I am coming off my 2nd course of accutane. The first course I was on 80 mg per day. for about 4 months before the mental side effects made me stop. I was having weird thoughts and could tell I was not myself. The second course lasted about 5 months, same dosage less side effects. IT DID CLEAR MY ACNE, better than any antibiotic or other popular or unpopular treatment. I had tried them all, diets, over-the-counter meds, etc.

There are some effects of accutane on the joints which include joint stiffness, joint pain, muscle aches, decreased blood cells and bone marrow depression. I suggest you to discuss these side effects with your dermatologist before you start with the treatment.

The second time around I developed such severe joint pain that I could not get out of bed. Over ten years later I still am in the same pain. I have been to several doctors...no one can tell me what the cause is or how to stop it. I have been on so many meds over the years trying to help the pain that I couldn't even name them all. All I know is that it all started with accutane use. Any ideas of what could be the source and what direction to go?
m STILL suffering all the symptoms (dry eyes, dry/itchy scalp, joint/bone pain). PLEASE help me! I used to be an athelete. I had to quit all physical activity including my waitressing job because I simply cannot move. A stroll in the park leaves me stiff and aching. What is wrong with me and where to do I go from here? My next derm. appt. is 4 months from now. I used to be flexible but I'm now in excruciating pain 24/7. I'm a 21 yr. old but feel like I'm in a 90 yr.
I am worried, however, about his complaints with joint pain. He recently had x rays and an MRI done on his right knee (which was an issue b4 the accutane) and then got relief for that knee when it was drained of excess fluid. He complains that he feels like an old man, something is always hurting. I took him off the MSM supplement I had been giving him for joint pain, because he felt that it may have contributed to the fluid on his knee.
May I know if you have recovered from ED? I also took Accutane and developed ED after 3 weeks off this drug. I am worried this may be permanent.
I'm currently on day 8 of using Accutane. I'm already experiencing back pain and very dry and cracking lips. Should I be worried?
s great, but for others sometimes things start going down-hill and sometimes this is when side effects decide to emerge that would traditionally emerge during treatment (e.g. joint pain, flushing, redness, rosacea, depression, chronic fatigue, Seb derm, hair loss.. even teeth breaking). I don't mean to scare you but this appears to happen too often (see acne.org).
And there are many other side effects of Accutane mentioned in many comments online and includes joint pain. While this drug may not be the problem, this is a suspect and even more so if symptoms showed up after taking the drug.
My reason for acne was hypothyroidism. Thyroid hormone is needed to convert beta carotene to vitamin A. Accutane is isotretinoin (closely related to vitamin A).
Primary Raynaud's phenomenon is not associated with other diseases.
I am having the exact same problem. Like you, I was constantly wet with a healthy sexual appetite. Accutane has changed this drastically. I have very low sexual desire and absolutely no natural lubrication even with stimulation. Have you had any resolution? I've been off of accutane (sotret) for 2 months and only took a very low dose before stopping treatment after about a month due to joint pain.
I suffered the same fate due to Accutane. At one point the abdominal pain was so bad I thought it was better to end my life than to suffer the excrutiating pain. Fortunately, I researched alternative medicine to find some relief for the bowel pain and inflammation and came across Bromelain. It's an enzyme extracted from pineapple and it has helped me tremendously.
I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
Now, this is not that big deal however, I have never experienced eye pain. Its not excrutiating pain however, it is discomfortable. I have visine and eye drops from previous outings of infection once. The advice was see a doctor. Obviously, the biggest concern is stroke, heart attack and permanent removal of all things in my life like the ability to walk.
I can say, nothing has helped the way accutane has. I got a hair cut and made the mistake of getting my hair texturized.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? I just started accutane (Claravis) 40 mg once daily. I took the first pill and a tension headache started about 40 mins later. This just got worse, no response to ibuprofen. I thought okay maybe not the drug and took the next pill. Headache got even worse the next day. I couldn’t even watch tv it was so painful. I contacted my doctor who told me to stop for a few days and start up again.
I started to notice that the head of my penis was sticking to my underwear. Upon inspection, I noticed the urethra tube was blood red. There is no pain associated with this. Nor, is there any discharge of any kind. Just feels sticky. I assumed it was part of the side-effects of Accutane as even my eyelids feel sticky at times. Therefore, I massaged some Aquaphor onto the head of my penis getting the tip of the tube moist. The redness went away by the next morning.
Anyone here get their Crohn's after taking Accutane for acne ? Apparently an association has been found and some lawsuits are being successful. I got my first symptoms about two months after finishing the drug cycle. Just curious if anyone else experienced this with Accutane ?
