there are far more effective ways to deal with it.

Ten years ago as part of a routine STD testing I tested positive for antibodies to HSV 1 and 2. (herpes type I and II IgG and IgM. HSV-I IgG ab >6. HSV-II IgG ab 4.90.
I never have symptoms or outbreaks and if I do, they are so mild I don't notice them. I recently began a relationship with a man. I am a woman. He gets cold sores. We have not had intercourse yet. My NP recommended 400 mg a day of acylovir to reduce shedding.
