My 23 year old daughter was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis several years ago. One of the symptoms she developed was cystic acne, which we were told can be caused by the colitis. She's presently on Liadyl and her ulcerative colitis is under control but the cystic acne will not go away. She goes to the dermatologist constantly for injections, but the cysts just go down for a day and come right back up again. The dermatologist has given her a few prescriptions but nothing helps at all.

Does anyone know about the scarring after-effects of accutane? I've read several reports of scarring left after it's use. I have mild, maybe slightly moderate acne. I get keloids on other parts of my body, but thankfully not my face. I still get abnormal facial scarring though.
I have also tried to completely fix my diet through drinking detox water, avoiding fatty acids and eating healthy. My acne has become resistant to treatment and isn't improving and I am worried about the scars.
The treatment includes isotretinion, topical clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide and retinoids. I do not apply any sort of makeup on my skin and try to keep it clean.

i was given this monocyline Hcl 100mg with cream which has this oleanolic acid formula.is this cream for acne scars or acne?or for both?i have been using both tablet and cream for 20 days.i didn't see much of the change in fadeness of scars or maybe it takes time.please let me know what is this cream exactly for.

Benzoyl peroxide is effective for active acne lesions.Since now you are left only with scars which are a result of scratching, so they are post inflammatory hyperpigmentation scars.The treatment is the same as advised.

Anyone else have cystic acne? Im a little over 8 weeks and ftm. Im 35 yo and always had acne in the past. Not fun and hoping it doesn't get worse.
Recently I received cortisone shots (5MG) in about 6 areas of my face that had hard swelling (not Acne). In the past, I have received the same treatment a few times, in different areas, but unfortunately this time I noticed major indentations in every area injected (different Dr. then previously used). I've heard this will come back with time (weeks/months) but want to be sure the body re-produces collagen in this area naturally, especially since this was not an acne induced indentation.
I had terribe acne rosacea for about 5 years. Homeopathy and supplements have basically cleared it up. I have beautiful skin now. ;)
I think gut health is highly significant. Like the others I'd recommend probiotics, zinc is good too, evening primrose oil is another worth trying. Find a practitioner to guide you and be prepared for it to take time and to make changes to your diet.
