Avatar f tn you need to have patience tedabell - this forum is all volunteer and we aren't all sitting around here 24/7! stress has little to do with herpes. studies consistantly show it isn't a trigger for recurrences. you are having less recurrences because you are on daily suppressive therapy. Honestly nothing else you are doing is helping reduce them but that. the virus is never dormant.
Avatar m tn I have had herpes simplex type 2 (genital) for about 2.5 years. Acyclovir and lysine have reduced outbreaks dramatically. If I have unprotected sex with a partner who has been tested for herpes simplex 2 ( the test results indicate that exposure was quite awhile ago), will I risk causing my partner to have an outbreak? Will my partner's herpes cause me to have an outbreak?
Avatar m tn a lesion lesion will not stick around that long. did you have any testing done? this sounds far more like warts than herpes. return to your provider for proper evaluation though if who you were seeing prescribed the almost worthless acyclovir cream for genital herpes treatment and didn't do testing in the first place, I'd pick somewhere else to be seen because it sounds like this provider isn't very familiar with std's and treatment/diagnosis.
Avatar m tn this is normal for your genitals to have that 'goosebump' look to them. that's just the hair follicles. If you think these are turning into warts, odds are they aren't. if the condolox isn't working to keep your hpv under control, talk to your dermatologist about other options. You can consider daily suppressive therapy with any 1 of the 3 herpes antivirals to keep yoru herpes under control.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with genital warts in 1999 I was treated with aldara the warts didn't come back until years later and the outbreaks weren't that bad. The outbreaks would come every other year and go away without treatment. However, in August 2008 I started getting outbreaks and I thought it was genital warts but it turned out to be genital herpes and I am still having outbreaks my last outbreak was in November but I am on suppressive theraphy.
Avatar f tn I was reading however that having no symptoms for hsv and having such low results it was advices to get retested although having genital warts I thought that was one manifestation of the hsv virus so I got retested for all std at planned parenthood and my test results came back as negative for hsv 2 I asked the nurse what kind of test and the number of my results and she told me that the test was igg (which was also the one from Mexico) and that the number was .
Avatar m tn He tested me, and I came back positive for HSV2. I started taking suppressive meds (acyclovir 800mg/day). The bump popped, diminished, then a month later came back, still no itch, no pain. I'm thinking this is a HSV2 outbreak and treat it with increased acyclovir. Time goes by and I'm asking questions on the HSV bulletin boards, and its not adding up. Finally I figure out it must be a wart. I get the medicine and the wart goes away in 3 days.
Avatar f tn I'm embarrassed to say that I don't remember for sure. I don't recall hearing the word "herpes" but I know for a fact I had genital warts and was treated for them for a while before they subsided and neither the warts, nor herpes, (if that's what it was) resurfaced again. The dermatologist I saw last week referred to my lesion or sore as "herpes." Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn I started having outbreaks in Aug 2008. I thought it was genital warts outbreaks because I was diagnosed with genital warts in 1999. At the time I was treated with aldara but I would get recurrances from time to time. However I went to the clinic and doctor and I was being treated with aldara, condylox, TCA, and podofilox and the whole time it was genital herpes I didn't find out until April 2010.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctors to get checked out, and he took a look and prescribed me Acyclovir. I have been taking acyclovir for the past 20 days and my outbreak is still there no of the lesions have popped and gone away. I have been bringing a ton of water and not eating processed food. Shouldn't it have cleared up by now? This is my initial outbreak and like I said before it has been three weeks since the start of the outbreak now. Any advice would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor because I felt sick, had a rash on my arm and runny nose. I also had a few spots on my genital area that my doctor thought were genital warts. He froze them. I later had an outbreak of some sort above the scrotal area. It was somewhat like a rash, kind of red and spotty. About 8 weeks after the initial test I started acyclovir. The rash/whatever began to clear, but before it did I had the doctor do a biopsy. One came back as molluscum (at the base of my penis).
Avatar f tn Btw I had been applying aldara to the warts and I have been wart free for 1 month and no recurrence. My question is should I retest for hsv and how reliable are the results if I had been taking acyclovir on and off?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply Grace, do you think these are genital warts?they are very small, and for sure, I will have genital warts because I asked that guy he had 4 while we had sex that time. I think mine is just developing. My next question is, if I will be healed in a month, I can't have sex anymore after that? is there a possibility to pass genital warts to the next partner even you are healed and warts are gone?
Avatar f tn She has received the HPV vaccine, and has undergone treatments monthly (photofilin) for ongoing recurrent outbreaks. Recently, she received laser surgery for genital warts, which had serious painful side effects. Once healed, she had another outbreak of genital warts. This is seriously affecting our ability to have sex, and causing tremendous anxiety and stress in our recent marriage. We currently live in Asia and have limited external medical resources.
Avatar f tn m asking this question is because I have had herpes outbreaks for about two years and five months. I mistaken it for genital warts because I was diagnosed with that about twelve years ago and thought I was having a outbreak of warts but it turned out to be genital herpes.I was in denial so I refused to take medication for my outbreaks for a long time. I didn't start taking medication until June 2010.
Avatar f tn I have been diganosed with external genital warts and am awaiting CO2 laser vaporization surgery. My first questions are: can the warts spread on me if I shave my external genital area or if I masturbate, can they be spread into my vagina? My second questions are: can I transmit the genital warts to my future partners if I don't have any visible warts and can HPV be transmitted to my children if they use the same bathtub after I have showered?
Avatar f tn ) My doctor explained different types of HPV and said that it could be possible I also had the type which caused genital warts. I had a second Herpes outbreak which lasted a couple of months, (and started thinking she misdiagnosed it and thought it was genital warts). I had Aldara cream prescribed for warts on my hand at home and tried it a few times in that area.
Avatar n tn you only take acyclovir daily for cold sore prevention? it isn't effective as a once daily treatment for herpes. being on acyclovir suppressively will mess up testing for hsv2. that said, this encounter was only oral sex so you really were never at risk for hsv2. blood testing for std's a few days post encounter was inaccurate. most of the std's you were at risk for can't be tested for via blood as well as you tested too early.
Avatar f tn Some HPV types can cause warts while others may cause a subclinical infection resulting in precancerous warts. Some strains cause genital warts and some cutaneous( skin) manifestations. All cases of genital warts are sexually transmitted. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn Valtrex is more convenient - usually a once a day dose - and though a generic is available now, it is generally more expensive then acyclovir. Acyclovir is inexpensive, but is a twice a day dose. For some, convenience is more important, and for others, cost is. No right or wrong answer - up to you. Also make sure that you don't have another infection, like yeast or bacterial vaginosis, that is causing you to have more outbreaks. Secondary infections can wreak havoc on herpes.
Avatar f tn if u have visible warts then ur partner can get them!the doctors state that it takes 6-9 mos.eve after warts removed for one not 2 b contagious to partner!Go read on HPV warts in the Experts forum-std's.
Avatar f tn Besides, he is sexually active and its pointless. It takes 3-12 months past a sex act for genital warts to appear. So if you had sex with your BF during that time, you infected him. Or he infected you and he can't see his warts because they are under the skin. At this point, you two should assume that you share the same strain of this virus., assuming it is HPV. See a dermatologist asap. Ask for one bump to be removed and biopsied so you learn the strain and confirm that it is HPV.
