Acyclovir and sun exposure

Common Questions and Answers about Acyclovir and sun exposure

famvir

Avatar n tn developing weird lesions and bumps few days and weeks after starting acyclovir and it is now more than two months and lesions come and go everywhere in my body, although I have took acyclovir only for 10 days in October. Unlike you, I was never diagnosed with herpes; indeed i was just taking acyclovir hoping to inhibit a potential risk exposure that i was not sure about. My anti herpes antibodies came back all negative last week (both IgG and IgM).
Avatar f tn Many oral herpes outbreak are triggered by sun exposure, and a good sunblock can be very effective, especially when strong sun exposure is expected (summertime at the beach, skiing, etc). Or if your outbreaks are especially frequent, you could consider daily preventive treatment with valacyclovir orally -- but my guess is you'lre not keen on that approach. Anyway, I hope this helps a little bit. Best wishes and good luck.
Avatar n tn Few Lesions (pimple like with red base) come and go everywhere in my body (cheeks, forehead, ear pinna, eyelids, chest, arm, forearm...). I have took acyclovir only for 10 days in October and am suffering a couple of lesions coming up and clearing in few days every now and then. This is companied by random itching occurring in different parts of the body without visible lesions, I also felt some shooting pain for a few seconds (rarely) into my penis.
Avatar f tn I was due three days ago and also have a cold sore. This is a fairly common occurance for me. I use compeed cold sore patches on mine. It seals the sore to avoid contaminating anyone else. And also heals so much faster. I put the patch on clean dry lips. Then use my lip liner and a slick of lipstick as normal. My friends, family and colleagues often can't even tell I have a sore despite my lip being swollen-it usually feels much bigger than it looks due to the throbbing pain.
Avatar m tn I'll try to summarize it as much as possible but I feel it will end up being a long text. I've had lip herpes ever since I was a kid. This year I've had a really hard time with herpes, I've been dealing with it since January: Blisters on and out, but ever since May I've had this really strong outbreak that just won't give up. Now the first thing everyone tells me is that I've got "weak resistance", that my immune defense system isn't working properly.
Avatar m tn Face is red and itchy - maybe from exposure to the sun. I now 4 weeks post possible exposure. Sore throat. Could the pimple on lip be oral herpes or HPV? Could the acyclovir delay an outbreak by a few days or week? I was told to take on day 7-8 post possible exposure and stopped taking it after 6 days when I got the test result back.
Avatar n tn Hi, Are you talking about a malignant nodule in the lung? The exposure from the sun will place you at risk for cancers of the skin. While there are cancers of the skin that would have a tendency to metastasize the lung (melanoma), these would usually have a preliminary finding in the skin.
Avatar m tn mild swelling developed around shaft of penis. Q)Does consumption of acyclovir 5days course supress HIV virus and not reveal the presence of HIV antibody. I fear if i'm infected with HIV? Has enough HIV antibodies not produced yet because i took acyclovir course in the 6th week post exposure?
Avatar n tn It is important to apply sunblock to your lips and face before prolonged exposure to the sun to help prevent cold sores. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I take acyclovir daily to suppress cold sores, which are unsightly and a nuisance, occurring every 2-3 months. The doctor told me to return if the pink rash I described ever returned and he could swab it. The tingling/burning/irritation has continued on-and-off.
Avatar f tn Outbreaks tend to be rather frequent in the beginning. Read up about known triggers and learn to avoid them. Herpes is a virus of opportunity. When it senses a weakened immune system, it pounces. It may help to avoid over exposure to the sun, avoid exhaustion, eat healthy and regularly... don't miss meals, and of course, avoid stress.
Avatar f tn The HIV blood tests are among the most accurate diagnostic tests available, for any medical condition, and test results always overrule exposure history and symptoms. No matter how high risk the exposure (it was very low risk) and no matter your symptoms, your test results show you did not catch HIV. Same for syphilis. Half of all adults have positive blood tests for HSV-1. You did not catch it from the sexual exposures described above.
149675 tn?1416673133 I was on tx. during the katrina nightmare, heat and sun exposure gave me the worst rash and caused a tremendous amount of itching. Stay out of the sun and heat while on tx.
Avatar f tn Last time I went to Mexico I had an outbreak after about 4 days of being in the sun and drinking moderately... I will be going again for the Holidays and would like to avoid that scenario! I get oral outbreaks about twice a year without taking any sort of suppressive medication. I don't want to take acyclovir regularly but would love some advice on how to take it for this 10 day vacation/ doseage etc. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Avatar f tn I then got concerned it could be HIV I got tested for this and sythilis at 5 weeks and 3 days after potential exposure. My anxiety was really bad now. The 4th generation test results came back negative. So here I am 6 weeks in with the same issue in my penis (burning and always needing a wee and very very small red dots inside my shaft. A burning sore throat and discolouration in my skin colour on my penis, like it is sun tanned) Have you got any ideas what this could be.
Avatar m tn I started having very mild genital herpes outbreaks about eight months ago, and for this outbreak (only one small blister) I decided to take acyclovir tablets and acyclovir cream. I have no pain or itching. I have taken it for a day and a half, 200 mg every 4 hours, omitting the nighttime dose. My blister is pretty much gone, and Im wondering, would it be okay to stop taking the acyclovir? I read everywhere that Im supposed to take it for 5 days, but is it for the same reason as antibiotics?
Avatar m tn 5 days, starting 34-60 hours after exposure. And I have been taking Acyclovir for almost 5 days, starting 83 hours post exposure. If I am having symptoms after a suspected primary exposure, such as tingling, but don't see any blisters in 21 days, should I assume I either missed the blisters, or, the tingling is not related to HSV 2? Of course, I could still be infected and showing no other symptoms as 75% don't? Or I could not be infected.
Avatar m tn I am very active outdoors and would hate to have to stay out of the sun. I use sun screens and still I get this condition.
Avatar m tn She told me that she was diagnosed 3-years ago and has been on Acyclovir for 3-years (taking twice daily) and has not had an out-break in those three years since beginning the antiviral. My situation: Just came out of a 5-year monogamous relationship where we always had unprotected sex. Never saw a sign or symptom over that time of having HSV-2 in either of us. Pretty sure I contracted HSV-1 from her via kissing (sore at the corner of the mouth).
