Avatar n tn 17 year old daughter having stomach issues, just got a positive test for celiac, has bad acne, derm wants to put her on accutane. I am worried about the accutane and her stomach. Not sure celiac is only cause of stomach aches. Also birth control pill used to control acne, then she went off and it came back worse than ever. She is back on the pill for almost 3 months and it is not working. Why?
Avatar m tn after that i had Shaking in my hand (for 3 month then it removed) and bad concentration (i did not know till now why i did not go dr may i was thinking that is not problem ) after 4 year i did a test for thyroid and the result was positive for hypothyroidism , i want to ask if there is connection between the medication (Isotretinoin and accutane) and hypothyroidism and if it reversible
Avatar m tn Hello, I am a 20 year old male and have been taking accutane (claravis) for about 5 months now. I am taking two 40mg pills twice a day... I have experienced a few annoying side effects but one of the major ones i have noticed is hair loss. I had very thick hair pre-accutane and i noticed hair-thnning lately and my hairline as also been receding. This is driving me crazy. Will this be a permanent side-effect or temporary and will my hair come back to its original hair-line.
Avatar f tn I have just been diagnosed with celiac disease (autoimmune G.I.) and have found some studies that suggest a correlation with that and dilated cardiomyopathy. Does anyone on this forum have celiac disease or gluten sensitivilty?
Avatar n tn Celiac disease also referred to as gluten sensitive enteropathy (GSE), gluten intolerance, or celiac sprue, is considered to be the most under-diagnosed common disease today, affecting 1 in every 170 to 250 people in the USA. It is a chronic, inherited disease, and if untreated can ultimately lead to malnutrition. The incidence of Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease occurring together is about 7 - 12% in persons with either Celiac Disease or Diabetes.
Avatar n tn Oops, sorry, I thought that you hadn't been tested for celiac disease. But if you've been tested by blood testing, that test can be highly unreliable IMO and many others who are celiac, or who are married to someone with celiac disease (my status). If there's anyone in your family with celiac disease, consider getting retested, and make sure you also get your alleles checked as well.
Avatar f tn I have untreated celiac disease and have had a stress fracture 2nd metatarsal that did not heal for over 4 months. Was in a plastic air boot and crutches for 8 weeks. Then tried to get back into regular shoe and started p.t. But had continued pain and limping. Went to a new ortho for 2nd opinion and he took a 2nd MRI. Radiologist came back with 3rd metatarsal now has a stress fracture. So back in boot and crutches for 6 to 8 weeks. It has so far been 5 1/2 weeks.
209591 tn?1267414714 Thanks to a website called Medhelp, I was messaged from several people that were originally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and later with Celiac Disease. After researching the symptoms and my current laboratory testing, I am starting to wonder if it could be Celiac Disease. I am in desperate need of medical advice, from someone that has more experience in Autoimmune Diseases.

Avatar m tn Was the endoscopy upper or lower? If it was lower they should have taken biopsies to determine whether or not she has celiac disease. Have they tested her for Hirschsprung's disease?
Avatar f tn I WAS BORN WITH CELIAC DISEASE, BUT IT NEVER BECAME APPARENT UNTIL MY FIFTIES... I SEE A SPECIALIST AND HE HAS ME ON MISOPROSTOL TO HELP ME WITH CONSTIPATION... I AM HAVING A TERRIBLE TIME WITH THIS PROBLEM, FOR AWHILE IT SEEMED I HAD IT UNDER CONTROL AND NOW IT SEEMS I DON'T... I TAKE THIS MED FOUR TIMES PER DAY, AND I ALSO TAKE ALOE THREE TIMES DAILY... MY DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT THE ALOE WOULD JUST MAKE ME GO TO THE BATHROOM MORE OFTEN, BUT IT IS NOT DOING THAT NOW...
Avatar n tn They tell me to try to deal with it. It is possible I have Celiac Disease? What kind of a test can I have to see if I have that?
Avatar f tn My brother is suffering from celiac disease from last few months. Exact time we are not aware but we came to know about it when doctor told us to go through some blood test for it and endoscopy. Can you please let me know about the actual treatment for this disease and he is having rashes on his face as well as on his back due to this disease.
