I started on 20 mg a day month 1, 40 mg month 2, and 60 mg months 3 and 4. 3 weeks ago I had my 1st eye infection of my entire life in my right eye so I went to an opthamalogist and he told me to stop taking the accutane for a week (which is what he says caused the infection) and put me on doxyclince hyclate 100mg twice a day and eurithromyocin gel to put on my eyelid that knocked the infection out.
I have been on Accutane ( Claravis) on 40 mg for a month, I was upped to 60 mg but just went back down do to side effects. My vision has gotten blurry in the distance and I recently visited my optometrist and told him this and that I was on the drug. He took a paper with all the visual side effects of Accutane and checked me for everything even threw in a glaucoma exam and tear producing test and said everything was normal.
Pending the results of my initial blood test, I will be starting Accutane shortly. My doctor mentioned she was going to start me on at 40 mg, which she'll then raise to 60-80 mg. I am very small (about 90 lbs, under 5 ft tall) and this seems like a pretty high dose, based on the limited research I have done on my own.
As Accutane-worthy acne goes, mine isn't very severe (cystic, but just in a few spots).
Hi, I'm on accutane. This is my third time on it. I take 40 mg alternating 80 mg every other day. I've been taking it for 4 months now. After taking it for a month and a half I've been getting rashes on my face.. It is fleshed colored and doesn't itch. In the beginning I would use a steroid cream and it would go away very quickly but not anymore. I use cetaphil cream on my face twice daily. I have not changed and products that I use on my face, nor laundry detergent.
She is currently on Bactrim and due to go back to Dermatologist tomorrow with suggestion of starting Accutane. She woke up with this acne in mid-December and began taking Vyvanse a few weeks before. Could there be any correlation? I don't want to jump into Accutane if Vyvanse could be causing it but she is so self-conscious.
25 first 6months, 0.5 mg for one year and 1 mg for 1 year till today), In october 2016 my derm put me on accutane 10 mg and minoxiline(100mg) for treating my mild acne, I had been drinking heavily for 5 days before starting my accutane course, 10 days into the course, I started to have Gyno(Unilateral, right breast with a movable tender lump), I dropped accutane and minoxiline and also propecia after 23 days.

But I'm doubting because , in Algiers in summer sometimes Humidity is around 60% to 70% (25 to 30Deg C), I feel uncomfortable, but with Accutane Ok (no new pimples). But in a Congo the climate is in all the year under min. 80% of relative humidity, may be very difficult.
Other necessary precautions are to avoid exposure to UV rays, avoid too much alcohol, and not to take tetracycline antibiotics whilst on Accutane or for 5 weeks afterwards. Female Accutane patients must use two forms of contraception whilst on Accutane and for 5 weeks afterwards. Male patients do not need to abstain from unprotected sex but must not donate blood in case it is given to a pregnant women.
SAME exact problem here. I have been on accutane for the past two and half months. In the first month, 80 mg/day, in the second I took 100 mg/day, and now in the past two weeks 120 mg/day. I started having this problem a week ago.
The concern now is whether or not I should stop taking accutane. I'd hate to stop it short because I am seeing amazing progress. If I stop taking accutane, will the problem go away? Does anyone have experience to be able to help me with this one?
Take accutane, i'm 17 now and went on it when I was 16 and it worked wonders and keeps tje acne away, I had moderate acne and oily skin too....I play Major Junior hockey and it didn't affect my play in a negative bodily way, it boosted my confidence if anything!......I did a 4 month treatment of it on a lower dose so I would reccommend that, higher doses are for sever cases like grade 4 or between 3 and 4.....
ve just been recently prescribed by my dermatologist Isotretinoin (accutane) and am on my 4th day of treatment. After doing extensive research on how accutane affects growth, it really concerns me as I'm currently only 16 years and 8 months old and hence am still in the growing stage of my life. Hi, I had been on accutane for almost two months (60 mg a day). In the first month I had some headaches and dizziness but it wasn't a big deal. But, a couple weeks into the second month I started having really, really awful pounding pressuring headaches with really bad eye pain and dizziness. It hurt to move my eyes around and I had some difficulty focusing and changing my focus.
