Abscess vs cyst

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess vs cyst

abscess

Avatar n tn A simple cyst is a fluid filled cyst. Complex can be fluid and solid. An example of this is a dermoid which has fluid and solids (hair, teeth, bone, etc.) Also, it is good to remember that 99% of ovarian cysts are benign. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please ask!!
Avatar n tn Incision and drainage of abscess (eg, carbuncle, suppurative hidradenitis, cutaneous or subcutaneous abscess, cyst, furuncle, or paronychia); complicated or multiple; but his Documentation indicates "Acne Lesions" with a 2 and bills for multiple/complicated I&D. From a proffesional point of view, would it be more appropriate to bill for 10040: Acne surgery (eg, marsupialization, opening or removal of multiple milia, comedones, cysts, pustules)?
Avatar f tn Now lips and chin number. On 2 antiobiotics since original opening of abscess--Flagyl and Clindomycin. Area of abscess better but pain in face and numbers lingers on. Have felt very sick. WBC was normal but this was after many days on antibiotic. Sed rate high. Went to dentist first who thought it was salivary gland infection-def not a tooth. Went to ENT and she said not salivary gland. They could see infected area.
Avatar f tn About 8 months ago I had a second hernia repair surgery and every since then I have experienced as well complained about severe pain in the lower left side of my stomach, I have been to ER a couple of times because of it and admitted the second time, they did a cat scan on me and saw blood and fluid on the scan and thought it may had been an abscess, they gave me antibiotics and such. My sergeon came in and basically told me it's nothing to worry about and was released the next day.

