accutane

Avatar n tn 05% isotretinoin gel is rarely indicated as a suppressive treatment for widespread disfiguring sebaceous hyperplasia. Oral isotretinoin should be prescribed by a physician who is experienced in oral retinoid therapy and only for patients without contraindications.
Avatar m tn You note that the Differin is for acne vulgaris, is this prescription used for sebaceous hyperplasia and do you think it will remove and prevent more lesions from coming.....thanks.
Avatar m tn I was just diagnosed with Sebaceous Hyperplasia. I have small bumps all over my forehead. My Derm. has started me on Ziana and says if that doesn’t work then I’m looking at a chemical peel for my entire face (to make sure the skin tones match). At the time he told me I had this condition I knew nothing about it so didn’t know what to ask. Now after reading about it, I see that it’s a condition that usually starts when people are in their 50s.
Avatar m tn They may occur anywhere on body but scalp, ears, back, face, and upper arm, are common sites for sebaceous cysts. Blocked sebaceous glands, swollen hair follicles and excessive testosterone production will cause such cysts. Since it is under a mole, hence get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
1011233 tn?1251034154 I got my diagnosis from the dermatologist - "sebaceous gland hyperplasia". It's genetic. He didn't give me any treatment advice. Said that they'll "be there". From what I've read online there's really no way to make them go away for good. So I may just let them be for now unless they start to look very bad cosmetically speaking.
Avatar m tn I am guessing these may be lymph nodes, but I have been able to feel them there for a fairly long time. I use to have sebaceous cysts so I took accutane a few years ago and that cleared up most of my cysts and acne, but I now get cysts on the right side of my neck. I have 2 right now that are probably 3-5cm and movable, but painless. Not sure if these are related to my armpit bumps or not. Is it normal to be able to feel the small bumps under the armpits?
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination it is difficult confirming a diagnosis but it can be sebaceous hyperplasia or epidermal inclusion cysts.Epidermal inclusion cysts are flesh colored ,firm nodules with a central punctum and are usually found on the face of adults.Sevaceous hyperplasis is benign enlargement of the sebaceous glands surrounding a follicle and often with a central dent. I sincerely suggest you to discuss these possibilities with your dermatologist as treatment is diagnosis specific.
Avatar m tn Hello, Sorry eplied toan earlier question first. From the symptoms it can be sebaceous hyperplasia, folliculitis or lichen nitidus. Lichen nitidus is characterized by asymptomatic, flat-topped, skin-colored micropapules. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist. Treatment is diagnosis specific and hence diagnosis needs to be confirmed.
Avatar n tn Yea i have seen that and sebaceous prominence or hyperplasia, looks similar to those.
382218 tn?1341181487 Fortunately, the problem it causes is benign. Over the past few years I've developed three or four very small bumps on my forehead and temples. It was annoying and unusual for me. They were like pimples that just would never go away. I recently started seeing a derm for minor cosmetic concerns and asked about these bumps. Found out it's called sebaceous hyperplasia, a benign lesion caused by damage to the sebaceous glands.
Avatar m tn Hello, Such kind of rash on forehead can be due to irritated hair follicles or sebaceous hyperplasia. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used but use it under a dermatologist’s prescription.
Avatar m tn Hello, They symptoms are symptomatic of Fordyce spots or sebaceous hyperplasia. They are small, painless, raised, pale or white spots or bumps 1 to 3 mm in diameter that may appear on the shaft of the penis. They are non-infectious and a natural occurrence on the body. Treatment of Fordyce spots includes CO2 laser or electro desiccation, TCA chemical peels(temporary treatment),diathermy or laser vaporization. Please discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar n tn I took accutane for about 3-4 months, but I've been off of it for over a year. Before I took accutane, I was constantly wet - I would actually have to change underwear once or twice a day. I had an extremely high libido and orgasmed quickly. While on accutane, if my boyfriend and I would try to have sex, it would be so dry it felt like sandpaper and I would end up convulsing with tears it was so painful and frustrating. I thought it would change...
Avatar m tn I have looked up other growths such as skin tags or sebaceous hyperplasia, but I would expect an expert to know the difference. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Avatar m tn Hi. Diet has not been proven to affect acne. When we eat, nutrients are carried to organs like the brain and heart first so your skin may not improve from a healthy diet. Acne is caused by a sensitivity to the effects of androgens (male hormones) in our bodies. These stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce oil which causes spots. Acne is therefore "unfair"; people with healthy lifestyles can still get it.
Avatar n tn Hi Zaeema, Smoking tobacco will not interfere with the way Accutane works to shrink the sebaceous glands. Smoking also does not affect acne in general, since over-acted sebaceous glands are caused by high levels of androgens (hormones) not diet or general health. You will have your cholesterol levels monitored whilst on Accutane and smoking tobacco can raise cholesterol levels. So if you have raised cholesterol you should follow a low-cholesterol diet and give up smoking whilst on Accutane.
Avatar n tn Hi Hyperplasia or thickening of skin in rosacea may be explained by " tissue inflammation, collagen deposition, and sebaceous gland hyperplasia." This refers to enlarged glands and increased deposition of the skin fibers which may contribute to the appearance. Your condition need to be further assessed. If this indeed is rosacea, then laser therapy will help at this point .
Avatar m tn Sebaceous hyperplasia(no problem) is likely, Molluscum contagisum, yes but a second diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Is there any formal grading for a lump which has hyperplasia as the biopsy result? How will you draw the margin between usual hyperplasia and atypical hyperplasia in pathology? Please answer. regards....
Avatar f tn A dermatologist thought it could be a wart or sebaceous keratosis. They did cryo, which didn’t help much. It destroyed one hair follicle but not the other, and the bump kind of returned almost to its former size. A few weeks after cryo I got a biopsy. The diagnosis was Condyloma Acuminatum, with the comment “sections show epidermal hyperplasia, with hypergranulosis and some perinuclear clearing.” No typing was done to determine the HPV strain, assuming that’s what it was.

Avatar m tn No mention of Accutane associated with hypothyroidism. Good thing you only took the drug for three days.
