ammonia

Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?

598816 tn?1219542566 I guess I have adverse reactions to ammonia products and pretty much any household cleaner with chemicals in it. Toxic mold can also create problems. My sister had recurring bronchitis and ear infections, as well did her 2 kids, several years ago when she rented a house that had a mold issue in their basement (they got out of it and immeddiately stopped having colds, infections, etc.). Another thing that I have heard that can cause problems is high CO (carbon monoxide) levels.
Avatar f tn Watch windex if u clean the windows i read last week on the bottle that it has ammonia in it, idk if its safe to be around ammonia but i didnt wanna take the chance because of how strong it is so i bought some ammonia free!
Avatar f tn I heard it was the ammonia in windex so as long as u get the ammonia free u should be ok but id talk to my dr first
Avatar f tn I worked as a house cleaner in the beginning of my pregnancy and the Dr told me not to use the works toilet bowl cleaner, the degreaser we used, or anything with ammonia, like windex and stuff. I like fabuloso its baby friendly, and magic erasers.
1694467 tn?1306349372 The disposable bag in vacuum cleaner should then be tightly closed and thrown or burnt if possible. All stuff toys, pillows and other such items which cannot be washed, should be closed tightly into a plastic bag with no scope of air going inside. Keep this way for 3-4 days and then, place in sun for a few hours and reuse. Wash all clothes you have worn and linen in disinfectant water and soap, at high temperature. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn I used enfamil, but I receive WIC so they played for ALL of it. the only brands they offer as far I know are enfamil and simalac. So if you're in the US I highly recommend going through WIC bc formula ids very expensive. And they even provide the cereal and baby food and juice and whatnot when the time comes. WIC is awesome!!! As far as bottles, I like the glass kind and always used evenflo. With the glass ones you know there's no worries of bpa or any harsh chemicals from the plastic.
9310208 tn?1410859285 I use dishsoap on counters, vinegar water and dshsoap mixture on floors, water alone on mirrors, green or natural toilet bowl cleaner that has low odor, and antibacterial cleaning wipes that I wear gloves with in the bathroom that don't smell too strong. Vinegar on counter and cutting board when sanitizing. Vinegar and baking soda paste mixture in oven and let it sit before scrubbing. I never have used many chemicals to clean (except the bathroom). I felt it was still pretty sanitary.
Avatar f tn There is a significant amount of research out there on plastic vs glass. Glass is safer, cleaner and better.
152660 tn?1291755571 I saw an issue with this on "My Cat From Hell" and you have to use a cleaner w/an enzyme in it to get rid of the ammonia, etc, so your cat can't smell the urine any more and continue to want to use the same areas. What also was occurring in this episode was this cat felt she had no area of her own-make sure your cat has her own "territory" w/ her own climbing toys, window look-outs, etc, and adequate litter pans-esp in the offending area.
Avatar n tn I recently worked with an epoxy that I had thought was an MSDS Health rating 2, which means: "Intense or continued exposure could cause temporary incapacitation or possible residual injury unless prompt medical attention is given." The warnings on the package suggest to avoid eye/skin contact, avoid breathing vapors and to work in "adequate ventilation" (note that no one ever explains what this means).
Avatar f tn Glass cleaner, Bleach, Degreaser, and more. What kind of chemicals should I be more careful with at work??? Which ones can hurt my baby girl???
Avatar f tn I had my boyfriend wrap an ace bandage around me and just had to keep changing nursing pads and wore tight sports bras and ice packs!!
Avatar f tn They just suggest you use a non ammonia formula and be in a well ventilated area. The smell may cause you to become sick. Also as Tiffany stated....it could come out a shade different due to hormones (best to do in second trimester hormones start to level out)!
Avatar f tn Windex Glass Cleaner, other glass cleaners, febreze an other types air fresheners, scented candles (not natural ones like lemon, orange, vanilla. Some like Cedar, Sandalwood bother me, wisteria.. etc.), WD 40 an petroleum; as well as gas smells bother me. Etc etc etc.. Know boy in bubble/John Travolta movie.. Mines nto that bad; btu i cannto be around a lot of public for what they wear on them; or what stores clean with, or have in them. Fertilizers i cannot smell.
Avatar f tn I used several cleaning products including glass cleaner, CLR, Mr.Clean all purpose cleaner, bleach powder and bleach liquid without using gloves for 2 consecutive days. Most of these were pumps and not aerosol sprays. I was continually using them, so would believe I would have had atleast 8 hours of exposure though whiffs, and through the skin. I believe I would have been 9 days pregnant while doing this cleaning. Everywhere I read, it says cleaning products cause birth defects.

Avatar m tn I've got some unconfirmed alcoholic liver disease but I've noticed you guys in the hep-c forum really seem to know your stuff. I'm currently half way through a slow alcohol detox (weaning down/one month) and have developed a funny transient smell in my nose that also comes out in upper body sweat (not underarm/groin). Sometimes it is so strong it even burns my nose a bit, and others can smell it on my breath when I work closely with them.
Avatar m tn Take a HOT bath w/ epsom salts, stay there as long as you can stand it then get out and wrap your legs with the ace bandages, that worked for me better than anything I tried. hope that will help a little. Good luck, Keep posting, you can do this!!!
Avatar f tn When I was done with my cigg I went inside, turned off the flood light and locked the sliding glass door. I went to go in the kitchen and swap the dishes out of the dishwasher. No sooner did my feet hit the dining room floor I heard glass break, and my 30 pound orange cat jumped into the bay window in the dining room. I didn't think anything of it, and I went to look at the window to see what it was....we have birds that are stupid enough to fly into our windows lol.
7922758 tn?1396296070 Thanks. What does or is that ammonia stuff.