My dermatologist decided it was time to give accutane a try. I did a 7 month course and reached the target cumulative dose of 120 mg/kg. I did not have much of an initial breakout, was pretty much clear for months 3 to 6. Near the end of my course I started to get a few zits.
It has now been three weeks post-accutane, and I am starting to get more and more whiteheads. Not the big inflamed whiteheads I used to get but it looks like things are returning.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? I just started accutane (Claravis) 40 mg once daily. I took the first pill and a tension headache started about 40 mins later. This just got worse, no response to ibuprofen. I thought okay maybe not the drug and took the next pill. Headache got even worse the next day. I couldn’t even watch tv it was so painful. I contacted my doctor who told me to stop for a few days and start up again.
I just started my sixth (and final) month of Accutane (60 mg/day). Per the information in the iPledge booklet, I should not have "cosmetic procedures" until I've been off of the medication for six months since the medication interferes with the skin's ability to heal which could cause keloid scarring. In my online research, I'm finding that some doctors say 6 months is acceptable, while others say wait a full year (I even came across one or two who said to wait two years).
However my extremely flaky/seemingly dry lips remain. Am I right in thinking that the lips are caused by having taken 40 mg a day of accutane for 5 mths up until April of 09, or could they be a result of my seborrheic dermatitis? I had the flaking on the lips before accutane but i was also using 400 mg a day of doxycycline for 4 yrs. prior to accutane so that could have been causing the dryness?
i was on accutane 40 mg on and off for about a month. ive completely changed. i had depression before taking the accutane, and during treatment it only got worse. i also developed severe anxiety. i cant sleep at night. i have terrifying thoughts about absolutely nothing. i also have panick attacks now. they strike at any time. when i have one i feel like im dying, i feel squirmish, and i feel terrified. my pyschiatrist had originally had me on lexapro but it stopped working.
My 13 year old son started taking Claravis 80 mg per day about a week ago. He had been on antibiotics for 2 years combined with topical prescriptions and also Nicomide. He is a strong competative athlete. He has been complaining of back/hip pain. I am so worried about him being on this medication. There are so many reported side effects with this, I wonder what the percentage of people experience these side effects. Why would his back be hurting.
Ok so i'm very worried right now... i started taking Accutane (10 mg) on October 2, and then i started taking birth control pills on October 9 and then me and my bf had sex twice without a condom and he says he came in me in both times.. it happened in the past few days. and then i read the accutane warnings again and i noticed it says you should take birth control pills a month before going on accutane and of course i didn't do that cause i didn't know i was supposed to do that...
i have been taking minocycline 100 mg to 200 mg a day sometimes and using retin a micro 0.1% gel every night for 2 years.I have been getting alot of acne for the last 2 or 3 months so i went to my see my dermatologist.he said since i been taking minocycline 100 mg daily for 2 years and using the retin a micro 0.1% for 2 years and im still breaking out i should try something new like it may be wearing off....he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....
Is this documented that Accutane does cause premature epiphyseal closure? If so why is this drug being prescribed and why isn't this on the long list of side effects. My son was on this and he has not grown since, or while taking it. He was just past his 14th birthday when he took it. His acne was severe and it is also now back. It did clear up for a short time. He is only 5, 5.

I have been taking accutane for 7 months now. 20 mg first month, 40 next, then 80 which is my current dose. I have a predicted one more month to go(and it has been helping). A few months ago I noticed my hair was getting thinner. I asked my doctor about it and he said he did not know anything about accutane causing hair loss. I have researched it and found that it does. I was just wondering if it is in my case.
Also, for the joint pains associated with Accutane not only do I take 1500 mg. of calcium and magnesium but take extra Vitamin D (2000 mg. daily) for absorption (from a natural source, not ergocalciferol). The joint pains are gone and because of my experiences I am convinced that only synthetic vitamins cause toxicity symptoms in the body. Well, I could go on, but I just wanted to share some of this information because my side effects were intolerable before.
