Crestor is to control cholesterol, have more offen side effects but doses of 10 mg are the lowest , and side effects can be abdominal pain (not chest). So is better to talk to the doctor about this side effects. She is very well medicated but allergic reactions can happen. TALK TO TE DOCTOR is all I can tell.

I've heard a lot of bad things about the drug Actos lately, My Doctor still has me on it, is it as bad as I'm hearing?

I am on byetta and actoplus met which is metformin plus other stuff. just recently my doctor is trying me on topamax for the side affect of losing weight. He said in male diabetics it has been shown to help lose weight. I have been doing a lot of reading on this drug and was trying to see if anyone else out there has diabetes that has tried this drug and how it has helped them.

I know chronic constipation is a problem you want relief from, but consistently high blood sugars can have longterm effects. Another option would be for your doctor to consider putting you on diabetes meds.

Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

I took Actos and within a week started having stomach and left side pains. I stopped actos and 75% of the symptoms are gone but I did see my doctor who ordered a CT scan which was normal. My labs have all been normal except I did show 21% atypical lymphs. Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc.

Are there any diabetics taking treatment? One of side effects is elevated blood sugar . Can someone help!

Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.

When I took Verapamil (a CCB), the side effects were so terrible that within 5 days I ended up in ER. They stopped the med. Now I take Diltiazem (also a CCB) and it's not nearly so bad. The first couple weeks I had some dizziness and whopper headaches. Now I'm left with a bit of brain fog and fatigue; I don't have the pep I had before but it does help the tachycardia and chest pain.

30am wake up. 2mg Glimepride at 5:00pm before dinner. Take glucose readings just before meds in am and pm. Currently avg 167 in the am and 114 in the pm. Active during the day but little activity during the evening and night. Anyone have information about switching the 30mg Actos + 4mg Glimepride to before dinner and the 2mg Glimepride at wake up in hopes of lowering the morning readings? Thank you.

I took Amiodarone for 9 months for SVTs. I stopped the drug because of the nasty side effects. The skipped beats were gone by then and haven't returned since.

Research validated that I was experiencing several of the side effects of that medication. My doctor told me that just about all of the patients she put on Actos experienced very negative effects. (of course my question was - WHY would you continue to prescribe)? Could be a combo of things going on with the meds!

I have diabetes ll. My doctor has given me Actos 30 mg. I have been hearing a lot about this drug and none of it's good, saying long term use causes bladder cancer. My last A1c was 6.1 although now due for another one. I'm not sure the risk involved with this drug is worth the benefits as my sugar is not out of control and my numbers are always under 175. Is Actos a safe drug to use??

Actos made my appetite surge and I gained 20 lbs with combo Actos/Lantus. I went off Actos but still inject 20 units in evening. BS fast is 215. I do not EAT wrong.

hi everyone just a wee quick question on people taking metformin,iv been taking it for over 6 months now and i still find that am getting side effects such as nausea and upset tummy,especially as soon as i eat somethin,does it get any easier the longer your on it,sometimes id rather not take it but were ttc, and from what iv read it has helped loads of people lose weight and helped people to conceieve, thanks ladies if u have time to reply.

avantia should not be used to to severe sides effects but actos should be safe engouh, in any case i suggest the use of sim with blood checks every month but not antidiabetes

It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.

I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.

Im not vomiting any more but still am nausious. Its been a month since then. Can the side effects last this long or is there another reason for the nausea?
