They just keep prescribing anti biotics and also saw a dermotologist who put me on 40mg accutane a day. neither help.
They only appear on jaw line, chin and lower area of the cheek. They appear over 24-48 hours and then go red without forming a head like a boil would. 48 hours onwards they slowly go down and the red skin flakes off once dead. After about a 7-10 days it just remains as a hard lump under the skin with no redness and this lasts for a couple further weeks.
In 25 years of prescribing Accutane, I have never seen scalp folliculitis develop. On the other hand, I have seen plenty of peope with scalp folliculitis who have never taken Accutane. In short, I regard the two conditions as separate and unrelated. Acne itself does not affect the scalp. In my experience, many cases of scalp folliculitis are stress-related. Unless a culture actually shows staph germs, I would be skeptical that these bacteria are playing any role here.

I just started my sixth (and final) month of Accutane (60 mg/day). Per the information in the iPledge booklet, I should not have "cosmetic procedures" until I've been off of the medication for six months since the medication interferes with the skin's ability to heal which could cause keloid scarring. Take accutane, i'm 17 now and went on it when I was 16 and it worked wonders and keeps tje acne away, I had moderate acne and oily skin too....I play Major Junior hockey and it didn't affect my play in a negative bodily way, it boosted my confidence if anything!......I did a 4 month treatment of it on a lower dose so I would reccommend that, higher doses are for sever cases like grade 4 or between 3 and 4.....
I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
Have had melasma for the past couple of years. Just started accutane 40 mg and wondering if there's anything I can use to help treat a stubborn spot on my forehead. Seems like its getting darker since I have started the pills. Already use a physical spf50 cream everyday. Any suggestions?

My daughter has been on Accutane for 2 months. While her acne is mild, we put her on this due to my hx of cystic acne at age 22 which was completely responsive to accutane. My question is , she has not seen much change . She is still breaking out, and states zits are larger than in past, but do reslve more quickly She was on accutane once in past with immediate response in first month. Dr just increased dosage. Hi, I have recently found out I am pregnant, I was taking accutane last year from january until june and have not taken it since. I am a bit worried about the affects of taking accutane since finding out i am pregnant. At the time of taking it I had to use 2 types of contraception and have a pregnancy test every time I was given my next prescription. I was told to continue using 2 types of contracption 1 month after stopping taking accutane.

I was on Accutane for nearly 8 months instead of the standard 5 month treatment. During the last 2-3 months of treatment, I began telling my doctor about pain in my stomach. He said it wasn't a problem and would resolve when I was done taking the drug. Well, I have been off of Accutane nearly a year, and am still having digestive problems, which I've never had before. I have had PERFECT digestion my whole life until this.

She was taking the acne medicine Accutane until the last week of April(Accutane causes severe birth defects and conception was not intended,) Everything we have read says that the medicine is out of your system within 7-10 days but that you should wait at least one month before trying to conceive.

Is anyone aware of a linkage between isotretonoin (Accutane), used for treating cystic acne, and Sjogren's, which is linked to the epithelial cells? At 21, when Accutane first appeared, doses were higher than current (I remember my skin bleeding when scratching lightly with a fingernail). I am now 51, and have had Reynaud's for a number of years, and was just diagnosed with Sjogren's. Just curious if anyone has seen this?
