Actos vision problems

Common Questions and Answers about Actos vision problems

actos

Avatar f tn I can not really answer if it is the Actos or not but diabetes can cause vision problems and prescription changes especially when first diagnosed. As the sugar levels rise and fall in your cells they rise and fall in ALL of your cells. Including the cells in your eyes and eye muscles. This is what creates the vision changes. As Blood Sugar levels stabilize so will the vision. I am type 1 and when I was diagnosed my sugars were over 800.
1236243 tn?1277680851 ve been on Actos for 9 years and have no problems. Avandia is effectively off the market but ACTOS was not removed. The diabetic educator should know better that suggest someone get off a drug. Suggesting that he/she contact their M.D. was a good idea, but not necessarily required, unless the 'one man in the class' is having noticable adverse side-effects. Rumor monger statements and posts like this one are more scary than it actually should be.
Avatar n tn About the side efects, all have, but Actos can give chest pain (general ill feeling), feeling short of breath, blurred vision. Actos is an oral diabetes medicine that help control blood sugar levels. These are serious allergic signs.
Avatar m tn Recently, after a very long day (about 20 hrs.), I began to notice that my vision was similar to that when I am cross-eyed. After resting sufficiently, I am still having the same problem 2 days later. The best that I can see in the mirror is that 1 eye is not always moving as quickly as the other, but a lazy eye doesn't seem to be realistically caused by fatigue. Otherwise, my eyes do not visually appear to be crossed; but my vision comes off as such.
Avatar n tn Is it best to take actos in the morning or evening? I am on metformin and glipized, as well. Is it best to take actos along with these medications to be more effective? This discussion is related to Best time to take meds.
489891 tn?1209058786 m also on actos plusmet 15/500 just once a day, with a insulin pump ( i take apidra in my pump)... byetta and actos plus met are very similar drugs doing the same thing.. the actos+met will make you gain weight very quickly. Avatar f tn Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc. After being off the actos (I still take amaryl and lisinopril) for 3 months I still feel occasional bloating and pain on left side but now I feel like something stuck in my throat. I don't have any trouble swallowing saliva or food/drinks.
2053416 tn?1330411192 Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

178107 tn?1315947630 Actos made my appetite surge and I gained 20 lbs with combo Actos/Lantus. I went off Actos but still inject 20 units in evening. BS fast is 215. I do not EAT wrong.
Avatar m tn I have diabetes ll. My doctor has given me Actos 30 mg. I have been hearing a lot about this drug and none of it's good, saying long term use causes bladder cancer. My last A1c was 6.1 although now due for another one. I'm not sure the risk involved with this drug is worth the benefits as my sugar is not out of control and my numbers are always under 175. Is Actos a safe drug to use??
Avatar f tn There are several people here who have had expereince with blood sugar problems and treatment. Some used stuff like metformin or even insulin throughout treatment. My expereience was that high blood sugar levels went away while on treatment. That was a result of the red cell killing abilities of the ribavirin.
Avatar m tn x/full very interesting study which confirms why simvastatin, lowering cholesterol drug and actos (diabetes 2 drug), have anti hbv activity lowering hbvdna, cancer risk, all this without problems of resistance and acting on all hbv mutants conclusions: The discovery of the mechanisms by which HBV is controlled by the hepatic metabolic milieu may broaden our understanding of the unique regulation of HBV expression and may also explain the mechanisms by which HBV induces liver pathologies.
Avatar m tn 30am wake up. 2mg Glimepride at 5:00pm before dinner. Take glucose readings just before meds in am and pm. Currently avg 167 in the am and 114 in the pm. Active during the day but little activity during the evening and night. Anyone have information about switching the 30mg Actos + 4mg Glimepride to before dinner and the 2mg Glimepride at wake up in hopes of lowering the morning readings? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I currently take glimepiride 4mg twice daily and actos 15mg once daily. What is the sucess of these two meds. I continue to have high blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn One of the most difficult things he had to deal with early on was blurry vision. Blurry vision is caused by the elevated glucose level in the blood and can take a while for the vision to return to normal. I think in our case, it was between 4-6 weeks before he felt he could see clearly again. We did make a visit to the ophthamologist just to be sure, but were told that it was just going to take time for the vision to stabalize.
21064 tn?1309308733 No high BP, no dizziness, etc. At first I thought it was one of the auras (jagged, flashing lights), but this time my vision was just gone from part of one eye. Maybe I'll give the optometrist or my interest in the morning. But, I'm sure that will result in an appointment...YUK! Do you think they can tell anything since it was a couple days ago? I am a teeny bit concerned about the possibility of a clot.
Avatar n tn When I fell ill i started having foggy vision and floaters, since then 2 years ago I still sufer with foggy vision at times and floaters- they really bother me! Sometimes i have flashes of lights and I am very sensitive to bright lights. I have had my eyes tested and all is ok, I am also over the Postnatal Depression but I still have the visio problems/distrubanaces- can you advise me of what this might be and how I might be able to have my old normal vision back ?
Avatar n tn I would see a neurologist. Be sure to tell them about the blurred vision, shimmering vision and swirling vision. The exam you had by the ophthalmologist does not mean that you do not have a problem, it just may not be in the eye but in the brain or blood supply to the eye. I do not think stress is a cause. I think it important to keep looking.
Avatar f tn VE READ ABOUT VISION PROBLEMS WITH MS, YOUR VISION COULD CLEAR IN A FEW DAYS OR WEEKS.MY ADVICE TO YOU WOULD TO SEE AN OPTHOMOLOGIST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Avatar f tn Anyone else having problems with your vision? Every once in a while I will get what seems like colored spots and sort of foggy vision. Not really blurry, more like static, but it is difficult to see. I am typing this now as my vision is impaired but it is not easy to type this. It will sometimes last for as long as a few hours. Is this normal?
