Abscess tooth molar

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess tooth molar

abscess

Avatar f tn I developed an abscess in my lower left molar which hurt quite a bit. It was on a tooth than previously had a root canal performed on it. I was put on antibiotics, but the abscess moved into my cheek and my face became huge. My Endo. was unable to drain the abscess because of where it was located (under my cheek muscle), but went ahead and did the re-do root canal anyway after I was on antibiotics for four days.
Avatar n tn t come out yet and that the tooth you are referring you is your second molar. You have 3 molars usually and the first molar is probably the one you lost. The first molar comes out at age 6, the second molar comes out at age 12 and the last one comes out at age 18-25.

Avatar m tn I have a dental abscess on upper molar. It has been drained and I am taking antibiotics, but now my lower jaw is starting to hurt. Can this abscess be spreading from upper to lower?
Avatar m tn A few months ago I had a tooth infection on my lower back molar. I was told I need a root canal and given antibiotics. After the infection cleared up and stopped hurting I forgot about it, with the intention of eventually going back and getting it taken care of. Well now I have a painless lump on the outside gum right below that tooth. It seems to have appeared over night. I thought I felt food in there and noticed it. It feels like a blister but doesn't hurt at all.
Avatar m tn Check with a dentist to make sure there are no infected teeth causing the swelling. If not, I would go see your physician.
Avatar f tn I have had a long history of dental problems, all of them costly. I developed a tooth abscess, my mom didn't do anything about it and it ended up staying in my mouth for about 5 or 6 years. By the time the tooth was finally extracted in October 2011, the toxicity of the abscess deteriorated away at my jaw bone. The tooth in question was a molar, second from the very back of the bottom of my mouth. The tooth above it started to over-erupt, but has been stopped by the very back molar.
Avatar f tn Hi , My story started with sever pain after my root canal treatment a month ago, then I started to feel something is swollen in my throat, moving up towards the part where the root canal molar treatment took place.Accordingly, I made several visits to general dentists & an oral surgeon, got different opinions, but a common ground answer was that it is probably my wisdom tooth that is causing all this & a less doubt that the molar with the root canal may need to be re-treated again.
Avatar f tn About 4 weeks ago, I went to my dentist for an abscess that developed on the gum next to this molar. An x-ray revealed infection. I've been on penicillin for 3 weeks and seeing an endo on Friday to have it evaluated. So far, my dentist said I may have to get the root canal redone. When I asked him if this would save the tooth, he said not necessarily. So, if I have the tooth extracted, what can be done to fill the void? He doesn't think an implant is feasible.
4704700 tn?1358332970 It depends on whether second molar is salvavle or not. If second molar is hopeless, removal of impacted third molar is probably meaningless.
Avatar m tn Okay, so I found out that it was an early stage abscess. I've had the first stage root canal done. Meaning the dentist just drilled out the pulp and filled it with temp filling. He said my abscess should go away by itself. It's been a week and the abscess has not gone down at all. Should I be worried? I have another appointment in a few days. Just wondering since my dentist doesn't seem to like telling me things. And he doesn't seem to really care for that matter.
Avatar n tn Do you think this is a definite sign of a tooth abscess due to the trauma of the crown? When I called about the appointment, they were already talking about the possibility of being referred to an endodontist for a potential root canal. Is this my only option? Can I not just kill off the infection with antibiotics? I broke the bank on the crown (no dental insurance), and I simply cannot afford another expensive procedure.
317787 tn?1473358451 My jaw is still hurting and I was told it was because they had to cut the gums to get the tooth out. The tooth only came to the gumline, I had lost the crown the day before and the tooth under was very decayed.
Avatar m tn I was referred to an oral surgeon on 8/6 to have a "cracked tooth" (lower left molar) removed after having a lot of pain for weeks. That procedure took about 1/2 hour, in which he had to apply what I considered to be an EXTREME amount of pressure to my jaw to get it out in pieces. By 8/12 I was still in a lot of pain and returned only to have the tooth next to it (eye tooth ?) pulled claiming there was an abscess below a previous root canal.
Avatar n tn He decided on root canal and called the endodontist (appt is for Thursday). The dentist showed me the film and although the tooth root looks okay (no black area of abscess), there is a "white ring shadow" above the tooth root. He said that is indicative of a sinus problem. He asked if I had a cold or sinus infection but I haven't had any cold or nasal drip for years.
Avatar n tn Since then, this tooth has been hurting me, causing pain to radiate from my tooth to my jaw. It is sensitive - but not overly so - to cold and heat. I went to my dentist and he took an x-ray this week and saw no sign of decay or abscess. What could the problem be?
Avatar n tn An old root canal had developed an abscess. The tooth was very difficult to extract and the dentist had to focibly rock the tooth back and forth to get it loose enough to remove. The tooth came out fully in tact. However, I now have a very painful, sharp bony protrusion on the outside of the gum area of the extraction. Is this some kind of broken or crushed socket?
Avatar f tn This all started 2 months ago with head pressure. I scared myself silly. I went to 4 doctors, the er, and to the dentist. At that time I had 4 teeth (3 wisdom and a molar) that had cavities. At that appt. The dentist said there was no infection. Was going through a lot of stress, still am, and am really scared about my health all of a sudden. Saw my doctor on Wednesday and he said it sounded like anxiety. Dentist on Thursday, said I had a tooth infection.
Avatar f tn Important to mention my lower jaw and upper broken abscess molar are both located on the left side. I have been extremely depressed as my best friend passed away and my ex boyfriend tried to kill me all in a month. Hence the broken jaw. I started doing cocaine and now the entire inside of my nose has deteriorated and I’m so scared to see a doctor because I’m embarrassed for letting my body suffer and missing my initial follow up after surgery.
Avatar m tn When the did the surgery they found an abscess (cavity). I had them pull the molar, and they cleaned out the abscess. It is now March and my gum is still sore. Is this normal? I did have quite a few stitches in my mouth. Just wasn't sure if it should still be sore. I should say it is only sore when I touch up there.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have been having upper mouth pain for about 3 days. There is no abscess or infection of my teeth. I went to the dentist 3 weeks ago and was given a clean bill of health. I went to the dentist today and he said he is not sure what is causing the pain. He took a bunch of x-rays, but could find nothing wrong. He said it's not a cracked tooth, cavities, or an abscess. I have already had all my wisdom teeth pulled. Sometimes the pain is also referred to my lower jaw.
Avatar f tn I was told my tooth was cold sensitive due to an abscess above my root on an upper back molar. The dentist wanted to do a root canal, I had had two very bad experiences with root canals so I chose extraction after a week of antibiotics. Today, after my tooth was removed, when I make a sucking motion in my mouth air came thru the hole the tooth used to be in from my NOSE. I told the nurse who then told me to hold my nose and blow. Sure enough, air came out of the hole, she could hear it.
Avatar f tn #2 upper molar, #29 lower bicuspid and #30 lower molar. The pain and the throbbing has NEVER stopped and no one can tell me why. If the nerve is dead, why does the pain persist in all 3 teeth? I have been chewing whatever I can eat on the left side for a year now. I wound up with a white coated tongue that burns as well as my palate. I have unbelievable facial pain, flushed and puffy cheeks that throb and also burn.
