Common Questions and Answers about Abscess tooth pop

Avatar n tn i have a bump thts as abscess in my upper part of gum i wll pop it but next day r 2 it wll come right back whats thats
Avatar n tn 1) There are several different types of abscess but the most common is a periapical abscess in which there is a cavity in the tooth that invades the pulp of the tooth. The bacteria then travels down the pulp into the jawbone and begins to destroy the jawbone.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't recommend doing that on your own. It would be best for you to see your dentist and have them do an incision and drainage on the area. The abscess you are describing sounds very large and you should see a dentist immediately. The swelling may continue to spread and it may go to other parts of your head and face so its best to manage it ASAP before there are more complications.
Avatar f tn I've been on Amoxicillin for 5 days for a tooth abscess. I went to the dentist for significant facial swelling, and was diagnosed with the abscess. The swelling has gone down, however I now have a pus pocket on my gum above my molars. It's only painful when I touch it, but I can see the swelling under my cheek when I smile. Since I'm already on Amoxicillin, can I pop the abscess using a sterilized needle? It's Friday night, and the dentist won't be in until Monday...PLEASE HELP!!
Avatar m tn Hello, A dental examination is necessary for appropriate diagnosis and treatment of your condition.Tooth decay if left untreated can result in tooth abscess. Prompt treatment can save the tooth and a root canal may be recommended in an attempt to save the tooth. Untreated abscesses may get worse and can lead to life-threatening complications. You may need antibiotics for a prolonged duration and anti-inflammatory drugs if there is pain associated with it.
Avatar f tn Not saying you have it or will get it, but it IS very possible to get this from an abscessed tooth. Tooth abscess can cause the death of the tooth and it can literally be the death of you. Never leave tooth abscess to it's own end and where-ever possible, get to a dentist ASAP. Remember, infection can spread and affect the heart and it literally eats into the soft facial bones. Not something to fool around with.
Avatar m tn If the bump is periapical abscess, root canal treatment is indicated.
Avatar n tn Also most alarming was last night it was throbbing as always but suddenly there was an extremely sharp shooting pain, felt like a pop almost then nothing. no more pain in that tooth. Did my nerve die or something?
Avatar f tn So I went to the dentist and sure enough, I had an abscess on the tooth where my crown had fallen out around a year earlier. I was put on antibiotics and had it removed along with another tooth 3 days later. It has been 2 weeks since the extraction. My headaches are back! That weird pressure feeling is back. I feel strange in my head...and having that feeling of anxiety.
Avatar m tn Make sure you don't swallow the fluids that are in the abscess if it ever to pop. Good luck! I use to have an abscess on my top molar and they had to give me a root canal and a crown. It wasn't so bad and sometimes I forget I even have a crown back there. It looks and feels like a tooth.
Avatar m tn It may be an abscess forming underneath the tooth and its starting to pop out causing a blister/bubble on the gumline area where the bottom of the tooth root is generally. The severe pain is probably indicative of a problem with the pulp/nerve of the tooth. When the pain stopped, it probably stopped because the nerve died from the infection and now its spread down into the jaw. Time to go back to the dentist.
Avatar m tn If you can pop the bump, it could possibly be an abscess. Sometimes with an infection from the tooth, it can spread through the jaw bone and exit out of the gums and create a swelling or bump which you can pop with pus coming out. I would suggest you go see your dentist to check and find out whats going on.
317787 tn?1473362051 My jaw is still hurting and I was told it was because they had to cut the gums to get the tooth out. The tooth only came to the gumline, I had lost the crown the day before and the tooth under was very decayed.
Avatar f tn Prior to the first incounter, I had cut my gums and had a wound. After the sex, I had an abscess pop up on my gum line. I popped it a couple times, but it kept coming back. Around 7/18, I got a sore throat and just an ill feeling. I had some night sweats (that may have been due to alcohol) but never a fever. Saw my doctor 7/23 and started Doxcycline just in case something was up. I then had the abscessed tooth removed 7/31.
