I can not really answer if it is the Actos or not but diabetes can cause vision problems and prescription changes especially when first diagnosed. As the sugar levels rise and fall in your cells they rise and fall in ALL of your cells. Including the cells in your eyes and eye muscles. This is what creates the vision changes. As Blood Sugar levels stabilize so will the vision. I am type 1 and when I was diagnosed my sugars were over 800.

ve been on Actos for 9 years and have no problems. Avandia is effectively off the market but ACTOS was not removed. The diabetic educator should know better that suggest someone get off a drug. Suggesting that he/she contact their M.D. was a good idea, but not necessarily required, unless the 'one man in the class' is having noticable adverse side-effects. Rumor monger statements and posts like this one are more scary than it actually should be.

My question is y are you taking byetta and actos+met... and I'm on topamx, but for seizures... I'm also on actos plusmet 15/500 just once a day, with a insulin pump ( i take apidra in my pump)... byetta and actos plus met are very similar drugs doing the same thing.. the actos+met will make you gain weight very quickly. How many shots of byetta are you taking a day a long with the actos plus met? and what dose of actos are you taking and why...

My question now is because I currently am taking medication because I am a diabetic and take metformin and actos and also take lisinopril and cardizem for my blood pressure. I am terrified of the dentist and am worried that I am going to feel the procedure because maybe I cant get alot of novicane because of my meds?? Any suggestions? The dentist told me I will not feel a thing. I just cant wait to get this all over with.

m active during the day and have little activity after dinner and while sleeping, is it possible that taking the Actos and 4mg Glimepride BEFORE dinner and the 2mg Glimepride in the morning could lower the morning readings?

So your taking insulin (Knowing what kind of insulin is just as important as knowing a how much) AND Actos? Usually when a person goes on Insulin they drop the actos.

Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc. After being off the actos (I still take amaryl and lisinopril) for 3 months I still feel occasional bloating and pain on left side but now I feel like something stuck in my throat. I don't have any trouble swallowing saliva or food/drinks.

I take my bolld sugars of a morning fasting and they are like 167-191, I take 1000 mg of janumet and 18 units of lantus before bed, of a morning I take 20 Units of lantus, 45 mg actos why am I having problems regulating my blood sugars, I also take 7 units of novalog after every meal??? Do you have any other sugustions??

I know recent warnings on pancreatitus, but this may be something they should try with me. I cannot take metformin. Actos made my appetite surge and I gained 20 lbs with combo Actos/Lantus. I went off Actos but still inject 20 units in evening. BS fast is 215. I do not EAT wrong.

my husband (60) has Type II diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol which are being managed very well by Lipitor, Lisenpril, Actos and Metformin. It was already out just got a cavity on the side which caused a bad infection, They just numbed me up and pulled it out.

I've had no issues in over two years, only two minor cavities which came from eating my favorite taffy candy. I've heard that opiates can decrease the production of saliva and that's what can potentially lead to dental problems. I brush, floss and drink fluoridated water so I haven't had many problems. However dental issues can be related to genetics and diet as well, so it'd be hard to tell what it came from unless everything else remained the same.

I have recently noticed that I have diabetes , I'm 40+ years old , I measured my sugar level at home and it ranges from 270 -370 when I'm fast ( 8-12 hours without eating and drinking) and when I after eating it also ranges from 250-270 . I went to the doctor to make full body analysis for diabetes and the blood sugar level was 290 , he prescribed me two tablets / day of Glucophage 1000mg and one tablet / day of ACTOS 30mg.

I am curious to see how many people are having dental issues from Lyme?. I am, and it getting worse. I was up all last night from the pain. However I have heard of folks having to get their root canals pulled out because the spirochetes get in there. It's another area they love. Even getting the tooth pulled and getting implants doesn't work for everyone. I am thinking of just pulling mine. Frustrating as the whole disease is!

I have had several root canals and all have failed- except one. I had two bridges break off. I wanted to get implants but read that it's not advisable for Lyme patients. You have to find an expert in Lyme. They might use Igenex Labs, not the local Quest labs, etc. They are a better lab for diagnosing lyme. Your pcp probably won't be much help. For some reason, almost twelve years after I went through this, doctors are still not as educated as they should be.

I went for a cleaning appt , when they did x-rays the tooth deteriated in the gumline and bone .An oral surgeon extracted the tooth and did a bone graph due to bone loss. I was never givien antibiotics. After a wk I still had swelling in my face and the site was oozing pus. It was the weekend I had antibiotics of my husbands (enough for 3 days)I was sure this was an infection.I made an appt w/the oral surgeon . My jaw felt dislocated I couldnt chew and could barely open my mouth.
