Avatar m tn Hi everyone, for 5 years I've been haunted by this abscess in my groin/labia. It comes and goes, sometimes it's gigantic (REALLY) and sometimes just a painful, red, inflamed, deep seated "nodule" (so it doesn't disfigure me completely, but still makes it awfully painful to walk). I had the abscess drained at the hospital once (never again, the anestesia hurt like hell and did not numb the area at all... urgh!) and the material (the pus) was sent for culture....
Avatar n tn Chronic halitosis may be caused by poor oral hygiene, gingivitis (gum disease),oropharyngeal infections or a dental abscess. Bad body odor is caused by smell of bacteria growing on the body. These bacteria multiply rapidly in the presence of sweat, but sweat itself is almost completely odorless. Body odor is associated with the hair, feet, groin (upper medial thigh), anus, skin in general, armpits, genitals, pubic hair, and ears. http://en.wikipedia.
587091 tn?1218507144 Hi, They appear like boils. A boil or a skin abscess is a localized infection deep in the skin. It is caused by the infection of hair follicles. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus and dead tissue. Finally, the pus "forms a head". This would be the whitish centre that you have described in your post.
483165 tn?1208531596 //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perianal_abscess You need further evaluation by a physician. An internist may be able to assess you completely and suggest for referrals if further intervention may be indicated. You may be needing oral antibiotics. Keep the area clean and dry and wash only with mild and bland cleansers. Have you been diagnosed with diabetes before? Any other similar lesions in other parts of the body?
Avatar f tn •Central nervous system disorders, such as stroke, brain tumour, brain abscess, multiple sclerosis, encephalitis, transient ischemic attacks or mini strokes, and transverse myelitis. •Connective tissue diseases, for example rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjogrens syndrome. •Nerve entrapment syndromes, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and sciatica. •Metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, hypothyroidism. •Cardiovascular diseases, such as atherosclerosis.
Avatar n tn the study of choice is the CT scan, which may show focal destruction of the bone or signs of an abscess (a pocket of infection”. Taken from http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn This sounds like it might be a perianal abscess. Go to the wikipedia site below and see if what they describe sounds like what you are experiencing. http://en.wikipedia.

529385 tn?1212794874 //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradenitis This discussion is related to Small 'pimples' forming on breast.
Avatar n tn He might of just said restrictive lung disease, or shortened it and said restrictive disease. That's a category or in some cases a category of a category of conditions that cause the lungs not to expand to their full potential but it's not a disease itself. I can testify that cxr's aren't specific enough to name a specific disease without further evaluation. Hope this helps some, take care. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn This relieved much of the pain (except for some minor discomfort with the irritated area), but im slightly concerned with whether or not medical attention should be given to it. Is it an abscess? Some form of pimple? Should i be concerned? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn If infection sets in, the result is a Bartholin's abscess. If the infection is severe or repeated a surgical procedure known as marsupialization may be required to stop further recurrences." However, in your case, a folliculitis is be more likely. Source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartholin's_cyst Folliculitis refers to bacterial infection of the hair follicles. This may present as reddish bumps that affect the hair follicles .
Avatar f tn Anal abscess is an infected cavity filled with pus found near the anus or rectum. Pus drains out if the skin over the abscess breaks. An abscess usually results from an acute infection of a small gland just inside the anus. An anal fistula, on the other hand, usually results from a previous abscess. It is a small tunnel connecting the anal gland from which the abscess arose to the skin outside the anus.
Avatar n tn The symptoms rang, I had sores on my face, I had a huge abscess on my forehead which had mega amount of puss in it. I am permantely scared . I contracted during a stay in the hospital for my back. If you need to talk feel free to look me up, I am also part of a study now at University of Penn to try and find out everything they can about it.
Avatar f tn Your daughter already had a MRI of the brain and so if there is no mass (such as a hemorrhage, tumor, or abscess), which may increase pressure within the skull, a lumbar puncture should be done. Cold sweats are a sign of infection. Other chest infection could be due to infection in the system. Please read through this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meningitis Please consult this possibility with your doctor. Hope this helps. If you need more help, please feel free to contact.
Avatar f tn Hidradenitis Suppurativa I found the term on another site and did a google wiki search. I don't think I'm dealing with the Montgomery glands thing as suggested but I don't think I can rule anything out until I actually see a real MD.
Avatar n tn If the lump came up really quickly, it is possible it might be an abscess (?) Even more likely if it is very sensitive or painful, or looks inflamed. If it's a very soft, round lump, it might be a lipoma, which is benign, but if it grows too big, and affects the nerves or muscle-function, may need to be taken off, (a lipoma is made of fatty tissue) If it is firm, but smooth and very rounded, there is a possiblity it could be a fluid-filled cyst. That could be drained.
Avatar n tn Please see the star* portions of the below points I make. You two may both have an anal abscess of some kind, and I think you should both pursue this idea, as it can get fairly serious if left untreated. Berry, I hope your scan comes out okay. Dear Mammo and other posters: I am finding some terms getting perhaps a little confused in all these posts. An anal fissure is a tear or cut, usually obvious to see.
Avatar m tn I was in the ER with an Infected abscess, I keep getting sick with infections like bronchitis and need help. I have asthma and sleep apnea. my labs are: IgE 147 (0-100) IGG Subset 3 12.8L (18.4-106) Toxplasma IGG 35.1 (>8 positive) Do I have an immune disorder or other disease? My cortisol is also low, thyroids low-normal. Thanks very much!
Avatar f tn //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorazepam Should help for sleep and panic attacks but can be addictive..
Avatar m tn Looks like Trichomycosis axillaris "Trichomycosis axillaris is a relatively common superficial bacterial colonization of the axillary hair shafts. Granular concretions, which are yellow, black, or red, adhere to the hair shaft and clinically characterize trichomycosis axillaris" http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1054088-overview Image at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichomycosis_axillaris It is gram-positive bacterium.
Avatar m tn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraneoplastic_syndrome You can seek the opinion of another medicine specialist along with consultation with a neurologist. I think you should discuss these possibilities with them, especially if you have other symptoms. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
Avatar f tn I'd think it should be possible to distinguish fluid from an abscess from other things (granuloma?) by the CT. You can get a copy of the CT report and look for key words - I'd very much recommend that rather than being in the dark while you wait for the next appt. Did you travel to any exotic places? If the initial ab lump is near the surface... lymphoma would tend to be deeper.
Avatar n tn I just check on Wikipedia and found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebaceous_cyst It shows pictures of the cyst. This is what I have on my left vaginal lip or it sure looks and sounds like what everyone on here is discribing. Mine just started the other day. I squeezed it a couple times and got some puss. but it is still there!!!! ARRRGGGG!!!
