Avatar n tn My son has severe acne. He tried antibiotics to no avail. Now his doctor has him on topical accutane and another topical application. He is having severe flare ups and when he applies the accutane it burns. He's fed up with this. Any thoughts? i will call his doctor, of course, but am wondering if you have any ideas.
Avatar m tn It started when i went to the dermatologist for a bit of acne. He prescribed me atleast 5 different topicals (e.g. Clindoxyl gel) My skin didn't react well with benzoyl peroxide so he had me do a test and it came up that there was bacteria growing on my skin so he prescribed the doxycycline. 2 weeks later he tells me it's not bacteria and prescribes me clindasol cream.

Avatar f tn I am currently using clindamycin 1% twice a day as well as benzoyl peroxide 10% in the morning and retin-a .025% before bed. I wash my face twice a day and after I sweat with a salicylic acid wash. I use a clean facial scrub brush to wash my face and help with exfoliation. I change my pillow case every night and never touch my face. I have listed the different medications I have tried in the past at the bottom of this post.
Avatar n tn It has totally messed up my self confidence and has made me totally insecure.I have tried several acne therapies including OTC Proactiv, Murad and benzoyl peroxide, as well as perscription benzacline (probably mispelled), minocycline, tetracycline and am now currently on Ziana. Nothing really seems to help and its not easy to apply meds to back acne.
Avatar n tn I had some folliculitis on both thighs, and I applied some benzoyl peroxide on Thursday to help clear it up. On Friday, in the exact areas where I applied the benzoyl peroxide, I now have a rash that has developed. Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to benzoyl peroxide? How long would this type of rash take to go away?
Avatar n tn Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often. Back and shoulder acne are quite difficult to treat compared to acne on other parts of the body.
Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend an acne treatment for those cystic acne bumps that take forever to go away? I'm 46 and did Accutane in my 20s with pretty good results until the last several years. I've had the most success with Pro Active, but my skin got really itchy when I wore mineral powder makeup and I kept ruining towels, pillowcases and shirts. I've also tried Acne Free, Murad and Dermatologic plus prescription cream with no luck.

There are a few anti-acne medications, such as Tetracycline, Salicylic Acid, Tretinon, and Isotrentinoin that either are known to be harmful during pregnancy or have not been fully tested as to their effects on pregnant women.
Avatar f tn Yes it is safe to use the product because only a small amount is absorbed into the skin so it doesn't affect the baby you can also use 5% benzoyl peroxide
Avatar m tn Hello, You can use any benzoyk perocide soaps available in the market, common ones being Jan marini benzoyl peroxide or Topic benzoyl peroxide soap. Other treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar n tn Apply a medicated cream or gel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. This helps is soaking the oil and helps in peeling away the blackheads. If benzoyl peroxide leaves your skin dry, apply an oil-free moisturizer after 10 mins of applying benzoyl peroxide. If the symptoms still persist then pls consult a dermatologist and get cysts ruled out. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.

Avatar n tn I have tiny bumps under the skin that never seem to disappear and can't be "popped". I know you should never pop ur pimples but these have been there for months. It started when i was 20 and for the past three years it's gotten progressively worse. When I started using liquid foundations the dumps increased 10X the amount. Now that i'm using more natural products there are less but they itch and are all over my face.