Avatar f tn hI Guys, I do have CD. I was dx last June following bloodwork and then an endoscopy. There is a lot of research indicating CD can cause many more problems than GI. However, it is hard to find a neuro who will agree. So far I haven't found one and I am still running around with the dx of demylenating disease and have been told probable MS. Who knows. I wish someone did. I have been searching for a dx since Aug of 08 and still haven't an answer other than CD.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have both celiac disease and juvenile diabetes. Celiac disease is when your body is intolerant to gluten(wheat, barley, rye oats). It is a very serious disease. If not treated, it could cause a lot of problems in the future. The only treatment is to be on a strict gluten-free diet. Its hard at first, but after a while it becomes natural. *If you would like any more advice I'd be more than happy to help!
711326 tn?1297868510 m wondering if the extreme bloating and pain I am in when I do get pregnant is part of the celiac disease (autoimmune disorder) attacking the implanted egg and causing me to miscarry. The pregnancies start off with high HCG numbers and within a short amount of time they all start to fail. I'm going to also talk to my RE and ask them to run the test to see if that might be the issue since I still have HCG present. I'm pretty much out of options if this isn't the case though.
Avatar f tn Okay, ya ready? You have 3 possibilities here: - celiac disease - non-celiac gluten intolerance - wheat allergy. It gets complicated because many studies and scholarly texts use "celiac disease" and "gluten intolerance" interchangably...they're not the same thing. Celiac is an autoimmune disease. Once you have one autoimmune (Hashi's), you're more prone to developing another (celiac). So, yes, there is a connection. Celiac can be tested for...

Avatar f tn So far all of those kids have celiac / food intollerances. None of my siblings were diagnosed as celiac, but suspected now. My mother the same - and now suspect at least some of her brothers also are celiac. So there is a STRONG genetic link.
Avatar n tn I have posed this question to both her Endocrinologist and GI specialist, without much confirmation of how the Celiac Disease affects blood sugar control. When she was first diagnosed with Celiac, her sugar was chronically low, especially through the night. Once we adhered to the diet, withing a few months her sugars spiked up and then regulated with insulin changes. Just wondering if others have seen the correlation. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I have taken a single course of roaccutane for 6months but with low doses and i have stopped this medictation 2years ago and thank god i have no problems with my digestive system but i have read alot about the IBS & IBD and that they are linked to accutane and that any accutane taker will develop IBS or IBD this is true??? and if what can i do to prevent this??
Avatar f tn both celiac disease and treatment can affect your farritin and iron levels. So this would be one concern that I would certainly ask my doctor about. Hope this is helpful. And good luck to you in dealing with both the celiac disease and hep c. I know they both can be very challenging.
Avatar f tn I just got off 2 rounds of accutane and I just went to the doctor yesterday. Both my doctor and I believe that Accutane have made my IBS severely worse. It changed my body. 1 round of accutane might be OK but I took 2 rounds and I paid the price. Although you will never get hard evidence that it was from Accutane, you know your bady...
Avatar n tn I've only been on Accutane (actually, a generic brand of it) for ten days, and I experienced my first migraine on day 9. I am unsure if the migraine could be connected to Accutane, but I did a little research and some instances of migraines have been reported by Accutane users. I am just uncertain because I haven't been on it very long, but I am already experiencing dry lips, so I suppose I could be experiencing other side effects already, too.
Avatar n tn I took accutane for about a year and right after developed severe joint pain and swelling, and was later diagnosed with lupus. While lupus is supposed to be a genetic disease, I have a feeling that the accutane had something to do with it, or that it may have even caused lupus-like symptoms in me that are now permanent. So while I have clearer skin, i truely think that at the very least the accutane triggered the lupus and the joint pain.
Avatar f tn In this study, 104 patients with Hashimotos Thyroiditis were tested for celiac disease. 16 patients (15%) showed positive celiac serology and 5 patients clear villous atrophy were diagnosed with celiac disease. In a separate test within this study, 184 patients with celiac disease were tested for thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies. 39 patients (21%) showed positive thyroid serology.