Avatar m tn Iight I smoke cigarettes and I tried nicorette gum to quit but didn't work, so I stopped using them and a week after I got the bump on my left side gum in the inside of my mouth and for those 2 years I kept on pushing it down and pus would come outta it and the next day it would come back and do it again , but when i drain it til theirs blood the tooth would hurt for a few mins than the pain goes away if anyone has had this before share your story on it cause I don't know what this is and can't
Avatar f tn Now about 8 months ago I developed an abscess on my gum over the bad tooth that needed a rootcanal. Its not painful, but I do have to pop it like a pimple about 2 or more times a day. I try to put lots of mouthwash on it and not swallow right after. About 2 months ago a part of that tooth just fell out, but only the inside quarter of it. Its still not painful, but I feel sooo fatigue all the time. I am 36 and have always been very active and healthy. I never felt so run down before.

Avatar n tn I have been getting a weird bump on my gums now for the past few years. The will pop up every 1 to 2 months and is always in the exact same spot (above my left eye tooth). It starts off pretty small but within around an hour it reaches full size (usually about the size of a jelly bean). When it gets as big as its going to get, it is usually pretty hard and hurts very badly if I touch it at all. After a while it gets softer and eventually I can mash it and bust it.
Avatar f tn Im wondering if its all combi ed can i have an infection in my nose that caused the bubble above my bad tooth thats causeing me all this pain or could the tooth have given me an infection which inturn infected my nose and swallowing puts whatever it is in my stomache. And hurting me am i gonna die from it can a tooth infection cause a brain anuisume.
Avatar f tn I keep getting this white bump on my upper gums in the same spot every time, just above my left front tooth. Sometimes it hurts and is uncomfortable so I will pop it like a pimple and a white fluid comes out but it relieves the pressure and pain, then i rinse with listerine. I think it may have something to do with a past injury to my teeth. When i was 15 I was hit by a car (I'm now 25) and my 2 front teeth got knocked back and the doctor at the hospital pulled them back forward with her finger.
Avatar n tn i have what looks like a white head or pimple on my gums above my front left tooth. i pushed my nail against it and the top of it cam off leaving a little red blood spot. does anyone know what this is and what causes it.
685173 tn?1340220597 Needless to say, Snoop went to the vet and they gave us some anti-biotics and told us if it didn't work, it was probably a problem with his tooth. So much earlier today, I saw him at the door wagging his tail and looked at his face. his eye was swollen.. I had never actually seen it swollen like that before today. Didn't really worry about it all day because daddy's been giving him his anti-biotics and I felt like I have to give it more than a couple of days to work.
Avatar n tn So I opted to have the tooth pulled. within 2 weeks of pulling my tooth my acne was completely gone! I have no regrets about pulling the tooth and I can't believe after 3 years of acne is 100% clear! For some reason doctors, dentists, and dermatologists have no clue about dental infections and acne but I'm living proof that there is correlation.
Avatar f tn Next you could see if any of the draining areas have any evidence of infection, like tonsils, the skin, tooth abscess or an ear infection. Treatment is usually with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. If they do not resolve with this therapy. Then others like tumors or lymphomas can be considered. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
432312 tn?1265648574 My husband had brain surgery when he was 12 years old. He had an abscess removed which was in his frontal sinus which was removed this left him with a seizure disorder and having to take seizure meds for the rest of his life. He has a few triggers that we have to watch for besides making sure he takes his pills. Sinus infection can send him into one as well as not getting enough good sleep or a bad tooth can trigger it...
786396 tn?1379369791 I believe its the arch, feels like a bone/nerve structure that is part of the connector of the Jaw and mouth. half inch Right above the last back tooth. I'm 24, the top back teeth look to becoming in... But anyways i felt my other side and its normal. but when i pin pointed the pain it felt like a hard small, small ball. Doesn't move, isn't mushy. Feels like a hard rock. pain is a lot when touched, when eating you can feel it. I mean it hurts when played with the most. You can not see it.
Avatar f tn however,i do recall A METALLIC taste about 4 weeks before the cleaning,i don't know if that could of been the start,so,i guess if you can answer this for me it would help me to understand, How long can a tooth be infected before it gets an abscess or becomes swollen? also ,what do you feel about my educated guess? and if i did inflame or irritate a nerve how long to get that back to normal?
Avatar n tn There is a chance that you have developed an abscess at the injection site. This can be very painful and cause a burning sensation. The other possibility is bursitis of the hip joint. An X-ray or CT scan of the joint should be done. There is a chance that there is inflammation of the soft tissues of the hip and the sciatic nerve has got embedded into it. A nerve conduction study should be done.
