My sister's doctor says he can't perscribe Actiq for her any longer because she doesn't have "active" cancer. She gets severe attackes in her throat (especially when she tries to eat) because of radiation treatment. Is there any truth to what her doctor says?
Well, I was seriously injured in Iraq after an IED attack. By all means I should be dead and many days I often wished I were. But I noticed that these are only the days when I am close to being out of my medicine, Actiq or fentanyl lolli-pops! They were a God send at first but over 5 years later, more than 50 surgeries to replace my urinary tract and my "man plumbing". I have had a supra pubic cath, a couple of urinary stints in the ureter and I could go on and on.
Dr is uncomfortable with the abstral dose and wants to increase the fentanyl patch to 75micg which I am not keen to do . Also Dr is uncomfortable that I am now recovering from cancer and abstral is liscened for cancer pain.
Went back to Dr and am going to taper down abstral have gone down from 500micg to 400micg in last two weeks 8 times a day to 6 times a day and will try 5 times a day next week. Also contacted substance abuse team for support.
Flonase...isn't that addictive?? Just use a netti pot. I think there are low dose zinc lozenges and supplements. I'd get a 2nd opinion r research more, but imho & recent experience: sore throat came on and went away on its own. So how about just trying a little extra water and orange juice, or squeeze fresh lemon into warm or hot water? Would you give your baby flonase for stuffy nose? If not, don't use it for yourself either. Think about the fact that you can have a baby...
i weened myself off oxycontin in 03 without much withdrawl, but my dr. then placed me on 400 mcg actiq 5 times a day and 30 mg kadian once daily. the kadian never seemed like the problem, i could take it or not, but i could not go without the actiq.i always ran out b4 appt time and so forth. i realized i had a problem so i began to detox myself, and my dental bills were racking up from sucking lolipops all day. my dr. @ my clinic was and is a wonderful dr.
m especially happy to hear that you have switched to the lower dose of gum. Seems many have a problem giving it up so keep up the good work and keep the progress going!
I was a nurse for years. I have been on opana and actiq for a few years now. I have passed every test for 3 years on my bi-monthly urine screen. All of a sudden I am showing positive for oxycontin and I have NEVER taken this med.
Now I know that actiq,opana,stadol,and oxycontin are synthentic oipioids. Now I have taken a blood test for oxycontin only to make sure this is negative and a true false positive because I do not take this pain med.

I have been using commit lozenges since February 2. 2008. I am wondering if they have any negative side effects, anyone know, I am having some health issues (sore throat, flu like smptoms, and skin conditions). Oh yeah, I use about 6 - 8 per day.
Hi have done a taper programme for Actiq now down to 4 a day but bad cravings and withdrawal daily so I am going to stop them now. Has anyone been through this already and got any ideas for me to follow to make it easier. Its the craving that are the worst.
Once I've done this the patch is next any ideas there too please?

I am on prescription lozenges and I also have suppositories from the pharmacy. I have only used the suppositories a couple of times this cycle but I am trying to take the lozenges twice a day. ALso, I had to give myself a high dose of some injection, I think it was HCG.. supposed to mimic pregnancy to help with implantation. I am thinking this is what is causing the sore tatas, and I am just feeling wierd in general.
However, there are a few patients with chronic non-cancer pain that have been prescribed Actiq (the fentanyl lolipops) or Fentora if and only if all other treatments failed and they are experiencing intractable pain, also known as suicide pain.
However, the new doctor is not registered with TIRF REMS to be able to prescribe Actiq that I have been taking for 9 years. I am post stage 3 breast cancer, double mastectomy, peripheral neuropathy and lymphedema to name a few of my issues not to mention I have tried every opiod on the market and I'm also opiod tolerant. He stated that he is not willing to register and that I need to find a new Doctor who is.
I quit smoking cigarettes 12/13/07 by using Commit Lozenges. However, I am still using them, very much addicted to same. A week or two after starting the Commit Lozenges, I became depressed and still am. I do not want to take prescription antidepressants. Have tried many natural things but they haven't done anything for me. I have lived with this depression almost 2 yrs., am so sick of the Commit Lozenges but am afraid to give them up as I don't know what withdrawal will do.
I had horrible all day sickness too. I took a higher dose last night to jump start it. Its noo where as bad. Ask ur dr how much u should take. I have no dr so i took 100mg yesterday when i startes it and after that 25mg 3 times a day.
Hi I have stopped actiq/abstral now day 17 and tapered a 50 patch down to 12mcg/hr and will not replace patch after 3 days. Any suggestions on how to cope. Withdrawals not too bad so far but still have cravings.
I have a sore throat and my symptoms keep worsening. I am also on Effexor XR and I know I can't take nurofen cold n flu or aspirin... I have some sore throat lozenges at home which have dequalinium chloride as the active ingredient along with ascorbic acid. I have tried searching the internet for possible interactions but I can't find anything in regards to that. Is there something about it I should be worried about?
If so, what alternatives would you suggest?
Have been on pain meds for 7 years. Have weaned off all my meds. by myself, this year, excluding Actiq 400. Can I go cold turkey? What is the best way to do this? If I go cold turkey, what kind of side effects can I expect? I do work full time. Am not addicted to these, just want to live without pain meds. Is the pain still there, absolutey. What will I do, haven't gotten there yet. Just know, this is not the life I want any longer.
Anyone have to take the progesterone lozenges for low progesterone??? I had a m/c in November. This time I found out I was pregnant early and Dr did a progesterone level and I was low. Have to take lozenges 100mg twice a day. Anyone else have this issue??