168348 tn?1379360675 she wants to reassess after next TSH on the 88mcgs to see how it is. Calf cramps are gone. Dealing with minor stitch abscess again on the mini-incision from the infected cyst/granulamo ... using prescrip topical ointment and seems a bit better. STINKS doesn't it. My endo mentioned scar tissue with my healing patterns can be a major issue for future thyorid surgeries and to keep that in mind if TT is elective for some reason.
Avatar n tn MRI brain with contrast revealed a left deep parietal multicystic lesion made of 3 cysts, the biggest 4x4x4. (Suspeected brain abscess vs. metastatic, surrounded by dense edema.) Steriotactic needle aspiration was done Feb. 23 and reveled a dark yellow clear fluid impresive of Astrocytoma fluid. Yet C/S and cytological examination reveled no growth of organism and cytology reveled hemorragic clear fluid with no evidence of malignant cells.
Avatar f tn Based upon these findings, I have it ruled down to folliculitis vs. a cyst. The pain mimics that of past underarm folliculitis, however due to the location of the inflammation, drainage or lancing isn't possible for a solo act. I have doxycycline available, and was going to restart it to see if this lump disappears (along with witch hazel for anal-rectal cleaning). Any help would be appreciated!
1548207 tn?1303457780 I feel like the controlled draining heals better for me but the financial cost is overwhelming me currently so I am on the fence about it. Ladies any opinion on the doc vs letting it burst and deal on your own? Also i keep hearing u ladies discuss this clay can someone tell me a good brand and where to buy it and how it works i would like to try it?
Avatar n tn Good morning. I received my CT results from yesterday and I'm a little confused. Here's the newest one: "18 mm cystic area left adnexa consistent with an ovarian cyst/follicle likely of no significance. A larger cystic area in the right adnea consistent with cyst or adjacent cysts and measures 3cm x 2cm. This was present before." In the Impressions area it says Abdomen: negative, Pelvis: Diverticulosis.
Avatar n tn I have a before and after shot and keep in mind mine had gotten infected with an abscess so didn't heal even as nicely as yours will! Takes about a year to be faded to nothing for the most part with most people!
168348 tn?1379360675 He suddenly thought it cannot be a stitch abscess as no stitches there at all .. now he thinks it is a SEBACEOUS CYST and put me on strong antibiotic 4X day for 10 days and come back. He "was" going to drain the thing thru the incision so no scar but said that would be a mj. mistake if this is a cyst ??? Anyway ... I left .. he said it is not connected to the thyroid surgery (odd, though, how the bump was there the next day huh?
168348 tn?1379360675 they said with the disk they will be able to compare it for changes from October and give a more detailed report vs. me just handing them a copy of the narrative report from October (the receptionist said that is all I needed to bring as the nodule was only 3mm .. what a jerk!!) So will drop that off sometime this week. My Endo suggested it was a good idea to do so as these are "serial" 6mo ultrasounds.
Avatar m tn The right maxillary sinus shows a small amout of mucosal thickening in the floor vs. a small retention cyst. There is a small air fluid level within the left maxillary sinus. Postsurgical changes are noted in the left aspect of the nasal cavity. There is leftward nasal septal deviation. The ostiomeatal units are patent. IMPRESSION: 1. Small air fluid level in the left maxillary sinus compatible with acute sinusitis. 2. Mild mucosal thickening within the frontal sinus. 3.
168348 tn?1379360675 Cannot tolerate any more bcz of nervousness ,, 3mm nodule on the other side that looks on u/s like the benign one removed on other side. 1/2 the scar is really looking good .. the other half which was abscess/infected is slowly looking pretty good almost a yr later and my dermatologist says it will continue to get better daily!
Avatar n tn cyst and sent me to a Gyn/oncology well he did the dye test and biopsy of the cyst this cyst would be hard as a walnut then soft other times this Dr. would exam me all the time and was rude, had a ego old man problem would tell me one time he never saw it (what the hell did I come to see him to began with!???) that knew everything was a teacher at UAMS, LR, AR.
Avatar n tn I must admit, I wish there were more posts about what was discovered. I'm hoping it's simply a cyst, but it seems a cyst could occur in more varied locations - again it's strange all these are in the same place. As for the ridge under the breast, I've had those as well - thank your underwire bra. ;) Over the years, you basically develop a callous. Those typically aren't painful, though - just annoying when you find them!
Avatar m tn One of the causes of maxillary sinusitis is a tooth abscess that has leaked the infection into the maxillary sinus. The teeth may be X-rayed to find this. • Ethmoid sinuses. If infection occurs, you may get puffy eyes and pain between them. The sides of your nose may get tender to the touch, your nose may get stuffy, and you won’t be able to smell so well. You may also get a splitting headache, felt most intensely in the forehead. • Sphenoid sinuses.
Avatar n tn After pain for 6 months off and on and a trip to the emergency room, with pain so severe it made me double over, it was found on a CAT scan that I had a good size cyst that they thought burst. When I went to my OBGYN and had a vaginal sonogram they found not a cyst that had burst but one that doubled in size from the 2 weeks prior trip to the emergency room. My doctors suggestion was a laproscoptic surgery to remove the cyst and I asked about a hysterectomy and he agreed to do as I wished.
Avatar n tn I got a call from my doctor's office yesterday with the results of my ultrasound...I have a cyst! I thought well yeah I knew that yesterday! They told me that the Dr wanted to see me in a month. I told them no I'm coming in on Monday, that really seemed to annoy her. I don't really have any suggestions but I will stop by here after my appointment Monday and let you know if I learn anything new. I would say though that if they keep bothering you get it checked out.
Avatar n tn mra images internal carotid arteries in the brain, that would have definitely showed an brain aneurysm. mri would have showed, avm, tumor, cyst, cancer, meningiomas,etc..., if all that is worrying you really is dying from an aneurysm, relax you dont have it, yes i agree on horror stories, but youve tested.
551343 tn?1506834118 So a couple of days ago I developed what we think is an anal abscess. I think my body is giving up the ghost and this is due to poor nutrition. So it's off to GP today. As you can see I'm not embarrassed to talk about anything. I've had bladder incontinence, bowel incontinence a few times. Pride becomes a thing of the past. I've always said I would help anyone in limbo as I hope nobody has to go through the hoops I've gone through.
