accutane

Avatar n tn Please, if you are reading this and contemplating taking accutane, I beg you not to. Living with back pain and torn cartilages is a lot worse than living with acne. I have an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon in one week regarding the torn labrum of acetabulum. I heard scary things about surgery, so I'm not planning on taking the risk. I took a risk with my health once, and that will haunt me for the rest of my life. I am now depressed because I feel alone and hopeless.
Avatar m tn t constant, i only really feel it after bending over for a while and then when i stand back up and relax is when i feel the pain, and the only time that the back pain is extremely intense is when i lay down. every time i go to bed and i relax my back, for about 10-20 seconds i will feel a lot of lower back pain. but it quickly subsides and i feel nothing. Hopefully that last bit of information will help in the diagnosis of my problem.
Avatar n tn But it is excruciating pain and I’m convinced the accutane caused this even though I haven’t been on it in 2 years. Help.
Avatar n tn I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.

Avatar n tn Accutane is known to cause problems in skeletal system of growing teens. I took it around the same age as your son and had severe pain. I called "Rosche" the company that makes Accutane and they said it can stunt growth in teens by closing the epiphyseal plates prematurely. I'm 21 now and my height of 5'7'' hasn't increased since my last cycle of Accutane. I also remember having severe joint and muscle pain after HS tennis practices. - 21 male.
Avatar m tn Now, this is not that big deal however, I have never experienced eye pain. Its not excrutiating pain however, it is discomfortable. I have visine and eye drops from previous outings of infection once. The advice was see a doctor. Obviously, the biggest concern is stroke, heart attack and permanent removal of all things in my life like the ability to walk. I can say, nothing has helped the way accutane has. I got a hair cut and made the mistake of getting my hair texturized.
Avatar f tn t be scared, it may not even have anything to do with the Accutane, and was a coincidence that it happened while you were on it. See a Gastro doc and get to the bottom of it so you can get back to normal and have peace of mind. Take care....
Avatar n tn Also birth control pill used to control acne, then she went off and it came back worse than ever. She is back on the pill for almost 3 months and it is not working. Why?
Avatar f tn I have to wear the glasses and stay off accutane for 3 more weeks and then I go back to see if the symptoms have improved. If not he's going to order more tests to make sure there's not anything going on in my brain.
Avatar n tn Yes, I had mild acne when I was younger and my dermatologist gave me Accutane, a few months later I was in severe abdominal pain, fever, very weak and ended up in the emergency room originally diagnosed with appendicitis only to find out my appendix was perfect at which point they found the diseased portion of the small intestine and diagnosed me with Crohn's. Initially, I had frequent flare ups and was constantly under medication, but slowly and with the help of the Famous Dr.
Avatar n tn I suffered from back pain for several years and had many diagnostic tests done, only to find that everything was "fine". X-rays showed that my back was healthy. I had MRIs done, also came back fine. I was on naproxen for at least 2 years, and finally decided to stop treating the symptoms. I saw a chiropractor who also couldn't help. I had pain in the middle of my back; the muscles felt tensed all the time, and for some reason wouldn't release.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure why you need to start birth control pills or use a back up method a month before starting accutane. Maybe because that med can effect the first month of pills. You did have a period after starting accutane and you did'nt have unprotected sex until the 13th and 16th. Like I said, if you're like most women you shouldn't be ovulating at that time. Really, the only way to know for sure if you were ovualting is if you were using an ovulation test.
Avatar n tn And yes, they even say that there are lawsuits going on regarding use of Accutane and CD starting up. The warnings for Accutane are very similar to that of 2-butoxyethanol. They also comment on malabsorption, lipid & cholesterol issues, fever, and that autoimmune action on the red blood cells as autoimmune hemolytic anemia is very often present AND that it was more common in the 20s and 30s for those who cleaned a lot (the upper classes).
Avatar m tn 3 weeks ago I had my 1st eye infection of my entire life in my right eye so I went to an opthamalogist and he told me to stop taking the accutane for a week (which is what he says caused the infection) and put me on doxyclince hyclate 100mg twice a day and eurithromyocin gel to put on my eyelid that knocked the infection out.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am a 20 year old male and have been taking accutane (claravis) for about 5 months now. I am taking two 40mg pills twice a day... I have experienced a few annoying side effects but one of the major ones i have noticed is hair loss. I had very thick hair pre-accutane and i noticed hair-thnning lately and my hairline as also been receding. This is driving me crazy. Will this be a permanent side-effect or temporary and will my hair come back to its original hair-line.

Avatar n tn I took a 40mg dose of accutane for 6 months. I experienced horrible dryness, nightmares, back pain, it made me cranky, dry vagina, and I could barely scratch myself and my skin would just flake off. I literally felt like some kind of monster. I’ve been off accutane for 7 months and some symptoms have gotten better (my lips aren’t so chapped, my mood is better, and my skin isn’t so sensitive) but I am still having issues with vaginal lubrication.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.
Avatar f tn I just got off 2 rounds of accutane and I just went to the doctor yesterday. Both my doctor and I believe that Accutane have made my IBS severely worse. It changed my body. 1 round of accutane might be OK but I took 2 rounds and I paid the price. Although you will never get hard evidence that it was from Accutane, you know your bady...
Avatar n tn I have taken Accutane and experienced joint and muscle pain. However, this and other side effects wore off as my body got used to the medication. I had no side effects, except for dry lips, from 12 weeks onwards and took Accutane for 24 weeks. Side effects are generally dose related. Taking Accutane at the recommended dose for 16 to 24 weeks is your son's best hope of a long term remission from acne. The recommended dose is between 0.5 and 1mg x kg bodyweight per day.
Avatar m tn For the melasma, treatment options include treatment with vitamin C and hydrocortisone, peel with carbon dioxide snow and alexandrite and ND-Yag Q-Switched laser treatment preceded by a hydroquinone-based application. But get it done after the course of Accutane. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
