Since then I have had numerous surgeries to correct different problems with my heart. This coming May I need another open heart surgery. I am extremely scared. I know just about what my surgeon and parents have told me about the whole process starting from the day before to a couple months after. If anybody has gone through this surgery around this age, could you please let me know? Maybe what the whole process was like? How you felt pre-surgery? Post-surgery? How much pain?

MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE A LEAKING HEART VALVE. EVEN VERY YOUNG PEOPLE. IT IS OFTEN CALLED A HEART MURMUR. SOMETIMES PEOPLE MAY NEED A NEW VALVE REPLACED WITH SURGERY, AND EVEN IF YOUR MOM'S VALVE WAS LEAKING THAT BADLY, THESE OPERATIONS ARE DONE OFTEN AND ARE VERY SUCCESSFUL.
I do not know a lot about it because I have never really spoken to my parents about it but I know its to do with the aortic valve leaking. I had an operation (open heart) when i was about 1 i think, and about 2 years ago I had the valve ballooned? (not sure if that is correct) to stretch it.

I have also had for the past 2 years or so bad anxiety.
I was diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation this past week. I have had the TEE, and a CT scheduled this week along with a meeting with heart surgeon. Our local surgeons only repair mitral valves with open chest technique. I am interested in the minimally invasive option since I have no other health issues. Is there any reason I should consider the open chest surgery? Seems like the obvious best choice is minimally invasive. Thanks.
With children there is usually two operations, the second operation to account for the growth factor of a child.
After a surgical removal of the sack, they opened it up and saw that it was full of anatomical refuse, like bone fragments and ligaments. With that said, my actual left thumb was crooked, and it has been crooked my whole life. The proximal joint can bend too much with ease, all the way down to my palm, and it's very unstable and wobbly. The distal joint is where the crooked bend is at, and it cant bend enough. There's a sensitive lump of scar tissue where the sack was.
With the enlarged heart and mitral valve regurgitation--I would think that you should be evaluated for a repair of the valve. This can be done robotically, and without open heart surgery in many larger hospital centers. You want to go to a hospital that has surgeons specializing in that type of surgery and where they have done thousands of operations. You could start with your own current cardiologist to get recommendations for a referral elsewhere.
This is something he was caught doing at the age of 7 and was taught about the birds and the bees at that young age unfortunately, since he already learned from the videos I thought it best we clarify to him the actual meaning of it. He was told it's not appropriate to watch them, although it's normal to be curious.

I have moderate to severe mitral valve regurgatation and am seeing a cardiac surgeon today. I'm really scared of surgery. has any one had this done? any advice about finding a surgeon? I have cardiomyopathy with EF of 36%. I also have a implanted defibilator. I have been having episodes of severe chest pain. I was told it is not cardiac related. But it is so bad at times I can not lay flat, or even recline slightly I have to sit straight up.
So my husband, my daughters father and I all sat down and talked to her about it, and we grounded her from her tablet for about a month, we were kind of clueless on how to handle this. My nine year old grandson has started pulling his mic key feeding tube out, he was having 6 x 200mls enrich plus, now he is down to two. He has had 5 open heart operations, at two weeks old he had no oxygen for 9 minutes after a pump malfunctioned after first open heart surgery. Is there any help available to help Ben to eat, he has had x rays and his gullet is clear. There is no reason why he cant eat, we think it is behavioural.
