Avatar m tn t know, is that Accutane is a highly toxic chemotherapeutic agent and can permanently change the body in a variety of ways. 624074 tn?1263873807 Chiari is complicated enough to understand, but I wanted to know if anyone knew where I could find information explaning what Chiari Malformation, in particular CM 1 in Spanish is. We are visiting my in-laws this week-end and instead of losing everything in translation, I was hoping to find a pamphlet online or something that was already in Spanish. Anyone have any ideas on where I may be able to find something? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn 3) Although I have no opinion about it, I know some people think this next thing could lead to depression. I took Accutane twice. Once as a sophmore in high school. It went well with no side effects. Freshman year of college, my acne was back and I went on Accutane again. This time, I had several symptoms. The worst probably being extreme hair loss. I couldn't brush my hair because huge clumps would fall out.
Avatar m tn In 2004 i took accutane against my accne. I took a regular cure for 7 months and then stopped. A few months after i stopped i noticed that i looked much MUCH better then i have ever done before, skin color, eyes, hair, body odor, everything changed to normal for me. Then i noticed that i could read articles, watch movies and understand pretty much everything. When i talked to people it was like i saw the words in front of me so i knew what i was going to say all the time.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any suggestions on baby boy names that sound nice in both spanish & english?

Avatar n tn But it is excruciating pain and I’m convinced the accutane caused this even though I haven’t been on it in 2 years. Help.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.
Avatar m tn weight loss ( I was up to 160 right before accutane, lost 20-25 pounds in less than 2 months right after I stopped accutane, and am down to 120 currently) I feel like I have no muscle or fat on me. I'm always hungry but I can't gain a pound.
Avatar n tn I am 20 years old I was using accutane for 6 months, I was supposed to have a small surgery in my pelvis while on the drug but my doctor told me to wait and he explained that no surgery should be performed because the drug does indeed interfere with wound healing in fact he recommended to get the surgery 6 months after I have been off the drug but you should definitely ask her doctor/surgeon about it and get a better opinion ...wish you and your daughter the best.
Avatar m tn I am 19 years old, I have been on Accutane twice. The first time for 7 months (80mg a day) and the second time for 11 months (80mg) a day. Ever since I've taken Accutane I noticed my face is extremely irritable. It gets red, REALLY red, like a tomato for absolutely no reason. I will lean over and my face will be blushed and hot by the time i get up straight. When i go to the gym or even lift something mildly heavy, I get red.
Avatar f tn ve been looking for articles regarding the use of accutane in patients with keloid/hypertrophic scarring, but all I can seem to find are horror stories of people taking accutane and going and having laser treatment/dermabrasion resulting in keloid formation. I would never do that to my skin during such a delicate time! I just want to know what to expect of my keloid prone skin *while taking* accutane. I can't find anything on the subject! My question is...
Avatar m tn Other necessary precautions are to avoid exposure to UV rays, avoid too much alcohol, and not to take tetracycline antibiotics whilst on Accutane or for 5 weeks afterwards. Female Accutane patients must use two forms of contraception whilst on Accutane and for 5 weeks afterwards. Male patients do not need to abstain from unprotected sex but must not donate blood in case it is given to a pregnant women.

546892 tn?1214525401 Before begining treatment with Accutain, an individual should discuss about his condition with the health care provider for the possible accutane benefits and side effects in order to get it clear whether the treatment is right. Accutain is used in the treatment of the severest of acne cases which haven't responded to all other types of acne treatments.
Avatar n tn My dermatologist decided it was time to give accutane a try. I did a 7 month course and reached the target cumulative dose of 120 mg/kg. I did not have much of an initial breakout, was pretty much clear for months 3 to 6. Near the end of my course I started to get a few zits. It has now been three weeks post-accutane, and I am starting to get more and more whiteheads. Not the big inflamed whiteheads I used to get but it looks like things are returning.
Avatar f tn Hi. Accutane increases the risk of liver problems so avoid too much alcohol whilst taking this medicine. Eloise.
Avatar n tn d like to tell them that I did try threading while on accutane (in the first month) and it hurt like hell. Usually threading doesnt hurt for me, but because the skin was so dry (even with tons of moisturizer and what-not) but I think the thread actually ripped my skin off. It was red for days and anything on it (like makeup and soap) would make it sting even more.
Avatar m tn ve just been recently prescribed by my dermatologist Isotretinoin (accutane) and am on my 4th day of treatment. After doing extensive research on how accutane affects growth, it really concerns me as I'm currently only 16 years and 8 months old and hence am still in the growing stage of my life. My dermatologist however has prescribed me a very low dosage of 10mg per day for 7 consecutive days, after which would be switching onto a 30mg PER WEEK dose.
Avatar f tn I am in the same boat...I took accutane for 11 months in 2000, and was recently diagnosed with the mixed version of IBS after a colonoscopy/endo. Not to mention the plethora of tests I had a year ago when my gallbladder "died," and I was having the same IBS symptoms. I'm lucky I don't have Chron's disease, but irritable bowl is still bad enough. :( Taking accutane was the worst decision I think I could have ever made.
Avatar n tn Hi. Accutane works by shrinking the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. They grow back very slowly, by which time the patient has nearly always outgrown their tendency for acne. Accutane can also affect hair, lips, eyes, nose and vagina. Skin can be fragile for up to 6 months after finishing Accutane. However, it is very unusual to still be experiencing vaginal dryness after a year. Have you changed anything else, method of birth control for example?
