Common Questions and Answers about Accutane cream

accutane

Avatar n tn The best hand cream I used whilst on Accutane was Elizabeth Arden 8 hour hand cream. They also make an 8 hour lip cream which I used for dry lips whilst on Accutane. Eloise.
Avatar f tn What should I use to get rid if the rashes then. If I don't use the steroid cream the rashes get really bad. Do u know if accutane cause rashes on the face?
Avatar n tn I've only been on Accutane (actually, a generic brand of it) for ten days, and I experienced my first migraine on day 9. I am unsure if the migraine could be connected to Accutane, but I did a little research and some instances of migraines have been reported by Accutane users. I am just uncertain because I haven't been on it very long, but I am already experiencing dry lips, so I suppose I could be experiencing other side effects already, too.
Avatar m tn Other necessary precautions are to avoid exposure to UV rays, avoid too much alcohol, and not to take tetracycline antibiotics whilst on Accutane or for 5 weeks afterwards. Female Accutane patients must use two forms of contraception whilst on Accutane and for 5 weeks afterwards. Male patients do not need to abstain from unprotected sex but must not donate blood in case it is given to a pregnant women.
Avatar m tn Have had melasma for the past couple of years. Just started accutane 40 mg and wondering if there's anything I can use to help treat a stubborn spot on my forehead. Seems like its getting darker since I have started the pills. Already use a physical spf50 cream everyday. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I finished taking accutane about 7 years ago. Now every pimple or mark i get, i get a scar. Its white and slighly raised. My question is, is it possible that accutane could affect your healing and make you prone to scarring permanently? I've heard durning the treatment and a couple years after your skin is thin and sensitive but not permanently. I would appreciate an answer as I am really depressed over this.
Avatar m tn Roughly two months ago I used a very potent topical corticosteroid, Clobetasol Proprionate, for around three weeks. Shortly after this I began breaking out excessively (I was on accutane earlier this year, so I was used to being clear). Ever since then I have not stopped breaking out on my face. The steroid was applied to my lower stomach area, and behind my arms. I have since researched the ointment, and it states that acne is a side effect.
Avatar m tn My body fat went from around 15 % to under 8 % after taking accutane. I am extremely thin now and cannot put on weight on no matter how much I eat or what I eat. For example I can eat a whole tub of ice-cream and has no affect on my body. I have read about others have this issue also. Isotretinoin (accutane) obviously messed up something in my body so that it doesn't metabolize or absorb food the way it did pre-accutane. If anyone has any knowledge in this area plz respond. ty.
Avatar n tn I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
1155893 tn?1263018015 Hey, My dermo gave me Retin A cream to go along with my accutane. She said it would help clear up some of the dark spots I had on my skin from the acne. Will this help? What is this stuff usually used for ?
Avatar m tn Other topicals that are used to treat Pityrosporum folliculitis are ciclopirox olamine cream, econazole cream, alcohol and salicylic acid solution. Retinoids are not very effective. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and discuss these treatment options with him. I sincerely hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
Avatar n tn t want to scrub the area, use gentle fragrance free cleanser and gently wash the area. Scrubbing makes it worse. Here we have Accutane, clinidamycin topical, and other drugs. I also used neutorgena face wash then at bed salicylic acid gel or topical. You can use OXY 5 or 10 cream. I'm sure others will have plenty more to help you with. You can order on line except Accutane and Clindamycin require a prescription. There are some other new products I haven't tried.
Avatar f tn I regularly see a dermatologist for my acne and am currently taking my second course of accutane (I am in my second week on 40mg of Amnesteem). When I saw my dermatologist 2 weeks ago to get my accutane prescription I asked her about the dryness around my nose that had been there nearly a month and would not go away despite my cetaphyl and aquafor moisturizing attempts.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 19 year old guy who happened to take accutane. I finished my course about a year ago and eversince my glans has never been the same. To be honest, I didn't take care of my glans at all during the treatment, I didn't moisturize once down there even though It started to feel pretty dry towards the middle of the treatment. In the picture I attach you can see how most of the tip of the glans is keratinized and some areas are slightly more raised than others.
Avatar n tn Steroid rosacea is possible. I suggest stopping all steroids, by cream or by mouth. Topical antibiotics like metronidazole may help. If you weren't on Accutane, oral doxycycline might be useful, but you can't take that while taking Accutane (which may itself help if you finish off the course and don't use steroids any more.) This rash may take some time to heal, but it should in the end go away completely. Milk and food have nothing to do with it that I can think of. Best. Dr.
Avatar m tn I used the Daktacort cream (with hydro 1%) quite heavely on my T-zone for 2 weeks then left it for a few days then started using it again, that is when all these problems started to appear, I stopped using the cream but was then placed on a normal steroid cream for a week to try and counter the problem on my forehead. the only places affected are where the cream has been used. Does this sound possible and is there a cream I can use to try and reverse the damage?
Avatar f tn Redness reducing eye drops help, but only temporarily. I had this same problem when I was on Accutane, but it went away once i was off the drug. Now it is back and I have been off accutane for over a year. My eyes are not itchy, and there is no discharge to indicate pink-eye. I was tested by an allergist for enviornmental and food allergies and all were negative. I have switched my eye cream and eye make-up in case it was related, but it is still not better. Suggestions?
Avatar n tn I went and had a waxing done, not knowing that this was not suppost to be done while on Accutane ( I have been on treatment now for 2 mo) and now my upper lip is red swollen and very tender and burns. Please help. I have tried everything. I have been using Bacitracian and now Sivadine and nothing seems to work. Everything makes it hurt and it hurts just to talk or eat. I tried aloe but that burned even worse.
Avatar m tn It started when i went to the dermatologist for a bit of acne. He prescribed me atleast 5 different topicals (e.g. Clindoxyl gel) My skin didn't react well with benzoyl peroxide so he had me do a test and it came up that there was bacteria growing on my skin so he prescribed the doxycycline. 2 weeks later he tells me it's not bacteria and prescribes me clindasol cream.
Avatar n tn im also taking accutane, which i believe isnt helping the situation.. 30mg in the morning and 30 mg at night.. could this make the situation worse? Thank you for your input :)..
Avatar f tn my mother-in-law is a practicing homeopath in Toronto, and she had advised on some things to do instead (i.e.silica, calendula cream) which also did not work. I eventually went on Accutane - I have VERY mixed feelings about this med - it DID get rid of the acne. . .but the dry skin, dry eyes, bleeding lips, etc. were very painful. In addition, it also has damaging effects on the liver and kidneys as well - my once very low cholesterol shot up about 200 pts.
Avatar n tn However my extremely flaky/seemingly dry lips remain. Am I right in thinking that the lips are caused by having taken 40 mg a day of accutane for 5 mths up until April of 09, or could they be a result of my seborrheic dermatitis? I had the flaking on the lips before accutane but i was also using 400 mg a day of doxycycline for 4 yrs. prior to accutane so that could have been causing the dryness?
