My initial guess is that its thrush (oral candidiasis). Its a fungal infection of the tongue. You would need some anti-fungal medication from your doctor. As for the abscess, you should get those taken care of. As the abscess grows, it'll continue to spread and get larger, causing damage to your jaw bone.

I have same problem, I brushed my tongue with Baken Soda tooth past and removed 95% of the white thrush. If you have mouth thrush always use baken soda tooth past.

I went to my regular dentist on 1/13/06 and xrays showed a large abscess in tooth #10, as well as a smaller abscess in tooth #20. On 1/17/06 I had a RCT done on tooth #10, as well as an incision in the roof of my mouth behind that tooth to help extract the infection. On 1/19/06, I had a RCT done on tooth #20, with one 0.05mm post placed. I have been on Antibiotics since 1/13/06, taking Penicillin VK 500mg QID, so I'm now on my Eighth day of antibiotics.

I recently went to the dentist because of pain in between my gum and an abscess forming below. He did an xray and found no tooth damage. He found that I needed a root canal two teeth back. It is still incredibly painful in between my teeth and there is incredible pressure below my tooth where the abscess is forming. Should I go to the doctor again? The pus has not started draining in it despite attempts with salt water, tea bags and hydrogen peroxide to draw it out.

I'm very worried about my husband & need some direction. Some background; he went to a Periodontist about a month ago for treatment for gingivitis & had a tooth extraction (tooth 20 I believe), since that time he's had a couple of infections that were treated with antibiotics.

My question is, can an otherwise healhty individual get oral thrush and why? My Dentist said that it might be oral thrush but didn't offer any clues as to why I have it. I have been married and had one sexual partner for the past 5 years and am not worried about aids but everything I find on the net says I am dying from some immuno deficency b/c I have thrush.. I am going crazy please help me!

Have any of you had oral thrush while pregnant and had to take liquid nystatin? Did it cause any harm to the baby? It bothers me having to take an antibiotic while pregnant :-( Thanks.

After I visit my dentist, they found out one of my tooth have pocket depth11 in one point of my lower back tooth. They suggest a tooth extraction, and get second oponion. I ate anitbiotic and now my toothache is gone, I started root canal on that tooth, and doctor recommand me to see a gum specialist before they do the root canal. They said I have Periodontal Disease, I am wondering if this tooth can be saved by the gum specialist. Is sugical gum treatment can save my tooth?

About six months ago, I had two teeth (18 and 19) prepped for crowns. One of the teeth (19) had deep decay. No pain prior to procedure and no sensitivity to hot/cold. After the crown prep, had periodic pain in both so asked dentist to place crowns with temp cement in case root canal became necessary. Experienced severe galvanic shock. Removed temps and had root canals on both teeth. Continued to have severe pressure sensitivity on 19 and some on 18.

If it turns out that it is a tooth responsible for the abscess, it needs to be taken out as as the abscess is completely gone. Don't wait or the abscess could come back worse.

to whom it may concern, I am a 23 year old female with left lower mouth pain where the wisdom tooth should be, i went to an oral surgeon today who said he thinks its tmj but told me that the left lower wisdom tooth is impacted and in the bone near the jaw, im am thinking that it is my wisdom tooth that is causing the problem but he doesnt think so. he thinks its tmj what do any of you think it is.

see both then make a choice endo and a surgeon thats what I did and made the choice for the tooth to be removed and an implant put in. I made the right choice in my case the tooth could not be saved and the implant is amazing better than my real tooth. I chose the later after hearing there was no garantee another root canal would take and if it did maybe for a year or two and I did not want to go to one then have the other a few years later.
