I was given an IVof NS and acyclovir(prophylaxis accdg to my doctor) for 3 days every 8 hours. My fever subsided and totally gone, and headache started. Tylenol ES was not effective with this headache and I was prescribed with Hydromorph 3mgSR every 12 hours and then 1 mg breakthrough every 6hours. It helps me for a week. I was discharge and the headche gets worst, i started vomiting once a day, weak and unsteady.
My daughter was diagnosed with Behcet's in 2008. Then in 2009 she contracted herpes (hsv2). She is now having an outbreak of herpes (starting to get under control after 2 rounds of valtrex, back on acyclovir for 2 days) and a flare of Behcet's. Prednisone will make the painful vaginal Behcet's lesions go away but will cause another outbreak of herpes.
Does anyone have any suggestions? She's about to leave for a required college trip.

My doctor was referring to a study wehre Acyclovir slowed disease progression in HIV by reducing viral load. And so he thought Acyclovir might have a direct effect (even if it is low) on HIV. Maybe he thought that by decreasing viral load antybodies would show up later than in the absence of Acyclovir?
Once and awhile I will get a migraine often accompanied with with a scalp breakout and I stop taking the Acyclovir and lysine until the pain goes away. Then I resume my acyclovir and lysine. I now rarely have any problems. But I always have to go a week once and a while without my Acyclovir and Lysine. Is the herpes virus simply one of my triggers or is the herpes virus the root cause off all my migraines, I don't know. The pain and breakouts are always hemispheric in nature.
My first OB got burning sensation on my genital area including the scrotum for over 1 month but with no sores, until I got acyclovir 400mg 2 times a day and the symptoms subsided after 1 week. But as it finished my mouth had an OB,burning tingling mouth but no sores other than just under the skin, then itchy nose, then itching and burning eyes, once one sensation subsides the other would start all while taking acyclovir.
t had one since being pregnant but have had tons since I was little. I would dissolve a tylenol in alcohol and make a paste to put on at night (not pretty) but I swear it helps with the swelling it hurts when you put it on but it helps afterwards with the pain ans throbbing I would have and during the day I use abreva on it. If I start this the first day I get one within 3 days its down and scabed over.
It started with prickly pins and needles for about two days in my left leg and rear...which just seemed itchy and uncomfortable. Now the pins & needles have pretty much subsided (have taken Allegra the last two days) and I have a firey pain in my left thigh (backside) and my left hip is very sore and as well as one of the joints in my right hand. The leg/hip issues have been occurring for two days. The pain is enough to wake me up at night.

I have took acyclovir only for 10 days in October and am suffering a couple of lesions coming up and clearing in few days every now and then. This is companied by random itching occurring in different parts of the body without visible lesions, I also felt some shooting pain for a few seconds (rarely) into my penis.
My throat blisters were confirmed HSV2. It's been exactly one week and my throat and lymph nodes are still very sore. Now I'm trying to control the spread between my legs. I'm taking L-lysine and Acyclovir. Is anything more effective in containing the initial outbreak? I'm in so much pain and discomfort.
My BF hasn't been tested yet. He still doesn't think he gave it to me.
I use acyclovir to and you must know that it doesnt take effect spontaneously especially the first time your using it. It helps relieve the pain though but might take some time to take effect. Just continue use it and youll see the sore will go away within 3-4 days instead of the usual 7-8 days they take to go away.
s more about your genes as to how often you get recurrences than anything you are doing as far as diet, stress reduction and exercise. Eating healthy , exercising and keeping stress low are always a good idea but honestly they have little to do with how often you get recurrences :(
no reason to stop eating chocolate!! It won't decrease your ob's and if you are anything like me, you eating chocolate is some days what keeps you from stabbing people....
I am taking L-Lysene as a suppressor and only take the Acyclovir at the first sign of an outbreak. I was taking 1000mg Valtrex at onset and then 500mg twice a day and everything was clear in 3 days. To get the same effectiveness from Acyclovir how much should I be taking daily during out breaks? I have tried 600mg Acyc 3 times a day but it takes 7 days to clear up. Please advise.
correct - he's negative and so are you so no reason to take acyclovir. You don't have any reason to think that you have genital herpes.
I was told I had genital herpes 3 days ago. The outbreak started about 6 days ago. This is the first outbreak and it's extremely painful. The Dr gave me Acyclovir to take for 7 days. How long will it take for it to stop hurting? How long will it take for the Acyclovir to work?
I have been getting outbreaks Quite regularly, I have tried MMS, Hydrogen peroxide and DMSO and oxygenated water, even silver have. Nothing worked and on top of that things were getting worse, more outbreaks. So if you try to respond and convince me to try the things (I mentioned here), please don't waste your time. It appears that all these things that I mentioned and tried, were just aggravating the virus. I have been on acyclovir for about 1 year now. So far no outbreak.
developing weird lesions and bumps few days and weeks after starting acyclovir and it is now more than two months and lesions come and go everywhere in my body, although I have took acyclovir only for 10 days in October. Unlike you, I was never diagnosed with herpes; indeed i was just taking acyclovir hoping to inhibit a potential risk exposure that i was not sure about. My anti herpes antibodies came back all negative last week (both IgG and IgM).
