Accutane topical gel

Common Questions and Answers about Accutane topical gel

accutane

Avatar n tn You may be prescribed another course of Accutane, or a different oral or topical treatment, sooner than a year after Accutane failure/relapse. You must wait at least 8 weeks between courses of Accutane. Accutane results in failure or relapse when: i)The patient has not taken Accutane at a high enough dose, or not taken it for long enough. The recommended dose is 0.5 to 1mg X kg patients bodyweight per day for 16 to 24 weeks.
Avatar n tn t want to scrub the area, use gentle fragrance free cleanser and gently wash the area. Scrubbing makes it worse. Here we have Accutane, clinidamycin topical, and other drugs. I also used neutorgena face wash then at bed salicylic acid gel or topical. You can use OXY 5 or 10 cream. I'm sure others will have plenty more to help you with. You can order on line except Accutane and Clindamycin require a prescription. There are some other new products I haven't tried.
Avatar m tn I got scars like Brad Pitt even though I am healthy, fit, active, lean, low body fat, full abs 6pack. It saddens me to go through this. Basically, I lost family in a accident about a year ago. No doctors will prescribe accutane for me. I tried organics, diets name it, Atkins, low gymcemic, no bread, no dairy or sugar or flour, low glycemic, anti inflammatory, even a natural pathic doctor priced at $125/hr. Little to no help. Temporary relief.
Avatar n tn Now his doctor has him on topical accutane and another topical application. He is having severe flare ups and when he applies the accutane it burns. He's fed up with this. Any thoughts? i will call his doctor, of course, but am wondering if you have any ideas.
Avatar m tn Roughly two months ago I used a very potent topical corticosteroid, Clobetasol Proprionate, for around three weeks. Shortly after this I began breaking out excessively (I was on accutane earlier this year, so I was used to being clear). Ever since then I have not stopped breaking out on my face. The steroid was applied to my lower stomach area, and behind my arms. I have since researched the ointment, and it states that acne is a side effect.
Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend an acne treatment for those cystic acne bumps that take forever to go away? I'm 46 and did Accutane in my 20s with pretty good results until the last several years. I've had the most success with Pro Active, but my skin got really itchy when I wore mineral powder makeup and I kept ruining towels, pillowcases and shirts. I've also tried Acne Free, Murad and Dermatologic plus prescription cream with no luck.
546892 tn?1214525401 Isotretinoin is a type of medication used to treat severe acne (nodlo cystic or nodular acne) which have failed to respond to other treatments including any type of oral antibiotics and topical application creams. Accutane is strong medicine for acne cure but can have serious side effects.
Avatar n tn It got so bad that after trying all the usual topical medications and a few oral broad-spectrums, I started accutane. I took it for over 1 year. It worked, but about 2 years later the acne returned slowly. Today, it is as bad as it ever was, but now I have acne, severe dry skin patches, premature wrinkles, and age spots. I wish I had skipped the synthetic vitamin A and just used fish oil and other supplements.
Avatar f tn Accutane has many potential side effects but this must be balanced against the fact that it provides the best chance of long term remission from acne. However, as your son may outgrow his tendancy for acne as adolesence passes, I agree this should be considered only if his acne continues after other treatments have been fully explored. Which antibiotic and creams has he tried? Erythromycin has a high resistance rate and oxytetracycline is usually preferable.
Avatar n tn In 25 years of prescribing Accutane, I have never seen scalp folliculitis develop. On the other hand, I have seen plenty of peope with scalp folliculitis who have never taken Accutane. In short, I regard the two conditions as separate and unrelated. Acne itself does not affect the scalp. In my experience, many cases of scalp folliculitis are stress-related. Unless a culture actually shows staph germs, I would be skeptical that these bacteria are playing any role here.
Avatar f tn Hello, Treatment for such acne like bumps includes topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist. Till then follow the treatment that has been prescribed to you and use Accutane only under medical guidance.
Avatar n tn 17 year old daughter having stomach issues, just got a positive test for celiac, has bad acne, derm wants to put her on accutane. I am worried about the accutane and her stomach. Not sure celiac is only cause of stomach aches. Also birth control pill used to control acne, then she went off and it came back worse than ever. She is back on the pill for almost 3 months and it is not working. Why?
Avatar m tn Have had melasma for the past couple of years. Just started accutane 40 mg and wondering if there's anything I can use to help treat a stubborn spot on my forehead. Seems like its getting darker since I have started the pills. Already use a physical spf50 cream everyday. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
Avatar n tn Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. If the symptoms persist then a dermatologist’s consultation is the best. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.

Avatar n tn I have tried topical ointments, my doc suggested accutane, (the dermatologist) suggested it right off the bat... I'm aware of the risks of accutane, and it is a strong treatment which I have declined... I really feel like this has something to do with a gland of some sort, b/c I seem to be really internally overheated for no reason..Anyone else dealing with this? It's really frustrating..
1155893 tn?1263018015 Hey, I finished my accutane course like 5 months ago and my skin has been really clear but recently I've been breaking out some and would like to try out proactiv. Do you think this would be safe? Do you even think proactive works?
Avatar n tn My dermatologist decided it was time to give accutane a try. I did a 7 month course and reached the target cumulative dose of 120 mg/kg. I did not have much of an initial breakout, was pretty much clear for months 3 to 6. Near the end of my course I started to get a few zits. It has now been three weeks post-accutane, and I am starting to get more and more whiteheads. Not the big inflamed whiteheads I used to get but it looks like things are returning.
1840891 tn?1431547793 I would love to hear from anyone who can offer some info such as how most hepatologists feel about the use of this gel (or any other topical NSAID) in cirrhotics. I just have this lingering doubt that my hepatologist tends to be a little bit too relaxed about some things – it does seem to take quite a lot to actually alarm him. Thanks!
Avatar n tn You may be considered for Accutane if you have experienced relapse or failure after trying 2 different oral antibiotics, topical treatments and an anti-androgen contraceptive pill (female patients only). Accutane must be taken for at least 16 weeks and provides a long term remission from acne in 80% of cases. It has many potential side effects but this must be balanced against the fact it can help people with severe nodular or cystic acne. Hope this is helpful, Eloise.
Avatar n tn Now it is back and just as bad as it was prior to Accutane. My dermatologist said that typically for someone with my condition Accutane isn't prescribed but since it worked before she thinks it would work again. I am not sold on the idea of taking Accutane as it's side effects are numerous and I am trying to have a baby. I would like to figure out what is causing this and how to get rid of it once and for all. Any advice would be appreciated!
